Come be a part of our crazy life as you see the world through my eyes, on The Morgan Mickel Channel.
Fall Mountains To Feedlots: Trucking Woolly Cargo Across The West
We have been truckin’ for 4 days straight, and we’re not about to stop yet! We have another 10 to go! Come trucking with us as we get our wooly cargo from fall mountains to feedlots, Chasing sunsets and white lines on our way to the next step in our journey. Every season is busy for us around here but each season is a different kind of busy. Spring time we’re lambing, summer we’re farming, but in the fall we spend a lot of time loading sheep, and behind the wheel of the truck getting them where they need to go. Almost every day we are moving somewhere in a truck. We go through a lot of fuel, hamburgers, fried chicken, audio books, and 5 hour energies to get things where they need to be! Being behind the wheel gives a guy a lot of time to think, and It never fails that as I watch the sun go down in my rear view mirror over a loaded stock trailer full of american lamb, that I think to myself how lucky I am to do what I love, and live a life full of unique experiences just like this one day after day! It almost feels like We sit at a desk this time of year because we sit in the same place for hours on end, but it's a desk that moves, and has one heck of a good view.

Fall Lamb Trucking: Adventures Across Western Mountains
มุมมอง 12K16 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา
It's officially time for the next step in our fall adventure. We have built corrals, changed tires, prepped trucks, and watched the lambs grow from the spring and through the summer; Now it's time to get them on the trucks, and shipped to their new home across the west! The first bunch of lambs we are going to ship is the biggest. It takes a lot of coordinating, planning, and working to make su...
THE TASTIEST Way To Bring In The New Year With A Bang!
มุมมอง 1.8Kวันที่ผ่านมา
For the last eight years or so we have been cooking up american lamb on new year's day. It started off with just our family then it just kept growing and growing every year to what it is now. We used to cook just one lamb, then it turned into two and now we cook three whole lambs! It's an open invitation, and everyone's invited. The only thing we tell people to bring is a chair if they want to ...
Extreme Tire Changing: Prepping Trucks For The Lamb Hauls
มุมมอง 2.1K21 วันที่ผ่านมา
We spent the last part of summer on the mountain getting a corral built, and ready to use for fall. Meanwhile back at the ranch, our trucks have been sitting around not doing much other than hauling hay since we got the sheep on the mountain in july. Before we start trucking across the west we need to go through every truck and get them inspected, prepped, and ready to roll down the road. A big...

So you have hard working immigrants doing the hard work. Bless them and F Orange tits.
How heavy are they when you wean? Do the lambs go to a finishing lot off the moutain?
Usually around 110 to 120 pounds! Yes we take the smaller end and we feed them out. The rest we haul directly to a feedlot!
Did these lambs all go to the feedlot? What do they usually weigh coming off grass?
Yes! Usually 110 to 120 pounds!
Living the dream man!
Absolutely!
Wollies on the move.

At least the no tire left at all won't be getting any flats.
you're right on that one haha. one less thing to worry about I guess!
Respect to you herdsman, cattleman, stallion of the 5 speed. Today’s world says it in an acronym. Iykyk. Basicly as you know Put it in low and roll without rolling over Betsy
haha stallion of the 5 speed. that makes my whole day! thanks for watching!
you got all the wear out of that back one
I was thinking if we could put just a little air in it we might could get a few hundred more miles out of it!
Duceandahalf. Let her ride man
oh she rode! bout rode all the rough off it I think!
I'm going to make me a portable, collapsible ramp for my gooseneck. How long are the ramps for the trucks? Your sheep seem to move good up and down them.
they work really good! our sheep go up and down them a lot so they are pretty used to it! off the top of my head I'm not sure I will have to measure one! I would say about 20 feet though!
There's a little bit of tyre there
almost fixable I think!
How many lambs do you get per load.
just enough to keep us at 80,000 pounds per truck!
Can well and truly relate to unloading lambs. Some loads and under various conditions be it weather, time of day even breed of sheep that fuse can get pretty short. Greetings from Australia and by the way LETS ALL THRIVE IN 25.
absolutely! welcome and thanks for watching!
Have you ever hauled feeder lambs to Groton SD
I never have!
That's pretty impressive! Roughly how many sheep are in that corral when you guys bring all 3 herd together?
There is quite a few! 😂
Lamb is the best.
I agree!
I live in Montana and my son raises the sheep. I would love to bring him to this feed If we are invited.
absolutely! come on down next year!
Great content and fabulous job on the drone footage!
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great video as always! Your lambs are ramboullet Suffolk cross right?
Thank you! Yes they are!
Another very interesting video Thank you and God bless you 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you for the kind words!
Long days!
But good ones!
XIT ranch in Texas does a similar cook with beef cooked in the ground! Good times! How long has the sour dough start been going?
that's awesome! I have always wanted to try that! for us not long! we don't keep it going all year like some do! there is a bakery close to the ranch here that when we need another start we just go get one from them and get it mixed up and rolling again when we are ready for some more!
Love these videos. Thanks for the reminders of my childhood
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching!
Growing up, we used gooseneck trailers instead of pot bellies. Exact same process in West Texas as y'all use. Have you tried using a lead sheep or goat on your lambs? My lead sheep is worth his weight in gold.
Usually our lambs run off pretty decent and we only haul them this way once and then they are gone! More trouble than it’s worth keeping a lead sheep around! But I’m sure it would work good!
Fascinating, quite an opertation.
Thank you for watching!
Beautiful country and seeing good people working their animals on it makes it all the more so.
I agree thanks for watching!
Beautiful!
Thank you!
What seasoning is that you are using?
It’s a mixture of several things! Season salt, garlic salt, and all sorts of things!
@ Awesome! We have a few go-to mixes of our own. Always looking to try something different though! Thanks for the reply!
Why to the desert this time of year?
We had enough feed here close to home until now and we needed to ultrasound two herds so it was easier to have them home! Plus the desert this year wasn’t looking the best! So now we will be good to stay there for how long we need!
Looks delicious!
Thank you!!
Looks like a good fun time and that is a heck of a lot of sourdough! Happy New Year.
It was! Good times!
My favorite New Year’s tradition! 🤘🏻
Heck yeah 🇺🇸
