Alias Deep Dive - Feature Modifier
มุมมอง 1.1K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Alias Deep Dive - Feature Modifier Introduced with the all-new Alias 2024, the feature modifier is a game changer. This tool takes a source object, either curves or surfaces, and makes one or more deformed copies based on the difference in shape and CV distribution between a source surface and a target surface(s). You can create a grille motif in one square and propagate that design everywhere,...
Alias Deep Dive - Accelerated Surface Tool
มุมมอง 1.8K10 หลายเดือนก่อน
Accelerated Surface was the first all new surfacing tool introduced in the completely revamped version of Alias 2024. It allows a better execution of joints and parting lines by accelerating the curvature of the surfaces towards the radii of the gaps. very helpful
Thanks for the video Pierre-Paul, Looking forward for more introductory videos & some complex ones too.
Perfect, thanks for the video! Dynamo tutorials are very much needed... I see Alias users going with Grasshopper for the lack of tutorials. I did the same. Learning in Grasshopper and applying the methods in Dynamo just to skip the complexity of multiple software usage.
Great automation! Nice work... I wonder how we can eliminate spans of that end result surface we have? Should we do something more in Dynamo?
Great video, Pierre-Paul! 🙂 Happy to see Dynamo getting some attention from the Autodesk side! Two quick comments: The unit in Dynamo is not always mm. In fact, it uses the unit which is set in your Alias model. So if you are working with inches in your Alias model, executing your script it would use the input of the sliders as inches for the sizing of the cube. And: you can simply double click on a node name to rename it. But again: great video, love it!
That's why you're the master and I'm a padawan. Thanks GG!
@@PierrePaulAndriani Haha, stop downplaying your skills, you are no longer a padawan! ;-D
Hi Pierre, Great videos man, can anyone please answer, if the blender settings are configured for accuracy, why can't a model (like the koenigsegg be used to a mock up or a prototype. What does alias have that would allow it to excel over blender. I ask because I have a school project and I'm thinking of learning alias just for this project, or can I just make due with using blender to create a prototype ??
Hello there, happy new year and sorry about the late reply. Blender is a great software but even with tight settings it is not made to create sheet metal panels for cars (along with draft angles, minimum radii and so on). It is something Alias is specifically meant to do.
Hi Pierre, that´s amazing worflow,! I got a question, when you export Blender to Alias the subD can recognize the edges creases that was in blender? in my tests only work Alias to Blender. Thank you
Hello there, happy new year and sorry about the late reply. I ran a test on my side and I was able to keep the creases from Blender.
Is this really more desirable? I suppose it could help with the buildup of finishes like primer and paint at edges too?
Great Explanation!
Great video! Thanks buddy
The force is mighty strong with this one
Nice, clear explanation and good examples!
Nodes for the win, love that.
0:45 A > B (FBX) 3:33 B > A (FBX) 4:35 B > A (OBJ) Thank you
2:23 How did the tool know to use the curves sitting on the target reference as a boundary? They were never picked as a reference or target or whatever. They didnt appear to be COS's because they would have warped when you extended the surface biasing the corners. Please explain? Great tool, thanks in advanced
The tool didn't know. The curves represent a boundary the modeler wanted the surfaces to be in. They act as a visual reference to stay within, which Pierre-Paul is then using when extrapolating the surface.
This is so freaking awesome tool. Thanks from india 🎉
Oh, fun! This ”game changer” has been in Rhino for years and years (called ”FlowAlongSrf”). 😅
Thank you 😊
Thanks for sharing!
thank you.
What's the difference between alias subd vs blender subd? Beginner to 3d
it's the same thing with the exception that in CAD software like CATIA, Alias and Rhino, the Sub-D is converted to nurbs in realtime while modeling, while in polygon software such as Blender, Maya, 3DSmax etc. the Sub-D stays as triangulated mesh. So the key difference is the output being nurbs, this comes with additonal advantages such as the capability to use CAD features on the nurbs result (trim, fillet etc.).
Again a tutorial only for them that already know how to operate the program. Where can I find something for a person that absolutely knows nothing about the program but wants to learn it?

Hello Pier congrats fo your videos very helpful, here is Matteo we met in Coventry in 2016 what a nice surprise find you here
ACE demo
Thank you for your Video, I have a question. How about FBX Nurbs data to Blender case? is that work? Thank you.
You can export an fbx file from Alias into Blender - subdiv data only
You can import NURBs into blender but it will just be a mesh. Only useful for visualisation and underlay.
Damn awesome, would love to see more videos on working with scan meshes🤩 World is missing tutorials for such cutting edge tech, that's so widely available these days. Thanks for your time to share knowledge with us
that's super impressive... I must have missed this one when it came out.
Such a powerful tool!! Alias is really becoming a number one go to with subD modeling, Blender still has issues when you try to fade creases with that sharpness. It will be nice to be able to export that geometry into Blender though, Blender and Alias should work simultaneously
Thank you !!
Yo! Buddy. Great vid!
Thanks Kev, good to see ya!
