You shouldn't play Dark Souls because Bayonetta, DMC, Ninja Gaiden, Lollipop Chainsaw, Splatterhouse, and Darksiders II exist. Literally just play anything else. If you want a rich narrative RPG, you got Piranha Bytes games, VtMB, Elder Scrolls/Fallout, and CDPR games. If you want good combat, play something by Team Ninja or Capcom. Dark souls is designed to be difficult based on doing everything about game design intentionally wrong. This is partly a bad faith argument on my part, but I genuinely believe that FromSoft thinks QoL and accessibility = the game is bad.

Honestly after playing and platinuming every souls game before playing dark souls, it really doesnt compare, the early game is great but after a while you start to realise that theres barely any fun weapons or bosses, the flask system sucks, the areas are boring apart from a select few (anor londo.) the interconnected world is great but playing it after every other souls games really makes you realise just how mediocre it is in comparison, its still a good game though

About one week ago I was searching for a present for my sister and si ce she couldn't decide i asked if she wanted a video game. She decided to take dark souls. I have been playing the game and I can say that it is not bad, but it is not good or great either. The main problem is that its difficulty is not based on hard mechanics that you need to learn like in sekiro, but on a clunky gameplay an a not fluent game.

Holy hell people in these comments are brain dead. If you enjoy DS1, good for you. But to shit on games like Elden Ring and say DS1 is better… you are either trolling or just nostalgia tripping over DS1

Not sure if it’s exactly accurate for me to label Sekiro as a “SoulsBorne” game, but I will… and I will say that it is my favorite soulsborne game.

Genuinely disagree about almost everything, I think the perfectionist, one hit KO design puts a lot at stake and keeps it engaging/exciting …. It’s a game not about getting better by acquiring overpowered gear but by actually getting better at managing and mastering encounters and learning which enemy to prioritise first. I really love the platforming apart from the few hiccups when the wall running doesn’t register ,and yeah the puzzles are not that great and the quantity of bosses should have been more I agree . Still,props for putting this out there.

Nope. You can stick to your call of duty shit or some high speed shooter and gta like crap. Inside is art and definitely not for people who are into mindless action button mashing, inside is consistently good and technically sooo good like it’s almost impossible to not talk bout it (if you understand how hard it is to create animations and transitions between them as smooth as Inside) but hey, you can state your opinion and i can totally shit on that :) Inside is not for everyone but it’s definitely better than most of the games out there.

These are all my subjective opinions, but I couldn’t disagree with this video more. I’ve played every souls game at least 3 times (many of them many more times). I always enjoy coming back to ds1 the most. It was really interesting to hear you talk about wanting the difficulty to be biased in “skill” instead of “knowledge of the game”. I like that dark souls 1 is basically something you can learn. I like how knowing the shortcuts, knowing where people are, knowing where items are, etc fundamentally changes how the game is played. If you wanna dodge slave knight Gael’s 10 hit combos while chipping away at his giant health bar that’s awesome. It sounds like that’s the experience that a lot of souls players want. But ds1 has a lot to offer that the other games have not been able to replicate. I think a lot of folks who are really into the later games kind of miss these things. I get why folks feel the way they do, but I think people should play dark souls 1. I still think it’s 10/10 game. If I was stranded on a desert island and could only play 1 game for the rest of time, it would be ds1.

I dunno, i finished the game first time with midrolling dude with divine halberd and some utility spells (this is a BAD build, for thouse who don't know), without any actual problems, without guides, without feeling i'm going hollow. And no, more i played, more i understand the game, less misstake i made and feel less and less frustration. Coz... you know, i get used to game and gain understanding and skill to play it. And no, you can't expect from RPG it's allow you to win by "pure skill" without knowledge of the game and at least somewhat ok build. You can expect this from pure action\adventure game, but not from RPG based itself in exploration, character stats and cryptic mysteries. Knowledge of the game in this type of RPGs is crutial part of the genre identily :) So, no, DS is absolutely ok for a beginners, and this video is just a personal bad expierience with the game, for some reason used to discourage (probably, why else it's exist?) new players from playing a good and fun game for no reason... And yes, i know this is bad personal expierience, coz most of the things that are "bad" mentioned in this video, are avoidable\dosent' matter for first playthrough, and can only be bring up in a context of video like this, if someone expierienced them and think they are prerequisite for any palystyle.

Im a casual, I beat Elden Ring after 170hrs, then today I saw Sekiro for $20 at a pawn shop...now watching reviews and thinking its well worth $20, but maybe I just personally wasted $20 cause Im probably never getting past the first few bosses since I cant overlevel like I did in Elden Ring.

Made it 5 seconds. Dark Souls 1 and 3 is a miss? Don't need to watch a second after that. And never watching another video from this ding ding. Thumbs down.

Do you like banging your head against a wall repeatedly instead of doing damage through a variety of means and abilities? Then Sekiro is for you. Reactive Japanese guitar hero is there for you to simply react to for every single enemy. Magic, no Beating to death, no Archery, no Can the enemies do it to you and you can't do it to them? Yeah that's how sekiro feels but more pattern based guitar hero spamming. Its a very bad game and should be held as a bad game. Also Dark Souls 2 SOTFS is fugging awesome.

Why Shade Control? It was one of the best games that year, especially after balancing patches. Not to mention how the seamlessly incorporated the DLC into the game. A1 material.

Dark souls is only difficult due to the fact that there are so many items and hidden quests. And knowing what to get and how to upgrade. The combat itself is on average difficulty.

After years of watching streamers play souls games i come to the conclusion that they just want everything to be easy, the amount of people defying these games basic mechanics and then flaming how the game is "too hard" is huge.

You say Souls games are "hit or miss", then you dis DS1, DS2, and DS3...

I think the reason why there are some levels with no alien is to give you a sence of Safety. those Androids seem safe in comparison. Then when you get to the hive area of the game the game pulls the Rug out from Under you And said surprise you thought you Be fighting androids for the rest of the game you thought Wrong.

I just want you to know, a remaster is using the same game and models while tweaking the shine and brightness, in order to port it I’ve to a newer console. A remake however is looking at the old game and making something entirely new and different while literally blowing up with good graphics. A remaster is never usually meant for good graphics but it is meant for better gameplay and better control.
