Corypheus while they dropped the ball on him after his attack on Haven, he was still a great villain. Very intimidating like you said. Great back story. AMAZING voice actor who delivered his monologues like a megalomaniacal maniac would. He really was great but like I said, he was ruined in the second half of the game when he became a passive villain instead of an active one.

I just can't get excited about any MMO that has the same basic UI as WoW because from my experience it's just trying to be the next wow killer even if they say they're not. Action bars at the bottom, chat box on the bottom left, party interface on the top left, minimap on the top right. If you can't even come up with a new way to interface with the world then I don't have faith that your game is innovative different enough from wow to not be a wow-like, and if you're a wow-like then there's no way you're going to beat wow so I'm just going to go play that. MMOs are too time intensive to play more than one seriously, and I won't commit to a new MMO until one comes around that throws everything wow did in the garbage and creates something truly new, unique, and innovative.

There is a difference between people who feel scammed, and a true scam. A true scam never releases anything substantive. Ashes feels like it is just a dissapointment to the backers and not a true scam. There were many promises made that were not followed through on, and that feels scammy, but it is mismanagement, or technical limitations, not a true scam. Some suit overhyping isn't the same as never intending to deliver. The video i was shown to get me to try to pay and play ( i can't even find it anymore ) nothing in it was delivered. I didn't invest because i had just been burned by "Wolcen, Lords of Mayhem" who had an alpha that was AMAZING and everything i wanted, only for it to ditch everything i loved, so i looked for confirmation of those claims, and as i said elsewhere, never found a thing, So i passed. I FELT scammed by Wolcen, but i WAS NOT scammed. They just decided to ditch the features i liked. Wolcen came out, it sucked at first, then was pretty good after a few patches. Still doesn't have a lot of the features i fell in love with, but it was eventually an entertaining game. Same will likely happen with Ashes.

Narc is acting an absolute child. The more I hear about that bloke and his Ashes tantrum, the less I respect him as a content creator. Guys, if you have anything outside of constructive criticism while taking part in an alpha, you've completely missed the mark. I remember playing WoW betas that were a whole different game by the time the expac released... let alone alphas. Understand what it is you're taking part in peeps.

let's face it... AOC and Star Citizen will go down as the largest scam games in history. It just remains to be seen which will be the bigger scam, as AOC is at least 5% finished and SC is about 5% too.

i never felt like it was a scam while testing, my only problem was i bought my keys back in 2020 and had no way to know i wouldnt have time on the weekends to play that much

If there is any way you can get the cast bar to stay in place permanently, it would make a great QoL change for me, at the moment it resets to the middle upon relog/new game

The "covid" excuse doesn't work here. We were told they were all working from home. That in theory, "should have" increased productivity as it did with other studios. The engine change...yeah that is probably where some issue is.

ashes of creation is a scam. They havent delivered on their shit. Some guy who never made a game but has a resume in marketing, lol. Youve been duped.

think about it guys. 8 years of dev time, with 100 employees and they are only on alpha stage. Lol, it will never be released or if it is "released" it will be "early access" while drawing more money and never delivering a complete product, limiting your time etc.

I don't follow too much about AoC but I do have interest in the game and I want it to succeed. I don't think it's a scam as we have showcase of development and even play tests of the game, now if it's according to expectations is up to discussion, but still, people can see the product and even interact with it in certain instances, even if it's not finished. As a software developer who did a bit of game development, and had some problems doing so, I can understand having problems in the development cycle of a game. The problem is usually people have too much of a high expectation and it leads to unhealthy behavior and drama. As you said, everyone is "gambling" on the game, and as it stands, progress is being made, even if it's slow. And also good on youtube algorithm for showing me the video and channel, very comfy and chill discussion about the topic!

One of the reasons i never got into this game is that a lot of the promises made to draw people in sounded really great but i could not find evidence that those promises were the case. "The Character creator is awesome and revolutionary" and i could find no instances of the character creator being demonstrated so i could see for myself. Things that caught my interest as statements could not be verified, so i waited for more info on them. That info never came to light and the hype would move on. After years of that I am at the place where i am just going to wait for it to come out.

Ok I think you are quite wrong on the scam part. AoC kickstart was back in 2017 with estimated Alpha 1 dec 2018. Things that were shown and promised were not real. At best that's just misleading. We are 7-8 years past that. During this period a lot of things were shown future misleading. Alpha 2 is regression compared to Alpha 1, so yea calling it a scam is not far fetched, At the looks of it game still needs 3-5 more years of development and that's after 8 years of development how is this not a scam. At this point people that backed the game with the promise it should've been released by now should've been refunded already.

It's getting tiring filtering through these channels and having to hear "Well, NARC kinda has a point about...." No the fuck he doesn't. Not at all. Zero ground to stand on, and here's three simple reasons why: 1. The desert expanded. It didn't expand the way he wanted it to, but it did expand. Additionally, via the letter of what Steven said during the Alpha Two feature reveal, he said it was going to continue to be worked on, and will probably get more love than the Tropic Biome. That's it. There was no "it's going to be 100% feature complete. Grognards acting like Steven promised the moon. 2. "We haven't seen anything new..." -- Yes, because Alpha 1 was full of bug fixes which required most of the teams attention. Server stability issues were fixed. A whole catalogue of bugs were fixed. This left little time for Alpha two, which is going to last FIVE months. To top that all off, it's Christmas. Sorry the incel neets of the world prefer that people work through the holidays on their vidya game instead of spending time with their families. 3. Anyone that has even the faintest concept of development work knows what the hell a devtree is. It's where all the pending features are sitting before they're hooked up to backend systems. When those systems are ready to be tested, they will be merged with the test realm, to verify that stuff is working. Not perfectly, but enough to showcase. It will then be pushed to the alpha client for bug testing. You know, the entire point of the alpha. The one thing that was on point that Steven said is that Narc could be sued for libel and defamation. They can absolutely show monetary damages from statements that were made maliciously, but have outright chosen to not persue it, because what the hell is really the point of suing a content creator into the ground. Even if they win, they will lose public sentiment. Narc is quite literally getting away with behavior that can be actioned in a civil court simply because of public relations. Let that fucking sink in a moment. If the game were a scam, what POSSIBLE reason would Intrepid/Steven have to not file and injuction on Narc, and jam tort after tort down his throat. I know critical thinking is not the internets biggest strength, but christ alive, if you look at this stuff for more than a fraction of a second, it all falls apart.

Only good thing about this drama is that it led me to discovering this absolute hidden gem of a channel.
