      @@scgmotorsport we are about to remove engine ,which has 329,000km on it,it did lock up ,so we will strip it down ,i guess timing chain/full set gaskets/guessing a build kit,i don't know if the bore is scored yet ,can you reply where do i search for items on this 2005 911/997 engine.

    Crank cassette bolts: Need to dip 2cm of thread in an oil bath, run the wet end of the bolt on the bolt seats, then insertbolts and torque them down. Need to be librication on threads and "washer" to torque correctly. Same with rod bolts, why keep everything so dry? They sell plyers that work very well for piston rings mounting. Only showing insertion of piston #4 (the easy one) in bank two, why not show piston #6, the hardest one. Also not showing the trick and force needed to properly seat wrist pin clip. Headbolts again dry, no no no. Never showed oil pump and water pump mounting etc.

      It is a 20 minute video, many steps are simplified: if I had recorded every single moment of the reconstruction it would have lasted 3 days!

    What holds the piston pins in place? Caps? Why is this a $25,000 job? Yes, it isn't American V8, but it doesn't look bad (you make it look easy). Can piston bores be sleeved or you re-coat or just buy new ones?

      When you push the piston pins in her site the ring in the opposite side stops the pin in the correct position. The ring in the opposite side are installed before you put the piston in the cylinder. Piston bores can be sleeved whit cast iron but we prefer to recoat with nikasil process. The complete process to rebuild the engine is very difficult because we have a lot of parts, it takes at least twice as long as an American engine. Unfortunately for my workshop this job don't cost 25000$ 😅

      Specifically the question is, what is the process for putting the ring in the near side, to hold the piston pin in from the side you installed it from? I've seen a few different methods but no good way to do it without dropping it in the crankcase.

    Scusami siccome ti sento preparatissimo vorrei farti delle domande. Ho acquistato una 996 mk2 due anni fà e ho provveduto a fare I relativi tagliandi anche uno in più perché aveva il difetto della pressione olio bassa e ho fatto cambiare anche l'olio. L'altro giorno sono andato a tirarla fuori dal garage e mi sono trovato l'acqua raffreddamento bassa. Subito dal meccanico con carro e ha trovato acqua nel olio (preciso che nn ha preso scaldate) quindi lui decideva di cambiare il separatore olio però sembra che ancora ci sia acqua una volta riaccesa e fatta scaldare. Tengo a precisare soltanto una cosa nella vaschetta dell'acqua nn c'è ombra di olio. Ora tramite CP mi hanno detto che cambieranno lo scambiatore. Secondo te può nn esserci olio nell'acqua? Grazie

    Complimenti davvero per il video e la vostra incredibile competenza, è un vero piacere ascoltare ogni preziosa parola! Riguardo il problema della lubrificazione mi chiedo cosa ne pensate voi della "scuola" secondo cui questi motori lavoravano temperature troppo elevate per ottimizzare i test delle emissioni. Secondo molti, soprattutto dagli USA, la temperatura del liquido è rilevata dal termometro in uno dei punti più freschi del motore, raggiungendo invece picchi di quasi 20 °C in più proprio in prossimità di 5 e 6 cilindro, rendendo qui l'olio troppo caldo e poco lubrificante. Secondo loro un termostato ad apertura anticipata gioverebbe molto alla lubrificazione del blocco nei punti più caldi, voi che ne pensate? Secondo la vostra esperienza potrebbe valere la pena questa piccola modifica o è una storia campata in aria che rischia di fare ancora più danni? Grazie anticipatamente, prima o poi farò sicuramente un salto da Napoli 😊

      Buongiorno caro, grazie per il commento! Posso dirti che il problema riscontrato su molti motori è quello di avere una pressione dell'olio al minimo con propulsore in temperatura davvero bassa (0,7 bar a 850 giri/min con olio 10W60 attorno ai 105°). Ovviamente non è il massimo dell' efficienza e una soluzione potrebbe essere abbattere le temperature (non dell'acqua ma dell' olio) magari con un radiatore apposito al posto dello scambiatore acqua/olio che la vettura monta di serie. Un caro saluto

    mustang 5.0 ,5 serie o sesta serie , pochissimi problemi , costi normali , nessun difetto congenito , .ne ho avute due ,tirate a bestia entrambe ,poca spesa tanto divertimento .i miei amici con le porsche hanno il portafoglio sempre vuoto ... la mustang ha il motore a vista ,ci lavori benissimo , non come le 911 che le devi alzare anche per interventi minimi e spesso tirare giu' il gruppo intero .mustang 8 cilindri a v aspirato ,ci metti un olio normale con buone specifiche e ti godi 15 000 km di sgasate a manetta .unica cosa che invidio ,il cruscotto della 993 ...il piu' bello del mondo .

    Great video but was hopping to see which ims bearing you used. By you not showing it I'm guessing you are trying to avoid a bit of negative comments? By the lack of the oil feed adapter, you are definitely not using the L&N Solution oil fed bearing so all this work and you installed another problematic ball bearing?

      Hi! I don’t worry about negative comments 😅 In this engine we ha e installed a reinforced roller bearing of our production without oil increase pipe.

      @sportclassicgarage I own a early 99 C2. The roler bearing would probably be the only bearing I'd consider but I ended up buying the L&N Solution plain oil fed bearing.
