Good on you mate 👍👏. Great cause and nice to see you getting the old girl out and about for a few runs👍
I made it over also to have a gander. It was a really great day, and heaps of parents wanting to take their kids for a ride.. hopefully it will see some new blood into the industry in a few years time. I was going to pop over and say hi as you said, but you were a bit busy driving. Thanks for the toot as you drove past the Railway Station as I was recording!! The old girl was really purring. A big thanks to the organisers, it looked to be a fun day for all involved, and I hope they managed to raise a good amount for Ronald McDonald House.
@@MadAsKiwi was a busy day I would say a good day for all those people involved and yes hats off to the organisers. I did see your upload it’s cool sorry we didn’t catch up
@@PETENZcabover362 All good. I should have also said, I hope you had a good day also, and I hope Miss Pete held up well
It fair moves in reverse. Crack up! Well done lad!!!
@@sarah-janelowrie2571 moves going forward as well long legs
Looks great Owen, you have done well!!
@@MikeJames-fb9kv funny was thinking of you today need to have a catch up. Getting more confident to head out further away from the workshop it’s running better just have to figure out how to get the live stock to stay on the trailer to justify using it.
Brilliant no plate , how does that work in Nz ? Private plates in uk that mean anything cost a fortune,. You seriously need to get the young ones roped into a mirror polishing solvol autosol season, still awaiting a nice exhaust heat shield and tail pipe,. Oh and a nice catwalk,. And a few extra marker lights, Cheers,.
@@cabovermike personalised plates are not cheap but I was missing a plate so just started again. Regarding the chrome and extra lights just going to keep it simple and enjoy driving it, you are right it would look good with lights and chrome
Once thank you for sharing on the home straight all the best for the cof looking good
😅😅😅fuel gauge not working. I know the feeling 100km from home😅😅😅 remember you giving me some liquid sponsorship ⛽️ to make it home
@@geoffcooke549 yes I do the broom handle was a bit short when you left home that day come and see me one day and we will go for a ride in miss Pete
Another issue (issues) solved. I thought about popping over for the truck show also, will see how we go and what the weather is doing. I hope the CoF for the trailer goes without a hitch.
@@MadAsKiwi if I make it there come up and say hi
@@PETENZcabover362 Will do
Great ride and looking great. And it wasn't raining
@@RayCannon-t2r yep used up my allocation of kms so have to wait for the next round of funding
A friend of my dad had one of those Peterbilts down here in North Otago ( Peter McDowell transport) and a mate of mine drove it for a while it was twin steer tipper but I never knew what happened to it when it left here. Love the Pete it has that real American tractor unit look to it. I would rather have something like this than some fugly looking computerized Merc or DAF any day. Cheers Buddy, a nice truck you should be proud.👍👍
@@buckhornz2184 a new truck is the best in till it stops working then the $150 hour starts I don’t even own a laptop to plug in to a truck. The Pete was a challenge to rebuild and it’s simple to keep running only my play truck something to go and buy an ice cream with on a Sunday. I appreciate you viewing and commenting it makes the upload worthwhile thanks
Jolly good show mate! I just succeeded with the same result. Used a 20k psi pump with a smidgen over head pressure lol
@@Dontspeakboutme it worked didn’t really have a lot of options next step would be cutting the ends out of the tank
I’d pay good money to come along on that maiden voyage !,. Fans kicked in nicely, what engines in in it ? 400 Cummins ?, the dashboard is a little bit disappointing clocks wise or am I not seeing it all ?, still the quietest jakes ever !,. We have roads like that in uk but mostly they aren’t main truck routes,. Looking at that outfit colours it’s crying out for a cat 3406 engine or a cat logo and a big cat dozer on the trailer,. Looks like it passed its 1st test, congratulations,.
@@cabovermike first the fan no it didn’t kick in I had to turn it on manually still working on that. Engine N14 celect 430hp? Will give footage of inside the cab running later on, and yes Jake’s is low volume no red flag to a bull (trucker Tim) there’s a new highway being constructed to cut that hill climb out still 10% grade no corners. Had the opportunity to take one with a cat but rails and cabs not so good don’t mind the Cummins still a good power unit.
Congratulations on a job well done all your hard work has come to fruit
@@mikeleckie4828 the fruit could be a lemon yet
Bloody awesome Owen!! Whats next??
@@camlill6977 no more trucks just fix this one when it stops going
She really sounded like she was running well. And agreed, she sounded like she was hardly revving at all. Great to see her hauling again, and hope to see her around town one day. Oh, and really glad to see you didn't get caught in all the bloody rain we've been having lately.. those window seals won't have appreciated that. I guess the next question is.. what's next?
@@MadAsKiwi small truck show coming up in Feilding will try to attend and yes it is ticket material long legs, had a catch up with the window man and good things take time it’s only been three months
@@PETENZcabover362 Is this the one in Manchester Square on the 5th October?
@@MadAsKiwi yes think so only seen the road closer notice in the paper not the event advertised
@@PETENZcabover362 Beaut. I might pop over and take a look.
Nice work O. Tough test first off but no surprise it came through. Thanks for sharing the journey from the beginning.👏🎬👏
@@zinny54 the test will be when it has 1000 k and diff seals blow out
That looks amazing what a unit ❤.
@@stenalbertsen2440 is different not to many of them out there
Cool 👍. Well done👏, successful decent drive. Must feel like a great achievement to have got it to this point and back on the road. Well, hope to see you down at Wheels at Wanaka, its the last show they doing. I know it's a long way to go and costs allot but would be great if you did end up making it down along with some of your other cool old cat equipment etc, should be the best show they have done i think. Went last year and it's really worth while imo. I see they have got a Britten bike heading to this event too which will be great. Have a good day 👍
@@bush600r2 been a few discussions about heading south will try and put a couple of kms on her first and make that call later
Great Resto is there any other Fontaine sliding 5th wheels or parts in that yard.i also have one on a Peterbilt,im after some of the sliding sections to make mine slide further
@@janeturner9152 have a look at my #46 upload I did a review on the trucks still there
any Fontaine sliding turntables there or parts of?
Well done in getting it through COF. Be good for it to go for a decent drive under load too. Good stuff look forward to seeing it run. 👍
Good work Owen - all the hard work paid off! Sounds like an awesome team at the testing station - very helpful which is not always the case with some! Saw the clip on Facebook with the transporter on!!
@@camlill6977 we are lucky having the choice of three testing stations was advised to go where I did as they have a positive attitude and are happy to work with you
Awesome work. Enjoyed your resto.
Well done a great result
Well done I'm sure we have higher standards than North America from what I view on youtube & other web postings. Peterbilt is ready for work good luck !!

Congratulations on road test all the best for cof
Ahh.. now we know who was doing rarkies down Roberts line lol. Great to see 'er up and running. Good luck with the COF.
@@MadAsKiwi rough road for a drag race but not to far to recover for a tow home working myself up to that COF
Good job !😎
Well done mate that's a real achievement and you can definitely be proud of your hard work. Got to be happy with that road test all and all for sure with only just a couple minor probs, that's great 👍. Good luck with the cof, might make them take a double take at that NOS sticker on the unusual tank, they be like what the hell going on here.... 😅. Keep up the good work, truck sounds and looks great 👍.
@@bush600r2 yep happy didn’t have to tow it home and yes that sticker is going to bring comments but the hole truck is going to do that she’s no show peace
Fantastic, truck looks and sounds brilliant, that’s the fastest truck I’ve ever seen reversing !, jakes sound a bit lame ? just tell me the ride wasn’t as rough as it looked on camera ? It’s been well worth the struggle, I would love that in uk RHD American trucks are rare here, we’ve got a couple of white road commanders (short sleepers) RHD and the same amount of KWs (show trucks, not working) The visor really sets off its looks to, look forward to a proper road run and successful fitness test, cheers,.
@@cabovermike thought people might like the reversing 50km/h at 1500 rpm not so easy with a trailer on, the muffler is doing its job don’t need to fly a red flag to a bull with a loud truck ( trucker Tim ) the road was rough but still managed to get it up to 110km/h I don’t think anyone would want to drive a American truck in the uk considering the comfort of your trucks thanks for the comment and following me makes it all worthwhile.
Those lashing points on the back never looked right, the new ones are far better, as for the front windows I always like the chrome strip all around the window rubbers, really sets them off, the visor will be the icing on the cake, and don’t forget a pair of twin centre load trucker CB antennas,. Just a few scabby looking pipes to renew by the air drier, or just re sheath them , maybe a nice stack heat shield would look better and it can’t be far off road test time, cheers,
@@cabovermike you are right in what it needs adding I can think of a full page of items to turn it into more of a show rig. A heat shield is on my list just need to find one at my price just like the hydraulic kit was very happy with how all that worked out just waiting for the right one to come along and appreciate some one helping selling it to me
Those oil cooler lines the fittings on them, are they screw on ones? Can they be reused if you got some new line to suit for them? I'm asking cause i have similar fittings on my truck and i need to change the brittle old lines as well and they look like they are screw on rather than crimped but i haven't taken any off yet cause i still need to move the truck at this stage. Fuel lines, power steering, all sorts need changing and i don't want to use a hose doctor as they are complete rip offs so I'll get all the new lines and screw fittings do it my self. Hopefully these fittings are reusable though will save a bit if money. Also want to mention Cavanagh truck spares on there web site anyway have the same model Pete as yours if it's still there that is, could be handy for parts for you in the pictures it has windows all intact etc too. Just thought I'd mention. Good work she's coming along well and looks to be getting close 👍
@@bush600r2 to answer your question they look reusable but are not I have tried to remove them off the fuel lines and the cooler ones all with the same results twisting the hose off. I asked about that Cavanagh truck to see if it had a exhaust stack bracket but no it’s a grass burner thanks for following me
@@PETENZcabover362 Thanks for the reply, looks like mine will most likely be the same then. I have a shop in town that sells different size fittings and hoses to suit to make your own so I'll be doing that. Will save me allot money
@@bush600r2 transmission lines would only be 10-20 psi maybe, fuel suction and return no pressure so don’t be afraid to make your own lines I did have them made for the brake cans to be safe. Looking forward to viewing all this on TH-cam
@@PETENZcabover362 yes that's true thanks I won't be getting to carried away with non pressure fuel lines etc, but once the fuel tanks come off I'll have to replace the lines as they will likely break when i take them off and I need to reroute them slightly anyway as I'm altering a couple things under the cab for improvement. Yes I'll end up making up all my own hoses, a mate runs his own hoses and screw clamp fittings on very high pressure hydraulic lines on a machine and has had no problems with them so I'm confident they should be fine in all the parts I'm going to be doing on the truck. I'm just doing the ones I need but in saying that it's most. Not sure I'll do a TH-cam as I'm not much like a Camara on me type person but will think about it. I'm hoping to have it mostly finished and back on the road by January and finish off touches to hopefully take down to wheels at Wanaka at Easter if money and time suits. Be great to see you down there with your Pete and some of your machinery too. This coming one is celebrating caterpillar so I think your old cat machinery would be a hit down there!👍 Look forward to your next update video.
What about putting a plastic rear mudguard under the cab I know company they do it to stop it from making a mess?
@@adamnathan6856 cool idea never thought of that going to run it soon to find out how it works thanks
Interesting you mention the balancing lines underneath aren't anymore from your research - my 2015 Scania has a line across from bottom of each tank as a balance line and looks to be factory set-up.
@@camlill6977 interesting to be honest haven’t looked at a late model truck Peterbilt did away with it in the 80s my videos should come with a warning that I don’t know what I am doing thanks for watching
Your persistence in getting that brake valve sorted was impressive, must have taken some time to get that eliminated. well done 👍
@@bush600r2 probably go down the road and have a full lock up I like problem solving wouldn’t have started the project if I couldn’t do it thanks for viewing
You've done well in fitting up the hydraulics, I like the improvised tank etc and making do with what you have. Good work👍
@@bush600r2 if you put a price on time I would go broke as I spend all day looking for the items to make it all work. Just like it that I built it and if it doesn’t work there’s no warranty

I assume this truck was built in Australia since it's right wheel drive. Are all the fasteners metric?
@@randallyarborough7923 No 9 years in the USA then imported to NZ and converted here. I believe there was a factory in South Africa that did conversions I been told that Peterbilt never built a right hand drive truck in a USA factory.
Great to see the wheels turning mate. How did you get po with your CTA for glass in the end?
You need a wet kit on it for that tipper trailer , would look nice outfit if trailer matched the truck, hopefully a switch on the reverse beeper to !, windscreen guys still a no show ?,. Black those tyres up and those wheels will look great, raise the ride height a tad to, cheers ,.
