Tower Ridge on Ben Nevis.
The best way to the summit of Ben Nevis, in my opinion. Fantastic scrambling and climbing with an exciting finish over Tower gap. www.eliteguides.co.uk/tower-ridge-guide

    Different mountain, but I tackled Snowden in November, at the worst possible weather at the time (2022). Was crazy, beaten by winds. This seems a little more climbing than that for sure!! Fair play!

    This is fantastic. I've been pondering how to protect the gap and this clearly shows a great way. Either side of the spike (240 sling used to protect second initially), then flick over when lead has crossed. Thanks!

    Well done but these short range views do make it look more difficult than it is. I am no rock climber but three of us did the traverse in both directions in the day in October 2005 without avoiding any obstacles. It needs enormous respect but it is probably one of the top five ridges in these islands that a decent hill walker with a good head for heights can do unroped. It shouldn’t be tackled if you feel uncomfortable on the likes of Sharp Edge , Crib Goch etc . I could be phased where the drop is behind me and my footwork is not good enough to do without upper body strength but I found nowhere like that on this ridge.

    Guys do u using sling around that big block near tower gap ,what size of it please??

    • @eliteguides738
      @eliteguides738 ปีที่แล้ว

      A 240cm sling is big enough to go around the block.

    I love the use of features to provide friction on the rope. Really shows a deep knowledge of the route. Hopefully not too many falls taken though; can't imagine it's very good for the rope!

    How do you get a job taking people on routes like this?

    • @eliteguides738

      Most people will work their way through the Mountain Training qualifications in the UK and then seek employment.

    Hats off to you guys (well best kept on for your climb) but what an exhilerating ascent!! What I am intrigued by, is in Scotland much like mountainous regions elsewhere on the planet, we do suffer from tremors and aftershocks from earthquakes, does this not impact the higher reaches for rock navigation, as thee seems to be more disturbance of rock at altitude in past few years, though this is more to do with weather than siesmic activity I believe.

    • @scottk25
      @scottk25 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is very little seismic activity in Scotland really, the odd tremor but nothing that affects navigation, that I am aware of.

    Hi Kirk great video. Doesnt the rope get damaged when you pull it through the rocks? Again great video 👏

    • @scottk25
      @scottk25 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Using the rope for direct belays on the rock will decrease the life of the rope due to ebrasion. It is possible to damage a rope by running it over a sharp edge, so you do need to be careful.
