Great job on the video. We were there in December and moorings upgraded us a 50ft catamaran as well. We had booked a 46 foot monohull so we were very pleased. Headed back next may and your video just makes me more excited. I’m guessing you will be going back from the way you enjoyed yourself.
Great video. Excellent job of editing.
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
As a nature enthusiast and Davie resident, I appreciate this labor of love on your part. Thank you for sharing!
This is by far the best video of Viking shore excursions I have seen yet. Thank you for sharing it.
Thanks for watching and thanks for your wonderful comment!
Thanks.
What a treat to have stumbled into this world. Excellent video... thank you.
@ 11:41 I'm curious why the maritime museum would have what looks like a terra cotta warrior statue, like you see in Xian China.
I wish I could tell you! I think it was actually a statue of a sea captain from some century long ago.
WOW!!
My husband and I are looking at doing something like your trip. But this time, it will be just 2 of us, doing what we want to do and going where we want to go. Had always traveled in a group in Europe, including Italy in organised tour. I am very inspired by you both. I amazed to read one of your comments on travelling light. Do you know if there are luggage storage at train stations? Do you pre book accommodations online? Jackie.
Wonderful! Thanks for watching! Yes… we pre-book most everything. Gayle loves doing the research and planning months before we go anywhere. Rick Steves has a great video on packing light… easy to find in a search here on TH-cam. What a difference it makes not having to lug around a huge bag everywhere! Yes… trains have luggage storage. But unless you have smaller bags that fit above or under your seat you may not always be able to see your bags. In a big city on a crowded train that wouldn’t be good.
Thank you for this informative video. We are planning to do a similar Viking cruise. One thing I’m curious about is whether you had any difficulty getting bookings on your first choices for the excursions?
Not really… but we also make sure we do our homework researching which excursions we want and then go online as soon as our window opens to book. Some of them really book up quickly! Good luck!
really enjoy your dark humor storytelling along with your ever present pleasant English entertainer!!!
Thanks… glad to hear someone enjoys the “humor.” My daughter just groans. 😜 Thanks for watching!
As an Englishman, may I say that was a lovely little video. Everything was well filmed and completely accurate. As I think you inferred at the end, some of our place names are indeed a bit strangely pronounced. Borough Market is 'Burra', Warwick is 'Worrick' and Southwark is...hard to write....but Suth-uck is pretty close. There's plenty more just like that for your next visit including the American favourite, Worcestershire (Woos-tur-sheer)😄
That’s great! Thanks for the pronunciation help… wish you had been along when we were there! :)
You fitted in a lot in a day there !
Well done. Nicely produced. We did the exact same trip three weeks ago. Sadly, 9000 passengers ( 5 ships ) arrived in Santorini on the same day so, the local port authority closed everything down and all our tours were cancelled. ( They cannot handle that many tourists at one time ). Overall, an excellent trip and Viking did a bang-up job.
Thank you! And thanks for watching! Sorry to hear you weren't able to get off at Santorini... they actually told us that happens from time to time and were managing our expectations in case it happened to us. We really love the whole Viking experience and have a few on the books over the next couple years.
Love your video! We will be on the Viking Neptune in October on a similar but a bit shorter cruise. Thanks for sharing.
What about the bland, institutional food?
On the contrary, we found the food to be wonderful! The Chef’s Table was outstanding every time we went and the highlight of onboard cuisine.
@@fiddlerrider2808 Why would anyone want to eat at the same restaurant night after night? Do you do that when you are at home?
Oops never mind I see you answered below!
Have a wonderful cruise!!
Can you say which of the tours were extra cost? We are doing this in march/April 24!
I think most of the tours we showed in this video had an extra cost. The city walk around Kotor was included but everything else had an added fee.
thank you for sharing!! I am getting on this cruise on the Viking Saturn in October with my Mom, and a couple of my aunts and uncles, I’m looking forward to it! 😊
Thank you for recording your journey and sharing it with us!
Beautifully done! Many thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Amazing video! Thank You! ❤
Thank you for this video!

Wow. Very informative and interesting. Thank you for putting it together for us. ❤
As a south FL native living in walking distance to the Ridge I found this video very informative. Thanks.
This was great! As a new homeowner slowly learning about the history you share here it was wonderful to see such a great presentation of the material. I look forward to thanking you in person as our paths cross on The Ridge.
Wonderful video. Thank you !! I’m now even more in awe of my hometown.
Great video and great narration. We will be on the same cruise late April. 2023. Going from Athens to Venice Thanks for sharing g your adventure. We are super excited!! Cheers
Have a wonderful trip! Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
Great video! My husband and I depart on the same cruise in June. Can't wait!
Thanks for watching and have a wonderful cruise!
Love your blog! Your calm approach to describing everything is fantastic!
Wow... gosh... thanks!
I really enjoyed these videos! Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful travels with us. Great commentary too ❣️
Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
Great video! Excellent editing. Do you recommend this Viking cruise?
Absolutely! Thanks for watching!
Nice video, we will visit Cremona and Venice this May, saw you guys went for a concert in Venice, May I know where and how to get the ticket? Thank you!
The ensemble we saw and heard was outstanding! Both of us were professional musicians when we were young and found the quality was superb. “Interpreti Veneziana” www.classictic.com/en/interpreti-veneziani-vivaldi-in-venice/12020/ Enjoy!
Amazing itinerary! Beautiful trip! Well done. Thank you for sharing it.
would you recommend pre booking train tickets
We did. However it’s probably not necessary. Gayle likes to have everything lined up ahead of time so for us, pre-booking trains allowed us to relax and not worry about it.
@@fiddlerrider2808 thanks for the tip.
Beautiful video! I would really like to know the date of your cruise. We are traveling a similar route in April 2024. I'm wondering if the weather in the evenings will be too cold for us to dine outside or be on our balcony. It's hard to predict the weather but I'm trying to get an idea of what it will most likely be. Any thoughts?
Thanks for watching and thanks for the compliment! We were on the cruise October 10 - 19th. As you saw, the weather was rather spectacular. Not sure what April is like but I bet there’s some websites that can tell you what the norms and averages are?
@@fiddlerrider2808 Thanks so much! This helps to know your dates. I’ll see what I can find.
Beatiful vacation! Where are you from? I live between Como and Cremona! bye 💚🤍❤️
Thanks for watching! We’re from Florida. We had such a great time in your country and can’t wait to come back!
Spectacular.
Wow! Thanks!
Great tour! Brought back lots of good memories. Nice to know other people travel like with lots of tours, many stops and amazing food🥂
Thanks! That’s why we do the videos… for the memories!
Just wonderful! Thanks.
Thanks for watching!
You’re travel videos are great. I love the inclusion of concerts you went to. I wish we had done that when we were there.
Glad you like them! We’re both musicians so whenever we get the chance to take in a good concert, we’re all over it!
At 70 are we too old to do this Italian tour and then the Viking cruise….
Thanks for watching. I think it’s doable at whatever pace you’re up for. Honestly, I would have been good just hanging out in the piazza’s all day!
Absolutely not. We’re older than that and doing it April 2024
The statue of David is a sight to see. I love Florence. We stayed in Baglioni Hotel. Best steak there.
I would go back just for the steak! Thanks for watching and thanks for the comment!
Excellent video. Bravo
Thanks! And thanks for watching!
BEAUTIFUL!!!
You guys are my new heroes! I’m in the process of creating a very personalized itinerary of Italy (and Switzerland) and seeing what you guys accomplished made me know I’m most definitely on the right path for us. LOVED the videos of your hiking in the Cinque Terre. Not many who video the trails show the true nature of just how steep and narrow it can get, and seeing that will help me plan accordingly for our time there.
How wonderful! Bring good walking shoes! And yes, it’s steep and you go up A LOT of steps… especially between Manarola and Volastra. Thanks for the compliment and thanks for watching our video! Enjoy your trip!
Very nice video. I am wondering what month did you do this trip? It looks warm in Cinque Terre. But in Varenna it looks almost like winter.
Varenna was September 29th and 30th. Manarola was October 3-5. Yeah… it was cold in Varenna.
@@fiddlerrider2808 Thank you very much! I was last year in Varenna on September 13 and 14. September 13 was very hot day, September 14 was a bit rainy, but not cold. People were still swimming in the lake. Then I went to lake Garda, and on September 16 it got really cold there. How was in Manarola in the beginning of October, was it still warm enough?
@@fiddlerrider2808 By the way, how crowded was it in Manarola? I always wanted to visit Cinque Terre, but I don't like when it is very crowded, so can't decide when to go there
@@evgeny_web It was very warm in Manarola. While hiking we peeled down to t-shirts and still was warm. Lots of people swimming in the harbor area.
On a scale of 1-10 where 10 is full capacity, I'd say it was a 7 or 8. Though by late afternoon and early evening most of them had cleared out. You could really tell when the first train full of people arrived in the morning.
Great video!!! Very well filmed and we watched it while enjoying a glass of wine. If I had one suggestion it would be to remove your ball cap when indoors. It marks you as a tourist as Europeans do not do this and it may make you vulerable to pick pockets. Having said that you do you. Happy Travels
I'm so glad to perceive how much you have appreciated your Italian tour. Your venues selection included some very crowded tourist destinations and some others still off the radar or not so popular indeed. I have also perceived a deep and profound interest in classical music and strings in particular ... all in all you're fiddler riders! Greetings from Torino, Roberto
Thank you, Roberto! Yes, I am a classically trained violinist but my professional days are long behind me. The “rider” part comes from my love of bicycling. We LOVE your country and would love to see Turin and that part of Italy soon. Thanks for watching!
@@fiddlerrider2808 @Fiddler Rider Dear Fiddler Rider, thanks for your answer! Should you come to Torino and Piedmont in the future you will not be disappointed! In spite of not being on the bucket list of most of visitors, you will find a great choice of museums (Egyptian Museum, Royal Palaces, Venaria, Cinema Museum and Automotive Museum) and monuments, great food and fantastic wines ...
