The two dragons in the thumbnail I'd imagine to be Lantana's parents (the dragon's name)
I don't usually make backstories for dragons, but there was a section in the contest entry, and I thought it'd make it more interesting, so I did this time :)

Name: Lantana (after the flower that attracts butterflies)
Hybrid: sandwing-silkwing
About the wings: The inspiration is after a swallowtail butterfly, some of which are desert butterflies (get it bc she's a sandwing-silkwing hybrid lol)
Location: She's lived in Pantala all her life, but longs to see the desert bc of her dad's stories of it
About the tattoo: I thought it would make a cool detail, but the backstory behind it is that she idolizes sandwings and got the tattoo to both remind her and show other dragons that she's part sandwing because she thinks they're really cool (mostly due to her dad's epic stories of them) and mostly takes her looks after her mom
Why she has a staff: I just wanted to draw a dragon holding a staff, but the backstory behind it is that her dad gifted it to her as an heirloom that was supposedly crafted by an animus, and now she just carries it around everywhere despite it not showing any signs of being magical
More info: She lives in a time where hybrids are more common and it's normal for Pantala dragons to be in Pyrrhia and for Pyrrhia dragons to be in Pantala
More vague info: One day, when she was imagining the desert especially vividly, she messes around with the staff too much and ends up in the desert (she kinda knew what she was doing because the staff was hinting at what it was about to/could do with signs of magic). She's overjoyed, but when she decides she wants to go back, she finds it's no longer working and she doesn't know how to get back...

I'm REALLY sorry for being gone for so long, and I definitely did not plan on it...
I've started drawing a few dragons, but I would lose the motivation to finish them (though I do like drawing dragons). Some of them I could not get the color scheme to work, while others would have taken a lot of time...
I did start on an animation meme, but I also did not finish it lol
Maybe it's like when you do something a lot and begin to lose interest, or when you stop doing something out of your free will because it seems like you have to do it, or maybe it's because it's been a while since I've read the series. HOWEVER, I do love drawing dragons, posting, and sharing art, and if I lost any interest in drawing dragons or this channel then I wouldn't even think about posting, which thankfully isn't the case :)
I'm actually kind of proud of this, though I know the design is not particularly spectacular and looks more like a normal dragon lol. I was so afraid that my dragon-drawing skills would have been completely decimated...I actually haven't been drawing a lot of dragons or watching many videos on this account, and I'm surprised most of you stayed, so thank you for that- genuinely

Plus a lot of you guys have a lot more subscribers and I'm so happy for u guys!!!
