Is Bend Oregon the Best Small City in America?
If you're looking to relocate your family to a city that will improve your quality of life drastically, consider Bend Oregon.
In this video I cover why I choose to live in Bend. Some questions to consider if you want to relocate to Central Oregon-
- Do I enjoy sun and spending time outdoors?
- Do I like smaller cities with a population of just over 100,000?
- Do I value work-life balance?
- Do I want my kids to enjoy playing outside in a safe city?
I can go on, but Bend is ranking as one of the best cities in the country to live in for a reason.

How are the school districts? What is the top rated school districts? Are vinyl record shops popular in Bend?
By " We have all four seasons", he means two seasons - winter and road construction 😂
lose the chewing gum mate
it's mega-bit not mega-byte....
Please don’t move here anyone, you’ll only make the lack of housing even worse than it is now. It’s expensive and our infrastructure is stressed to the max. Seriously, visit then leave…
He missed one reason why you shouldn't live here. #16. Brett Williams
I recommend not to buy from him.
Bend capital of cringe
We are having a lot more crime in n e bend due to a lot more homeless in the area that moved from hunnel road
Also if you are really low income only a couple of places you could afford
Anywhere in Oregon is better then radical left Portland
I live out side of that town. I won’t move there it takes me an hour each way for a doc apt. Thanks for your helpful video ❤❤❤❤.
Me too. Out by the Badlands. Love it. And I don't go in to Bend unless I absolutely have to!
Your video is 3 years old so you might not respond. The ISP offers Internet speeds in Bits and not Bytes When you said 200 Mega Bytes. That's equal to 1.6 Gbs in bits. 1 Byte = 8 bits.
Winter is number one reason I want to move to Bend. Dude, you are 40+ ??? You look 26.
Youre too young to shlep real estate. There ought to be an age minimum....50 years and up can sell. Too much selling by people who haven't lived a full career working real jobs.
We lived it mid 90s. You guys missed it. Short story. It's over
I lived in Bend for 17 years, it is so congested due to overpopulation for the size. Worse thing about Bend, people do not know how to drive or over stimulated. Very expensive to live there. I call it lil LA! Good stuff about Bend, A lot of good people, the out doors, a lot of hiking and biking lots to do but then again $$$ I left 10 years ago to Southern oregon, one of the best things I've ever did!! Oh and the Concert line up is spectacular! A lot of music going on in Bend. ❤
Once upon a time Bend was so wonderful. I was lucky to have experienced it in the 90's trail riding, white water rafting, hiking, camping, and skiing. Those days will always be in my heart, even if it's broken now.
Please don't move to Bend it has turned into a mini Cali except we don't have the weather, shopping sucks not enough inventory for the large population every thing is always picked over. The traffic is a nightmare because the infrastructure has not caught up with the overgrowth of people and cars. Cost of living is high housing is over priced. Long winters short summers so that's it in a nutshell they have always called Bend poverty with a view.
Californians will eventually turn Bend into a suburb of California!
my whole extended family/Ohana moved to Bend, from Hawaii, over the course of 30-20 years ago. It seems to attract people from Hawaii migrating to the mainland. I think you covered the cons well. most people I met in Bend, migrated from the Oregon Coast in search of sunshine. the old timers say Bend with the rapid growth has lost some of its small town friendliness. They say they like us “because we are not snooty.” the other point I would make it is very DRY arid climate that can take some adapting to. If you are “farm to table” growing biodiversity veggies etc. can be a challenge and they are struggling with water shortages due to drought. it has first rate both allopathic as well as holistic practitioners and medical care, however, the pharmacies are always maxed out due to the rapid population growth, causing people to complain about the wait time. thanks for the video. covered cons in a “positive” way.
Jerry Lopez ! 🏄🌊🏂
Never been to bend only corvallis. Weren't there a good number of breweries there some time ago?.
Homeless people work too, yuppy-guys out there in Bend. Unsavory, yes. Completely worthless? Maybe not😮.
Hey man, me and my girlfriend and our 3 dogs just moved here in the south east duplex neighborhood and our neighbor HATES us, damaging our car filing noise complaints, and being super petty…any recommendations on which neighborhood is dog friendly and doesn’t mind a little bit of noise?
🙄🙄🙄
Lived in Central Oregon since I was a young child and then lived in Bend for over 40 years. Raised our kids in Bend. We recently moved to Redmond which is 15 miles from Bend and it's the best move we ever did. Bend is nothing like it used to be. Bend was an amazing place to live in the 80's & 90's before everything started to change. It was like the word got out about how nice it was, no crime, cheap to live here, not crowded, and then more & more people began to move to Bend and many of them brought there large city ideas with them. Housing & shopping started to be built on every empty space, older businesses began to disappear and new ones took their places. Which then caused a housing shortage and rent & home prices increased so much that no one can afford to live there anymore which is why we bought our home in Redmond. Bend homes are now so expensive that your average income family can't afford to buy a home in Bend. Bend now caters only to the wealthy rich and it's really sad.
Blame it on social media! Also, sadly things are changing all over. Much like people that moved into Bend and made things worse, you and others like you moving to Redmond will have an impact there as well. Maybe not as much and not as quick but it will. If you asked the local of Redmond, they will probably say similar if not the same things you said about Bend.
What are big city ideas. I have family in Texas who complain about big bad californians.
@@ederlikessoccerTexas sucked long before the great California migration, they did help it get much worse though lol
F this town! I’ve been here 25 years and absolutely hate what this place has become. You can’t even find a restaurant without some kind of B.S. gourmet mayonnaise. Traffic? While not nearly as bad as bigger cities, the big city attitude has definitely moved in. Impatience everywhere you look. Homeless and drug problems? Bend checks that box! Cost of living? Last I checked, the median house price was over $700k. 😮. I can’t wait to sell my house to some dummy who thinks this once wonderful place is paradise. Bend sucks. Don’t move here. 😊
I wish I'd watched this 3 years ago! Flights to Redmond from Maui are a good price! Thank you for the great information.
Glad to hear there's cougars in Bend. Hopefully they have some money too.
Cougars, the animal
It really says something when most of your "negatives" are actually positives.
Hello, What are the other small towns in surrounding areas of Bend, if any?? As for the diversity, I realize the state of Oregon wasn't/hasn't ever been keen on welcoming or opening up to outsiders, or people who do not look like them. But when i hear things have gotten 'out of control,' could you refer to what you are talking sbout specifically? describe as being toxic, would you kindly share what you are referencing? And moreso, if there is any hinckling of the town wanting to exchange the previous for the benefit of all? Regarding diversity, i am referring to diversity in every way (culture, ethnicity, religious preferences, transgendered, men versus women, age, ) for those who live within Bend, and any other small towns that surround Bend, if there are any? (Not the bigger cities that are hours away) Thx for putting this video together!
Homeless and wanna be thuggers caused by the Californian gentrification has ruined this place. Central Oregon natives can’t even afford a house because the median home cost is 500+ for basically a mediocre stick built. Halfthe homes in Bend and Sunriver are airbnbs or vacation houses. Stubborn old people in Deschutes county refuse to expand. 110 sure didn’t help either with the drug problem
Whats colder denver or bend
Bend
Let's not forget about the rude granola heads
You left out the Californians.
Don’t worry! Currently visiting. Bend is a great place with great people. I don’t think a lot of people will continue moving here. Oregon is a paradise state, but the taxes are ridiculous. There are many more paradise out there as well as overseas.
I love propaganda videos trying to keep people from moving/visiting places. Most of the cool, fun little local places that you love and make it great are supported by tourism, vacation renters, etc.
Watching from Hawaii, videos/pictures of the area is always helpful! Thanks!
Did you move out there? I live on Oahu. My family and I are moving summer of 2026
500 dollars down and 100 DOLLARS. PER MONTH? Just for internet? We live in Finland (pop. 5.5 milion,v so not very different to Oregon) where we get a cable TV and internet bundle (50 Mbit/ sec) for 3 euros a month and no down payment. You guys in America have to stop being screwed by the corporations. We could pay for faster but frankly it works just fine for us. And doesn't cost much at all. You don't need two or even three companies competing. You just need to get together and demand better service for lower cost. If you just keep paying more for poor service that is what you will get.
I'll bet dark haired Latinos do well there with the local girls. Those blue eyed blondes go crazy for dark!!!!
no jobs....for the most part, but most aren't moving here for work high housing cost....it's prime vacation destination, you wouldn't expect "affordable housing" in Park City either nature and wildlife a plenty.....which is why most want to be here, and live the pretend outdoor life (we need more adventure vans!) we get cold.....which is like saying Arizona gets hot you're in the middle of nowhere.....that's an appeal, but still not getting away from crowds, and now traffic roundabouts.....that ain't the issue (4 way stops would be far worst)…..issue: the road infrastructure was never designed for current volumes concert venue.....practically free live music brought to you by the amphitheater, every night in the summer, whether you want it or not change.....people come to Bend for a change of pace...…..but why come here to make changes?
Lived in Redmond, worked in Bend. Back in 2012 - 2014. Used to come out from work in Bend and there would always be groups of deer hanging out at the side of the building near the parking lot, also tons of Geese always lounging around out there to.
I like this type of video. I look forward to seeing more of Bend before I go to see. Thank you for not speaking so fast I could understand.
16:49 You cost of living section is confusing. So coming from Portland, LA, its going to feel more or less expensive living in Bend?
great honest videos thanks for not skirting around the diversity issue.
Bend has officially become the biggest shit hole ever. To much money for housing. To many homeless. Not enough employees working. Literally went into Walmart yesterday and they literally only had 3 employees.
There’s too many plants in the scene🤪
This needs to be updated Hwy 97 can be a nightmare Bears❓
Very informative. You definitely cured me of wanting to move to Oregon, especially Bend lol.
I've always wanted to move to Bend. I looked into it several years ago. Was too expensive. But I always thought it was a beautiful town when I used to pass through going from Washington to California.
Went to Smith Rock with my uncle and got called the n word multiple times while rock climbing with my elder family
