Whenever it looked like Nintendo "lost the war" like with the Gamecube and Wii U, they always bounced back to #1 like with the Wii and Switch.

You've got some people saying Xbox is getting rid of consoles, you've got some people saying the next Xbox console gen is close at hand, and they are planning to overtake by being first out to market, and you've got people who outright just admit they don't have a clue what the hell is going on with Xbox or their future plans. I think the third group is probably the most reliable as they at least admit they have no clue. In reality, Microsoft's messaging is all over the place. The only thing to do is wait and see.
Every single time I've tried game streaming it's been a latency nightmare. That's with 17ms of ping, 400 down, 30 up. FPS games are virtually impossible to play. I will never want to stream games.
Windows 3 did most of what smartphones/arm chips do today. But sluggish(can you believe flagship phones are still rated by how responsive they are running 2D GUI elements? Disgusting) Xbox definitely has the means to hire actual program engineers and make something that runs at hardware level instead of these 'web apps', which might as well just be flash applications. Early smartphones were able to run crysis. So they should be able to do cloud streaming And they've partnered with Amazon so they should be able get OS level tie-in That said I can't even get Xbox remote play to work on my 50 dollar prepaid phone -moto g play(2021) Or my Steamdeck.
i think losing money is not a problem for Microsoft, if it was Xbox as a whole would've been shut down years ago lol Microsoft only dominates PCs and even there their dominion is threatened by Steam's push towards Linux gaming, so they need to do something fast to not lose their biggest base which is PCs and realistically their best chance at dominating gaming, the console market is just too dominated by Sony's hardware and Nintendo's software, Xbox can't really play in that arena, they're always the one in the middle that doesn't really offer anything unique or more valuable than the others. The only excuse people give to own xboxes is gamepass which is just a subscription service you could have without the hardware box, so you leverage Gamepass against Steam and try to compete against Steam on PCs with your own platform, that's what would make most sense to me. Microsoft has always failed at hardware, they're a software company and should play to their strengths

Once Microsoft can get Gamepass onto Playstation and the next Switch, they're probably gonna just step out of the console market all together.

Gamepass is like the Xbox series s it's just a manipulation tactic temporary for a few years they've already made their money so it doesn't really matter what happens now that's a typical cutthroat Microsoft profit-making tactic. We're not in the business of making friends look at the whole entire Xbox one generation it's all open manipulation for more money they basically ruined gaming. And now all the Indie devs have to follow their examples and set high prices because they have to pay Microsoft to develop on their platform what a mess that's what this really is but they've already made their money so it's the owners remember that same with 343 don't blame anybody blame the owners. 💯

Online play for Xbox 360 will most likely continue even after the X360 store closes. And the stores for Xbox One and Series X will still be up. So there's no need to panic. Except if you're trying to get those great X360 games digitally before it's too late. But I'm not panicking cuz I know I'll get a bunch before it closes
Everyone will go Discless Xbox Playstation and Nintendo, Xbox might do it first but they will all follow, we have no choice, and Xbox is doing just fine selling games on 3 or 4 different platforms, 3 HUGE CONTINOUS CASHFLOWS, and yes they will keep doing consoles but those will be more expensive as it will be a "prestige" product, since most entertainment will be on the cloud, Xbox is now a publisher, constructor, editor, and also a store, since they couldn't or wouldn't buy steam, BUT they will become one through XBOX store from that they will expand even more. seeing my owned games on my XSX feels like browsing steam for a game to download and play which works the same, tho they will still keep "some" exclusives for fans ( very few ) but imo that's the future, and in any issue don't worry Microsoft can handle any loss, they didn't invest more than 80 billion dollars to move out of the games industry, they are to stay in every single form, and don't forget the next local handled Xbox in 2026 i predict.

2023 microsoft made $211.915 billion 2023 sony made 86.8 billion I think microsoft will be just fine.
You do realize most of that $211 billion is not through Gamepass or Xbox, but through Windows licensing right? Microsoft makes the majority of their revenue through license agreements with users and businesses (which is why over 98% of the world businesses run on Windows, not Linux or IOS). Sony on the other hand makes over 40-50% of their revenue through playstation and playstation exclusive sales.

I'm really surprised how many people..especially content creators who can't understand the strategy of Xbox...they literally have never said they're abandoning consoles and have literally come out said multiple times console is and will always be at the core of Xbox. This is why they have to keep coming out telling us that they're making a next gen console and then dudes come out and are like, why did they feel the need to say they're making next gen hardware. Yall jump out the window for anything. They've been working on cloud gaming for years and years. They already had gamepass on Samsung TVs and phones for years. Obviously the partnership with Amazon and the Firestick are not for us...for anyone who already does console or PC gaming. I actually really can't tell anymore with some you, whether you really believe the things you're saying or this is some strategy to build your channel or something.

@@Kindofbradatthistoo I mean... Xbox live is is typically never down and when it is, it usually is only parts of it down and not the entire thing. Playstation seems to go down much more frequently as well as getting hacked.
The only problem I see with this is that any potential buyer that could have bought a series s to not spend any money and just get gamespass is going to rather use the fire stick instead. This one way one another it's going to a affect console sales even if is on a small margin, and less consoles sale it's bad regardless, because 3rd party developers may turn away from Xbox, or at the very least not make it a priority when developing a games.
Phil doesnt need to make sense. Basic math is what would make it make sense. Based on Game Pass currently making £4.5bn a year, of which £1bn goes towards 3rd party games. To earn the same £3.5bn xbox would have to release 4-5 AAA games per year all selling 10m copies each. As this money is guaranteed monthly revenue, Xbox doesn't need to chase sales or try to sell consoles, they just need to get people continuing to sub to Game Pass in order for it to be more visibly profitable than sell a console that costs more than it sells and the hope people buy games when they do. 15 mins of actual research would have told you this.
And if you push that further you'd get that math doesn't work when you also own the game studio, pay for development, the work force, acquirement bill, etc. Yes it's guaranteed income but 4..5 billion isn't shit when you give up 10s of billions in initial sales! Appreciate the conversation but keep the tone civil if you wanna continue it king :P
@@Kindofbradatthistoo let's say for example each game costs £100-200m, for Xbox to fund 10 AAA games over 2-3 years that would amount to £1-2bn in development costs. Game Pass alone would be bringing in £9-£13bn over that same time frame so how would the math not work? In the last 2 years alone the Xbox division brought in £36bn. I'm really not sure where you've got they lose tens of billions? Tens of billions from what games? No games earn that? Acquirement costs is a completely separate conversation btw. No company reinvests money into themselves expecting an instant return on that outlay, most businesses don't expect a return on an outlay. Microsoft had £250bn in cash sitting in the bank, they either spend it or lose some of it in taxes. Investing in yourself to strengthen your business gets written off as a tax write off which saves you more money in the long run. It's not something that if you spend it you're in immediate trouble to earn it back asap, far from it.
Another basic math is also, that quiting from console market would make Game Pass just die considering Sony and Nintendo are not gonna allow it.
@@CrossUnity who ever said they were quitting the console market? They have just released a variation of the Series X and S and already confirmed a next gen Xbox console is in development. Just because they don't sell as many as playstation does doesn't mean they are exiting the console hardware business? You don't need to be 1st, you just need to be both profitable and sustainable. Also opening up your ecosystem to bring in more potential customers isn't a bad thing either. Microsoft doesn't need Nintendo and Sony, Amazon Fire stick alone has more potential customers who could sign up to Game Pass than both Sony and Nintendo combined. To say it'll die without making a console is ludicrous. It helps sure, but it's not the be all and end all. Consoles are another of multiple devices designed to draw you into their ecosystem to spend your money.

@Kindofbradatthistoo Becuase they were restructuring and focusing on IP that are high impact, specifically with Zenimax Bethesda. The studios they shit down were exclusively in the Zenimax Bethesda division of the MS/Gaming as a whole. 1 entire studio was already working in the same building as Zenimax, and got merged into ESO. One was a very small mobile studio that - for one, had a mobile game that had not been doing well for a while , as well as MS/Xbox not particularly needing more mobile focused studios. Tango and Arkane were both studios that had a smaller team left since both projects finishing and with other things occurring. Some of you dudes just like to run with the worst possible narratives just becuase and not actually look into anything
