    I've seen a few cases that Id swear they just put them together and self-referenced themselves on start up. You bring up a good point on the lateral play and the swing angle of the rod. I've seen a lot of them crack or leak oil from taking too much out

    Is there any Cleveland 2.1 journal size 'stroker crankshaft combination' that can still retain use of the OEM 351C pistons and gudgeon pins? And can the SBC connecting rod small-end be easily enough re-bushed from .927 down to .912 to use the smaller 351C gudgeon pins?

    A proper bolted connection needs to have a very stiff joint (flywheel/crank) and springy bolts. The stock VW gland nut and dowels is the opposite. This is why type IVs and 911s have conventional bolts. The VW industry should have just switched over to that as an intermediate to the full on drag large flange. The Scat flange is better than the CB since it has more bolts instead of a lot of pins. The pins aren't what is keeping the flywheel on the crank. It's preload and friction.

    165 HP? You still have a lot to learn. 321HP turbo street here. Learned the hard way by try every other method. Even a RLR Rev 6 to soften shock of launching. FLANGE IS KING. As well as the bearings.

    I myself have had to learn the $$$$$$$ way . Started with dowel pins. Then Berg nut. Then dual disc RLR clutch. Then RLR clutch wedgemated. This is not even the new cases and Rocky Jennings mods done. Bottom line is if you even think turbo engine, Flange crank is a MUST! My RLR turbo system is eating up Hell Cats and Cobra"s. Oh I forgot, It is also eating up my $$$$$ learning the slow way. LOL

    Should the cylinder jug be clearanced also where it sits in the case?

    • @pistonrodsanddadbods8927
      @pistonrodsanddadbods8927 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes. Stroker piston kits have a shorter cylinder base that slips in the case. If you are using a non stroker cylinder and have a long enough stroke. Then you may have to clearance the cylinder base area.
