This you tube channel documents the wildlife found in the Crystal Lake area of the San Gabriel Mountains. I use quadcopter drones, trail cameras and and gimbal cameras to document the trails I hike and the stuff I see.

Crystal Lake Ca Bear Dens Area

In this video you'll see bears, racoons, foxes, squirrels, pigeons and mule deer. This area is approximately 5500 ft elevation and this trail leads to several bears dens. This habitat is riparian and a variety of wildlife and plant life thrive here. Igneous rocks of Crystal Lake are home to Grey foxes and Ringtails. This rocky habitat provides resources like a home and opportunities to catch prey like deer mice, woodrats and voles. Approximately 1500 ft. away is a canyon with a spring and a river that run all year long. This riparian habitat provides the resources for the wildlife of Crystal lake Area.

My trail cam recorded a bobcat. One week prior to that i recorded what sounded like a bobcat or mountain lion growl. This led me to place a trail cam in the area I heard the growl and the video confirms a bobcat in the area. The bobcat appears again at the end of the video. at around 38 seconds you can hear a bird chirp followed by two growls which at that time suspected to be from a bobcat. Update 9/13: Just want to point out that I sounded worried because it was daytime and it could have been a mountain lion hunting. Great stuff, and thanks for the link to the blog. Reading about Follows Camp-too bad what happened to it and how it looks now. Used to deliver beer up there.
too bad there isnt more pictures taken back then or even more history or stories about the people and cabins in the san gabriels. For example who lived in the falling springs cabins or who lived in the bichota canyon cabins.
@@535waI agree-even some recent history or stories would be great. All that lost stuff up there is VERY interesting-like that mysterious old pool that's right off the road, where the road curves. I did some research on it-can't remember exactly what it was though.
@@davepage2466 More or less where where is the location?
@@535waIt's on the way to Crystal Lake-not sure exactly where-but if you are going up it's on the right side of the road, where a curve is with a bit of parking. There are some foundations, a rock pool with some dates like 1969-70 engraved in the concrete. I'm going to Crystal Lake next week sometime-I'll leave a comment with the closest mile marker.
@@535wa Finally got some free time-so it's shortly after mile marker 36.02 as you are going up to Crystal Lake-blink and you'll miss it-right where the road curves left it's on the right, you can park right across from it in the large turnout. The old pool in there has dates in it, it had a waterfall running down a large rock into the pool. If you go above it you will see the old channel where the water would flow from. Interesting stuff.
I have camped at crystal lake several times and explored the area 30 years.. and I have In the last couple months been 2 times and heard the same screaming sound about evening time and at night . I know the area and its animals and can't come up with anything to explain... Adams has no comment on it either
A bobcat lives in the area. The bobcat will prey on the abundant foxes in the area. See my other videos
The lady bugs do this in mass every year but please don't share the locations you see this phenomenon, just feel lucky you got to witness it. Their numbers are down.

Actually Scott it wasn't that bad yesterday. We'll see what happens tomorrow when the morning rush-hour gets going. I agree I felt like this was going to be an absolute nightmare. We will see and with Dunkin donuts going in on the other corner,we will see. Of course Duncan's would probably be busy in the morning and in the afternoon and evening than in and out would be. But the true test is going to be tomorrow. I live in that general vicinity and I try to avoid it as much as possible.
Wow, how did you get a waiver to fly at night right near McCarran Airport. Are you a Licensed Part 107 Remote Pilot? How did you handle the flight insurance issue flying at night?
