I only do up to hard mode because I'm new but when it comes to middle notes I alternate hands even when they aren't one in front of the other. I play on my tablet so my left side is in charge of the left side of the screen while my right side is in charge of the right side, and they take turns on middle notes (or at least that's how my autistic ass personifies it)

Thumb player so alternating i suppose, its hard but im getting better, ive fc melt and underwater on master so I'm proud of myself 😆

Alternating fingers just feels way easier. Also, if I fuck up, it's somehow not as upsetting as losing combo using method 3
