    Just started using novonlin R. Why would you need 6 units at dinner if all the carbs you eat are from low GI foods like brocolli? supposedly 6 units takes care of 60 grams of carbs or that's a guideline depends on individual.

      @@thediabetesdailyhustle8923 I cut down my protein and took my bolus as soon as I finished eating. It went well, yet I went hypo for about 30 minutes still. Since I eat 15 grams or less of low glycemic carbs per meal, tonight I'll try waiting 30 minutes after eating. It's trial and error, yet I believe R-Insulin will eventually help me achieve my goal to be sub-5.0 on my A1/c.

    • @thediabetesdailyhustle8923

      That is what Dr. Bernstein recommends, 1 main reason is because when you take a smaller dose multiple times, it can increase the efficacy of the insulin versus taking one large industrial amount that can work sporadically

    I know the feel of losing consciousness and going into a diabetic coma. 1 yr ago,I woke up in the hospital. I thought I was asleep for 2 days , when actually I was in ICU for 10 days. When the advance life support ambukance got here my brother said my blood glucose wasn’t registering on their monitor. My brother is answering questions slowly as I ask them about what they did for my body in the ICU. It’s just now sinking in how close to being dead I was. I was non-stop seizing in the ambukance and when I got to the hospital. 72hr EEG to see if I was brain dead. Full life support, he said I had all kinds of tubes and wires going into and coming out of me. He said they told him my organs were shutting down. He held the phone up to my ear as friends said their last words to me. It didn’t start sinking in until 2 months ago. My dr. said it’s just sinking in because ive been in shock. I, too, came out of it with a broken tooth. I too thought I was invincible and at 65 blood glucose I’d shrug it off and finish my task…not worried at all. Now, since I’m learning more about what they did, the ventilator, trying to ween me off and I just wouldn’t start breathing…I’m really scared to go to sleep because I don’t want to die. I’m scared to take insulin and scared not to. I have Glucogon pen now to try and make me feel safe. Ya. I’m a hot mess. I’m getting psych help though. Having my eyes shut almost permanently has Olmec my eyes WIDE. I have minimal brain damage and with PT, OT, and Speech therapy I’m doing good. Hell, I’m alive. That’s fantastic

      Hey, my apologies for the late reply but the way Dr.Bernstein put it was, Lantus' manufacturer claims 24hr period when Bernstein's analysis is actually 12hrs or so and the vice versa for Tresiba, Tresiba's manufacturer claims 48hrs when it is 24hrs or less.

    I'm trying to wrap my head around Bernsteins method of eating the same thing everyday until you figure out the perfect dosing!! I just saw a video with him explaining that. I read his book several times yet I don't remember that part! I thought he meant to eat the same carb and protein count per meal. Which is still better then not counting I suppose! idk how I would eat the same thing every meal I cook for 5 other people as well, that's a lot!! Keeping meals simple is the best thing for me and my binge eating. That's why I love eating mostly carnivore/whole food. I cook a main protein per meal then add a veggie and maybe a piece of fruit once a day. I am very satisfied when I eat enough meat. Infact I feel the healthiest when I eat meat based. I recently read mastering diabetes by cyra k. I tried eating plant based for 5 days and i required less insulin for the higher carb foods compared to processed food, but I put on a large amount of water weight and I never felt satisfied after meals, I was constantly thinking about food. Is there anything that inspired you to try a higher carb diet like a blog or book?

    I thought you were doing Dr Bernstein's LCHP. You hooked on the carbs/candy?

      There’s a lot of different methods of managing and Bernstein is definitely not the only one. I was tired of binge eating and it was doing more harm than good.

    Look at you, all grown up and moving about, new life and all..... 6 years of a golden journey! Video request: "Why you stopped eating low carb" -- yes, please. How you feel about Dr. Bernstein now? How you feel as a former devotee and what think about your commitment and beliefs at that point, vs. what you believe is suitable for you now? How your A1C and management is doing without the low-carb restrictions. What your management techniques are now -- pump or MDI, still intramuscular, R or Novolog. (FWIW, I have loosened up as well, but genuinely do much better if I stick to low carb. But I gained a lot of belly fat really, really fast, too. Not cute. I'm trying to get back to lower carb, but the carby food is hard to pass by some days. I still watch Dr. Bernstein, but cannot at all live up to the standards that he and Type1Grit have set. I do wish I could stay under 100 all day every day. Not happening without blowing up like a balloon, and absolutely avoiding all junky carbs.) Look forward to your future posts, Ali, when you have time in your life for it.

      I’ve always appreciated your support and refreshing comments! The standard of the T1D grit is definitely high, I will agree to that! I wanna share it all, I a lot of the methods I still follow, with being loosened up of course. Regardless, I shall share soon 🙏. Glad to hear from you!

    Can you do a video on playing basketball and managing blood sugar. I’m 14 with type one and I want to get back to playing competitive basketball for the high school team but last season I was high most of the games because I just chugged a few Gatorade’s before the game because I didn’t want to go low and being high with a headache all game extremely impacted my performance. What can I do to stay in a normal range?

    How is the Tresiba treating you? (It seems like I go from 28 to 20 but sometimes it changes so quickly is can be tough) Also what was your last A1C?

      Hey! Tresiba has been good to me, I do a split dosage one at bedtime and one upon waking, I had to run a good amount of basal test in the beginning. I believe my latest A-1 C is 6.5.

      @@thediabetesdailyhustle8923 I was wondering if your knew the percentage of insulin you take to your weight in kilograms? I am 81.193 kilograms and take 18 units of Tresiba which is 22.17% of my weight. I ask because some doctors say to take 50% of your weight in kilograms and when I did I almost when into a diabetic seizure because that was way to much. oh man we missed you so much I've been watching your old videos hoping to kill the longing inside me I would like to ask two questions, my friend, if possible Is it true that for every ounce of protein you inject about half a ton of regular insulin, the amount of an ounce is 28 grams And the second question is, do you recommend dividing the basal levemir insulin into three times, or should I keep it only twice?

    • @thediabetesdailyhustle8923
      @thediabetesdailyhustle8923 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for love! To be honest with you, I don’t remember the rule with Novolin regular insulin and protein, I know Bernstein has talked about it a lot in his TH-cam videos and in his book. Is Levemir twice a day working for you? If it is keep that up, if not keep testing and see if three splits is good. But of course, consult your healthcare team.
