Just love Carl's little gesture at the beginning with the wand "that's okay, I blocked it and deflected it back". Always makes me smile. It really shows through that despite the silliness and nerdyness of Norm and the whole Harry Potter party, Carl is not only doing this because of the YES-program, but because he's truly a nice guy and wants to be a good friend to Norm. And even though they quit the party at some point and Carl is obviously feeling a little bit unconfortable with Norms close handshake, he's never disrespectful or condescending about it. The scene near the end of the movie where he hooks up Norm with Soo-Me perfectly rounds that up in my opinion.
This was the first time I ever saw Rhys Darby in anything (I was only eleven at the time), and, as a fellow Potter fanatic, there was just SOMETHING about this character that told me he was a VERY good discovery. As the years have gone on, I still struggle to comprehend JUST how good a discovery he was. I absolutely ADORE him. ❤❤
Ok- me and my bud are having a Harry Potter Marathon in December. I got my Pandora flying key, and going to look for something Harry Potterish- and the entire weekend were going to watch all 8 movies! Going to be sweet. This movie was the inspiration hahaha
I was a member of the Harry Potter society at my university, I have no shame. My only regret is that I didn’t also join the Quidditch team we had as well, but I drew the line at running around with a stick between my legs pretending to be on a broomstick 🧹 That was just a step too far.
Its okay bud, me and my peeps used to fight DBZ battles with our i m a g i n a t i o n s.....sadly now we have none as adults... Its pretty hard to deflect an imaginary Kamehameha wave lmfao
"Good dip huh? Got tons of it at Cost-co. See I have an exclusive membership card and with that card I can I have access to the whole place. I can buy large quantities of anything at discount prices."
Seriously tho, when the family channel has on the weekend marathon of Harry Potter, I'm indoors all weekend. No lie. Then everyone hates me Sunday night. Oh well! Obliviate!! Haha, works every time!
OOOOHH. I saw a small amount of this movie on some random channel on the TV and quite liked it so I searched the main bit I remembered. So it's called Yes Man? That makes sense.. K thx bai.
I’m not ashamed that I repeat this line in a half whisper whenever I watch HPPS I am slightly ashamed that I get slightly teary every time though. It’s just so heartwarming, but you know that things are going to get so much worse and the movies and the story get progressively darker as they go on. It’s such a bright and happy ending, everyone is still alive and there’s still so much hope. It just takes me back to that cinema theatre when I was just a little girl at the start of my childhood. Those emotions, those memories are all tied to reading the books and seeing the movies as I grew up. Waiting in line to get the next book and living in that fantasy world.
@@generalpurpose772 Even watching it as a scene in another movie and hearing the music swell up brings me such powerful emotion. I love all the HP movies but there's something beautiful about the first one. Sometimes I wonder if it's just the overpowering nostalgia that gets me, but then I remember countless other movies I saw as a kid that didn't pierce my heart the way Potter did. Maybe it's because it wasn't a simple happy ending, but one that was deeply bittersweet and nuanced. There are aspects of the books that could be done better in the upcoming HBO remake, but scenes like this make me feel that a remake is unnecessary.
David Heyman co-produced "Yes Man". He was also the producer of the entire Harry Potter series. Knowing that, this whole scene's a very fun little in-joke. ;)
That's very fun to know, and it makes a lot more sense as to why Hedwig's theme was playing in the background of this scene. I thought it was added by the uploader at first but with David Heyman's involvement I'm guessing it was easier/cheaper to use the actual song
So Hermione said "Feels strange to be going home, doesn't it?" And then in my head I said "I'm not going home, not really." Then the guy did it in the video. He also waved goodbye at them. I too have done that. I wish he was real so we could be best friends. I want to go to this party HARD!
I like Harry Potter and all, but those are LONG movies to marathon like that! I remember when my family and I tried to marathon Pirates of the Caribbean. We were actually physically tired afterward. That's...that's sad, I know.

Its strange, but I think Norm is my favorite character in this movie.
I honestly could have seen a spin off of him. This movie has a lot of memorable characters in it.
