The very last footage from VHS tapes recorded from local PBS stations in the 1980s. Dedicated to those who remember this era and those who came to my channel searching for it. Excuse the filters, it was the only way I could upload it.
Dancing with the Criterion Collection

My tribute video to the great dance scenes in films featured in the Criterion Collection.
It’s crazy to think that this was shown around the 1984 election! And we just had ANOTHER election earlier this week!
What happened to him?
These bumpers sum up the 80's pretty well.

Love your take on this fabulous period film
Sparrows was a big influence on Lovecraft
Your video is extremely descriptive and well written. Congratulations.
Awesome 👍👍 💪💪
Someone must have rare speeches about Adam Dalgliesh with Dame Diana Rigg as the host.
Modern show is trash, this is proper Dr Who written to a better standard
Absolutely thank you so much
The good Ole days when we were young and happy
Born in 1992, I bet those were the golden years of tv
The nostalgia is strong with this video. I think years ago I had a VHS recording from this night. It was an airing of The Final Chapter and A New Beginning. This montage has clips from Part 1-3 as well, but they are all pulled from the opening prologue of The Final Chapter (notice the same cut from the upside down throat slash to the pitchfork coming through the door). Wish I still had that tape, even though I have the whole series on Blu-ray. At least I have this video to take me back.
Yep, totally remember that night. February 13th of '89. I managed to tape the same promos. How nerd are we! 🤣
@@anothermonday5664 Nice, you remember the exact date! Now if I could just track down a tape of the full movie showings from that night. I also would love to find a recording of, or even just the promos for, the airing of Part 3 on the FOX Network on July 13, 1990. I have fond memories of watching it that night. I know that’s the date because Bill Murray was on Arsenio Hall the same night to promote Quick Change.
@@JMaxwell85 That’ll be tough. All I have of part 3 is a local ad where the announcer says “Friday the 13th part 3…but to Jason, parts is parts” 🤣
@@anothermonday5664 If you can get that ad on here that would be awesome!
Wonderful filmmaking.
❤️❤️☑️☑️👏
I guarantee I was watching at the time. I never missed and always fell asleep in the beginning of the two Ronnie’s. Fond memories of the two Ronnie’s in the background. Always thought I’m going to be tired tomorrow but worth it.
Use to stay up late to watch them on tv🤣🤣🤣
God! Joanna is so beautiful - still! Such a great series.
❤️🤣
That music was dreadful.
My eyes and ears needed this mental cleanser💞😎
Awesome 😎
she wasnt really funny then... she' svery funny now tho before 1992 she was boring
I've never seen her so young. And she had long hair. She looked good with long hair. I love watching her show, but it has ended now,so I only watch reruns of her show that I liked the most..You're the best Ellen,I love you.
Grandma walking 5 mi a day - joke must be generic because I've heard several comedians use it over the years.
Screw the peanuts if you pd $7000 you should be getting filet mignon
Don't watch interviews of Joanna Lumley: it completely ruins the Patsy character to discover what a sweet lady she really is. ; ) jk
Should have ended after Last Shout. Still had some funny moments (Small Opening was genius for example) but most of it was cringe. It did a Simpsons, all the characters went from being outrageous but vaguely relatable to cartoon versions of themselves and the main event of episodes became unfunny celebrity cameos (seriously who ever told Emma Bunton she could act?) If Jennifer Saunders had stopped it at Last Shout then Absolutely Fabulous would be as legendary as Fawlty Towers, as it is it is just remembered as funny but average because the old series are overshadowed by the post 2000 series and the godawful film.
100% agreed
@@jonukwho At least we can watch the glory days of 90s Ab Fab whenever we want 😁
Seems like a thinly veiled representation of Islam to me.
Or Republicans
then you are really ignorant about what islam is (and is not). closer to fundamentalist american christian sects that feature multiple wives and full quivers
margaret atwood was inspired by islamist fundamentalism, iirc. you’re not really wrong
Someone on TH-cam did a side by side comparison of the 1990 film with the TV series, and the first season was pretty close to the book. Well worth a watch. I thought the film wasn't up to the sum of its parts. It had a great cast and fantastic visual sense , but the writing and characterization weren't very well done, unfortunately. But I agree that Natasha Richardson was a lovely actress and gone too soon.
Thanks so much for the great feedback.
I think for what the film version lacked, the Hulu version made up for what appeared in the Handmaids Tale
thee will never be another "Absolutely Fabulous" or "Monty Python's Flying Circus" the two most unforgettable comedy series in the history of mankind, each on will live forever
100%
I didn't laugh once.. trash show
Secondary comment, I think Robert Duvall was the perfect choice to play commander Waterford, because he is just a little bit slimy but also just enough classy to pull off the role of a leader.
I respect that opinion, thanks so much!
@@jonukwho appreciate the replies; top quality review of a highly underrated modern classic.
It is important to note that World War II Germany did have sexual slavery of women, specifically called the Joy Division. This is where the band originally got their name from, as a sick joke. The director for this film absolutely made it the withstanding quality it is.
I didn't know that, thanks!
Yes, and don't forget the women who were coerced into having babies for the Reich, the Lebensborn program. One of the members of ABBA is famously a Lebensborn baby.
@@selenedm999 Or even the French women who worked as spies by becoming lovers of Nazi officers. Many of them were executed by their own countries afterward.
Great review. Subscribed!
Thanks so much!
big sinners get famous!!!
What's wrong with you
I remember when she did her gig at 'The Comedy Zone' West Palm Beach. Her timing is fantastic! She has come so far ... overcoming so many DERAILMENTS. Keep On Keeping Ellen! You have an amazing comfort, for connecting with the audience.
I'd like to add that Julie and Randy are assumed to consummate their relationship at the end - when they run away from prom, the limo driver confirms their destination to the Valley Sheraton hotel - I guess where Tommy had planned to take Julie. Randy blushes and pulls at his tie super cutely. Such a subtle touch to an ending
Absolutely, I wanted to say that but couldn't fit it in nicely
This is one of the most amazing things I've ever seen.
Getting Blaire Warner vibes...
Love this! and all the great music choices!
That hand coming up just jarred my childhood memories
the movie seems nice, but after the show - the movie feels less intense purely because Gilead set in 2019 just feels SO MODERN and real; after the show the movie would make for a difficult watch I feel
That's a fair opinion, but it should be taken on it's own terms
It's ironic because the book was deeply rooted in the politics and economics of the Reagan era, which were the distant roots of today's political climate (which is like a weird sort of Bizarro Reaganomics, and that's what makes it frightening).
Is that Whoopi from The View?
Yes
Wooww ellen looked great wow, all power people love u guys
Which teaches us: even naturally born assholes can pretend to be funny ...
She's amazing👍❤
Great heist film.
What a great tribute!!! Thanks for doing and posting it.
