When we set out in 2024 our travel ethos was this; Imagine if you searched the top ten sights to see in every country in the world, threw in each major gallery & museum, added unique natural Unesco sites and significant national parks, included heritage listed buildings and isolated natural destinations, and made that your long term, slow time travel plan. You wrote about each destination, the stories of local people you met every day, about real food experiences, local markets and on occasions even high tea, you travelled wherever possible in your own vehicle but took local transport in city as much as possible, photographed the blue hour every morning and night, completed a project of a daily shot titled one day one face, there would be so many possibilities. This Is Saigon : 🇻🇳 The Ultimate Walking Tour 🆅🅽
Lace up your walking shoes and grab a bottle of water (or an iced Vietnamese coffee, no judgment), because this week, we’re hitting the streets for This Is Saigon: The Ultimate Walking Tour! 🚶♂️🌆
If you’ve ever wondered what to do in Ho Chi Minh City, consider this your Vietnam travel guide in motion. We’re covering all the must-see sights-from the iconic Ben Thanh Market (where haggling is basically a sport) to the towering heights of the Saigon Skydeck. We’ll soak in the colonial charm of the French Quarter, admire Notre Dame Cathedral (yep, Saigon has one too!), and swing by the Opera House, proving that this city knows how to put on a show.
And because we’re all about travel with a side of adventure, we’ll check out Saigon’s museums, dodge a thousand motorbikes, and see what the city’s shopping malls have to offer-because let’s be real, sometimes you just need a blast of air-conditioning and a food court feast. Whether you're planning a trip or just dreaming of one, this Saigon walking tour has got you covered. So, come along as we explore the best things to do in Ho Chi Minh City-one step (and snack) at a time! 🇻🇳✨

Amazing Scott , 100% on my bucket list for sure!😍😍😍
Thanks for watching! Maybe I'll see you there one day?
Great vid mate. Nice walk around the city pointing out some great sights. The bamboo gig at the opera house looked awesome. Cheers
Cheers mate, I'm just starting to get my feet under me with the filming! Still small numbers but Lucky Episode 13 next.
👍😊
Thanks @awlmediaservices 😊 A walking tour of Saigon next week then heading North to Da Nang, Hoi An, Hue then Hanoi ✈️
We considered doing one of these trips on our last couple of visits, however my research showed them to be a bit cheesy and staged and just sponsored by the sellers. Thanks for confirming my suspicions, cheers.
I think if you were going to do the real Mekong you need to hire a boat and head off with a plan towards the Cambodian Border. Even the $4K sleepover cruises stop at Villages full of shop sellers. The Mekong tours out of HCMC aren't much. Even the canoe bit that looks Insta is just one long traffic Jam
I’ve done tour all over the country. They all will inevitably stop at some shops along the way to entice the tourists to buy some over priced trinkets and local products. Often times, these stops are not even on the itinerary. The tour guides get a cut of the profit. If you don’t want to deal with them, hire your own taxi for the day. They are quite cheap and will take you exactly where you request.
@@user-hs8hz2oj5d Although in this instance its hard to hire a taxi for a water tour (which is where all the tourist shop stops were on the Mekong river cruise part of this tour). Saying that I 100% with private hire or Motorbike getting around and seeing more of what you want to see 😀
Is fake information, bali food is only babi , other food is not balinese only from other islands
Is it, the episode shows where you can eat it in Bali - Nasi Goreng, Mie Goreng, Soto Ayam - The Food Joys of Bali (& Indonesia)
Great video 👍
Glad you liked it Richard - Its a Learning curve with more to come soon!
what I like about Bali food is everything is fresh, even the juice is made right there when you order it. And cheap, you can feast like a pig on $20.
100%. Some of the freshest food you can have. I personally love the sauces and spice mixes being handmade and measured by handed down memory, not out of a jar, individually crushed by a mortar - you cant beat it
Great vid mate. Very informative as usual. Glad you got to D10. How good is the food there!! Keep em coming. Cheers Simon 🍻
Thanks Simon - A little bit different next week (Day trek to the Mekong) Just watched your excellent Sumatra Orangutan Adventure th-cam.com/video/OAEtcs8gHS8/w-d-xo.html
What you had with your Bo La Lot was what we called string hopper, not vermicelli.
Thanks for the explanation. That makes sense. Learning Vietname food as i travel through and appreciate the info
Forgot to mention, in Vietnamese it’s called Banh Hoi.
Extremely Professional ! Loved it. Congratulations!
Thank you! Learning videography and editing on the run 🤪 More to come from Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) Vietnam.
Hi Scott, Great vid mate. Love the Com Tam, the eggy pork slice is delish. you've got to get Lynn on camera too. Cheers Simon
Cheers Simon, Lynn is a bit camera shy but she does love food and gets to taste all the best bites. She also funds the project by working remotely 38hrs a week while I go out and eat food 😃 Hopefully she may make an appearance in our Mekong Video
@@travellingplanetearth1 Yeah Scotty, Lene is not a camera fan as you have seen. Good fun though. Hey mate , with your titles for the vids, try to make it "searchable" . IE, change it from "Eating like a local: HCM must try dishes" to HCM must try dishes, Eating like a local! Just think what you would search for on Google. Eg "The best Nasi Lemak in Bali, compared to Bali Indonesia, The best Nasi lemak! Just sayin mate, Cheers Simon
Good Advice, I think you are correct but I just sought a 2nd option (Ai) and it agrees however with a twist to include the country as well that I have just updated to: Ho Chi Minh City Must-Try Dishes: Eat like a local in Vietnam Ah the learning curve ...
@travellingplanetearth1 nice mate. Happy to help. Don't fail, like me. 80 vids over 3 yrs, irregular posting, too many topics. No algorithm action with retirement, then food, then bike rides and advice, then visas, then hotel reviews, then boozers, then flight recommendations, then bus trips! FML, keep it simple Scott. You have a great food channel mate. Don't stray too far.
Keep these brilliant videos coming!
Thank you Belle, More to come! I have about 7 planned for HCMC - Basic tourist food coming out today (Pho, Banh Xeo etc) and District 10 street food next week (Sur Van Hanh Street and Ho Thi Ky)
I just love your channel and adore Bali, heading over in February....oh and great food choices
Enjoy your trip and yes the Bali food is amazing. We've just headed up to Vietnam for three months which so far is way more chaotic and will be coming back to complete Java, Sumatra, Lombok and Bali mid 2025
Great Insight! Definitely on my bucket list for sure 😋
Hope you get to experience it Liam - The street food is something else!
Wow! That took an Extremely PROFESSIONAL Turn! Bali was really well done... but you've found your footing in Vietnam! Interesting Storyline. Excellent Narration. Brilliant and Interesting B-Roll. Great Music Choices! Well done.
Appreciate the feedback! So much food to try in Vietnam. I'm really enjoying the challenge of capturing the local flavours.
Hope you enjoy this weeks episode themed on the main tourist foods with a few local attractions included. I am filming three episodes simultaneously this week (A tour to the Mekong River, More Food in the Capital District and Street food out in the suburbs
Loving these videos! Makes it feel like I’m actually there
Happy your enjoying the trip Sarah. Is there a Vietnamese meal you want to see?
Good vid mate. Making me hungry. Love charred Bo La Lot with a beer, nice one!👌🏻🍻
Thank Simon & Lene - Astounding amount of food choices in Vietnam Watching your new series in Sumatra It Looks great th-cam.com/video/a4CP7YwB14U/w-d-xo.html Planning on being there mid year
The food at at Mona Lisa looks fantastic!
It certainly does and is my go to place in Sanur
Excellent job, Scott. Left me feeling hungry, yet again. Quote of the Season: 'It's a tough job.' 🤣🤣🤣
Thanks @awlmediaservices. That quote may be subjective
I think it's best choice boss
Yes, Indonesian food has flavour and depth. And with so many regions there is always a local specialty. So many choices. I am looking forward to travelling and filming Java and Sumatra next year.
But love Sanur
Its one of our favourite travel places. Our go to place for relaxation
Got sick on not fully cooked eggs
It can happen. anywhere - Ive had the odd piece of seafood/meat get me here and there, especially those ones sitting in the market suns - The joys of travel
How good!
Thanks @sarahlindus1483 - Looking forward to your Chaotic Adventures one day
Another great vid Scott. I'm getting bloody hungry now! Nothing wrong with a bit of day drinking 🤣🍻👌👌. If you could leave the food description up on the screen for an extra few seconds, that would be awesome. Cheers
Thanks Simon and Lene. My wife also said I should extend the description in future 🤣. Bali has been a good training run with Editing. Heading to Vietnam for 12 weeks so hoping to up the game from next week
@travellingplanetearth1 nice one guys. Have a great time in Vietnam. Make sure you do the train trip between DaNang and Hue. Awesome scenery in either direction. Cheers
I’m now very hungry for something spicy with rice.
Hope you enjoyed the Episode Kristen - Im heading to Vietnam tomorrow so the spice episodes will continue ...
Nice video
Thanks - More to come from Bali then hopefully Java and Sumatra next year
Nasi campur bali so delicious 🤤
Nasi Campur is great Nyoman But Bakso is my favourite 🤣
When you ordered nasi campur in a Padang Shop, the veggies are complimentary with the rice. So don't miss on the veggies and be sure to ask for it, say yes if the shopkeeper say "sayur".
Great advice @ThatDruidDude - I will keep that in mind
Great food reviews man..yes rendang is Indonesia secret weapon ..top notch dish from west Sumatra region ..for other great taste Indonesian food just watch mark wiens Indonesian series..
I cannot wait to travel Sumatra next year and experience all it has to offer - M.Wiens is awesome on food
Hi Scott, Just saw your vid on a youtube recommendation. Great video mate, awesome intro and great info on the video and in the description. You know your stuff with food, which is cool. I can tell that you have invested a lot of time in making these videos and wish you all the best for the channel. Nice one, Cheers Simon
Thank you @Get-A-Life (Simon) - Just starting off but trying to put 100% into it from the start.
Ps. Heading to Vietnam next week for three months so just subscribed to your channel for some tips
@travellingplanetearth1 good job so far Scott. Looks pretty schmick!👌👌👌
great video, everything is explained in details! greetings from Jakarta
Thankyou for watching @stephenhalim3192 - I am looking forward to visiting Sumatra and Java mid 2025 and spending some time experiencing Jakarta
Excellent Episode! Loved the food tour. And, yes, it is almost 1am here ...and I am, now, very hungry. 🤣
Thanks @awlmediaservices - A little bit of a direction change and the future will have a lot more food (plus local attractions)
I need to start a T-Shirt range with this weeks classics "Spice is Good", "Sambal is Good" and my favourite "Nicey Spicy" 🙂
Great content, look forward to following your adventures. Nice meeting you both in Sanur.
Thanks! Hope you enjoy the Bali series, lots more to come!
Ubud is soul of bali
It is @hariopamungkas3746 - One of my favourite places on this planet.
Your friends seem lovely. I HAVE Liked and Subscribed. 😂
They are! And very happy to do the Like and Subscribe bit
😊👍
Thanks @awlmediaservices
😊👍
Thanks @awlmediaservices. A little bit different style for episode 3 and just 15 minutes. Looking forward to monkeys, rice fields and ceremonies in Ubud next (and hopefully not much more about erupting volcanoes as is the case at the moment)
@@travellingplanetearth1 I liked the 15 minutes. Was very crisp. Did you cause the eruption? You tend to upset the World, wherever you go. Also, a few more 'step' Episodes like that and you'll be ready for an IronMan Crown. 😊🐒
Very enjoyable, Scott and Lynn. Looking forward to more!
Thank you Wayne - Looking forward to Nusa Penida Bali Next
Once again well done, they really are enjoyable to watch. Tejakula might just get a visit from us next trip.😊
Thanks David, I think you would enjoy it Ps.. Just got back from doing a double at Manta Point and Crystal Bay at Penida. Big swell/current and low visibility but still plenty of close up Manta's (pity I don't have a 30m Gopro housing - Yet)
Excellent introduction to your Journey. Very keen to see more. Congratulations! All the best.
Thank you so much! @awlmediaservices - More to come, hope you enjoy
well done, very easy to watch keep them coming.
Thanks 👍 @Davywatts - Next one in a week on Tejakula - Hopefully they will get better each time
Amazing photography and great info. Congrats on your first blog. Looking forward to the next one!!
Thanks so much Carolyn
So beautiful and informative
Glad you Liked it Liam & Mandy - Next one has Lynnikins in it
Amazing! 🤩
Thanks Laura. Im happy wth it for a first attempt - Looking forward to next weeks
Great video 👏
Thanks Sarah. Next week Lynn appears
