BMPCC Camera Control Review (Portkeys BT1 vs. Bluetooth + App)
มุมมอง 2653 ปีที่แล้ว
Hey guys i decided to do a comparison video of two different wireless camera control options for the BMPCC. 1. Portkeys BT1 Module vs. 2. The Bluetooth For Blackmagic Check Out our website TheMediaGoats.com Follow me on IG @TheMediaGoats
12:40 - that's actually a plus for deity, you can buy rechargable AA batteries and usb-c/wall charger and at any moment swap any died batteries with fresh ones.
True, just still prefer a rechargeable battery pack or internal battery.
Any update how has this been using during weddings? any problems?
Worked amazing! used on 2 wedding so far and honestly its a set and forget type of deal. I was able to mic like 5 people and use one a a floater mic. The only thing i don't like is that the app via Bluetooth will lose connection and takes a minute to get back connected once you get back in range of whatever recorder you want connect to. but other than that, audio is great, no issues.
@ thanks for the feedback ! Do you always check pre key events and ceremony mic is good ? Would love to just hit record and let it go all day
@@felipeandjess Yea so just to be safe i still check on them from time but you can see the audio meters moving on the app so its easy to check when you are nearby a recorder. I set these and let them run all day and had no issues for 6-7 hours straight.
Good luck, I believe in you
Thank you bro
Heck yeah man I’m excited about these I just bought 3 I’m going to buy 7 more soon. Weddings are about to sound dope! Keep it up man glad to see another Texas native out here getting to it.
THANK YOU BRO! HOW DO YOU LIKE THEM?
What all do you have the v mount battery powering in your rig? Can you also provide the v mount plate info too?
Thank you
Dope rig!
Nice Rig, I just picked up the c70 2 days ago. I have the same audio recorder and was thinking to also mount it on the back as such. I think i want access to the screen for the foreseeable future however once I've used the camera enough to not go menu diving I might switch to a more compact setup like this. Just from my initial play around coming from the R3, yes the internal ND and having buttons for critical settings is a game changer. Keep up the good work mate, love your no nonsense style. Peace from Australia.
AWESOME MAN, I AM ABLE TO USE MY FLIP OUT, I JUST SLIDE MY V MOUNT PLATE BACK WHICH THE AUDIO RECORDER IS ATTACHED TO IT AND THEN I JUST FLIP THE SCREEN OUT AND SLIDE EVERYTHING BACK IN PLACE.
@@themediagoats3341 Nice one, sounds like it's worth a shot. In fact I'm going to do a rig build with that in mind. Curious to know how you mounted the Zoom F6 like that. When i first got it i saw people online cursing trying to rig it. Today was my first day trying to rig it and with the one screw only i ended up using an arca plate as a temporary fix. Any type of cheese plate? I had not considered vertical like this but I'm gonna go for it for sure. Take care mate.
Okay i watched your video again you used the included single rig plate then onto the back of your vmount. Nice
Yea so my vmount plate has the screw holes on it. I’m able to screw the F6 to it
Hi iam hiring this camera, how can i connect a vmount without a plate to it?
I would do a cage with rails. Then add a v mount plate on the rails.
Awesome build bro!!!
Thank you
Sweet rig. Subscribed to check out your other videos.
Thank You!
Hi . Great Rig . I am just asking what kind of DC .dtap cable you run from the hypercore battery to the c70 ? Keep the good work up 🙂
Hey so i have the Vmount connected to a battery plate. That plate has dTap outputs on it. I use alvins brand from amazon. They are very high quality and have multiple angle options. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B081RM85RF/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_image?ie=UTF8&th=1
@@themediagoats3341 Thank you . I have also a vmount battery and tried a regular dtap capble to dc , but noe reaction . I think the voltage of 14 V is to low. Does your battery plate give higher voltage then . Thank you again 🙂
C70 is King. You gotta do the update. It has the face/head detect AF. It's killer. Your talent can turn their head to talk to someone else and you hold focus. For that alone... bad ass camera. Other features too.
It’s the one camera that the updates alone have made the investment even more worth it. The raw update was a huge deal for me.
I rented it to match my R5c, great combo
PERFECT COMBO BRO
Great content, man! Im DFW based as well and would love to assist you or shawdow you on your wedding shoots. I just switched back to Canon from Sony by getting the C70 like literally yesterday.
Follow me on IG BRO and send me your Info.
wow, you like the C70 for weddings huh...most of my weddings receptions have horrible lighting conditions and that's the weakest part of the C70. I've only had mine for like 6 months and I'm already looking for a replacement for my weddings, mainly because of it's lowlight performance...
I light my reception’s bro, are you running lenses with super low fstops? Bro this camera is amazing for weddings.
@@themediagoats3341 I'm using all 2.8 L glass along with the 50 1.2mm. You're right, if there's enough light everything is cool but the lowlight performance is just pure trash. If the couple is black or darker skin tone, the auto focus performance is also trash. I'm shooting mostly by myself and having to bring additional lights to setup is adding time to an already tight schedule.
That rig is nice!!! Super clean! Good info…#subbed.
Thank you bro
great video! what cable are you powering the camera with dtap or usbc?
What monitor mount are you using? I didn’t see it in the link description.
SmallRig Tilting Monitor Mount with Cold Shoe BSE2431 a.co/d/4C3mCze
What is the part called that connects the battery to your monitor

Great video, man. What's that dtap adapter to add more dtap options? I'd be happy to buy from your affiliate link.
how are you pairing the rs2 focus motor with the tilta ring?
yeah how?
lmao I just peeped you twisted the base plate so you could connect the follow focus. Smallrig and tilta makes a baseplate so you can use it at regular height. It has two screws too so it won't twist.
Nice! That’s exactly how I’m going to build my rig.
Hello, what is that extra power adapter you put on to get 4 D taps?
Question does the Advanced ring work with the Focus motor that came with the dji rs2?
100%
@@themediagoats3341 so you can use the rings controls to control the focus motor ?.
Hey man! Great video. How much space is there between the VMount & the gimbal’s arm? Looking to buy one but need to see if I gotta invest in another slimmer vmount battery. Thanks!
Need to know as well!
Great stuff! Thanks! Just what I needed.
the baby looks so cute 🥰😍
Have you had any issues with the balance/tension from the dtap going to the camera? That is my only concern with this setup, I basically wanted to build this exact same rig so it’s cool seeing someone else doing it already.
i have not, the motors are really strong so its no issue.
@@themediagoats3341 well that’s super encouraging! Thanks for the reply! I think I’m gunna be picking this rig up for myself in the near future.
@@NoahHirschy awesome bro
subscribed ! nice setup and review bro wish my Ursa G2 able to attach on that gimbal haha if I mind asking, how much the total weight of this setup ?
Thanks for making this vid I was debating getting the PortKeys, I had never thought to set up my phone and use it as the controller on the rig
Wow just beautiful 😍
I like how compact it is. Not overly long long some rocket launcher rigs I’ve seen. And to be honest, the screen on the camera is nice and all, but if you have the BM camera app or the lh5p from portkeys, you don’t need to use the screen most of the time.
LOL AT ROCKET LAUNCHER
Have you heard about the Tilta Advanced Ring frying up the RS2? I've seen reviews on it saying that - what's that about?
I feel like my vmount battery is not charging my rig. Is there a setting or something? It’s still pulling power from the handle. Does the vmount make the handle drain slower or…?
When you take the handle off is it powering everything then?
@@themediagoats3341 I’ve seen a video where it was. I though the Vmount powered the whole thing by itself… JUST THE VMOUNT. No handle. th-cam.com/video/TBm_8DmQZiY/w-d-xo.html I could be wrong.
@@bentleyweddings2503 it does power everything. I’m asking, without the handle on, does the v mount power everything then?
@@themediagoats3341 NO. Not for me at least.
Hey I’m pursuing filmmaking too, just wondering how do you find clients for your weddings, music videos etc, do you freelance online?
Hey so, there is no 1 answer for this. From my experience I would say. 1. Build a portfolio. That means if you don’t have any weddings shot already to showcase the. Shoot some for your friends or family for little or no money to build your portfolio. 2. Find a format for how you shoot so that you can build a certain look/style that is consistent. 3. Invest in classes, learn as much as you can from people who have been in the game.
@@themediagoats3341 thx for the reply, but how do you find the clients?
@@tamriel4243 you promote your portfolio online, also word of mouth from previous clients.
@@themediagoats3341 ok thx
🙌 thank you
FASHO BRO
Great video, I feel you about the mic... Do you have any idea as to the total weight of this rig? Happy New Year from Athens, Greece.
Hey I’ll re weigh it tomorrow but the last time I weighed it, it was roughly 16lbs. I’ve changed some things since then though
NICEEEE RIG! Ive been filming for about 10 years and I'm now looking into building a rig for my 6k pro as its my first cinema camera..your setup definitely is inspiring .. SUBSCRIBED
Thank you man! Lets grow together. Happy new year!
Thank you for this video. I just bought my own recently and believe that I will direct my own documentary with this camera I'm curious to know how long did it take you to build this rig? Never been someone to be so crafty with my hands. Thanks again!
For sure great for Documentary work bro. Honestly bro the build is an ongoing thing because i'm constantly learning ways to improve it but, with trial and error it took me about 6months to get it how it was at the time of this video.
Nice. Next run, give the rig more light. Can barely see that beauty!
Preciate it, will definitely do better next time.
instantly subscribed after that opening shot lol! great video!
Haha thanks bro!
Also, man, that Doritos part was hilarious! 😅 I was hungry as a mother F, so I had to run to the kitchen for a snack. Peace
Lmao!
Proud of you ♥️
Thank You!
