Variation on Joy to the World
This is a "Variation on Joy to the World". It started with a pipe organ arrangement, which I've enhanced with some additional instruments -- trumpets, strings, chimes, timpani drums, and cymbals. I'm playing all the instruments you hear on my Roland Fantom EX.
Enjoy.

Joy to the World

This is my cover of Mannheim Steamroller's "Joy to the Word", their popular and high energy hit version. This was a complex piece to figure out and play, but in the end, I'm really pleased with how it turned out. I'm playing all the instruments and sounds that you hear on my Roland Fantom EX, including harpsichord, brass horns (trumpets, French horn, trombone), strings, bass guitar, drums, timp...
Listen 2 the Groove
มุมมอง 832 หลายเดือนก่อน
I enjoy the music of Jessy J and saw her in concert a couple days ago. This is one of hers: Listen 2 the Groove. Kind of a mellow / funky groove. I have a hard time making songs sound good which have a Sax lead. But I gave it a shot anyway. It does have a fun bridge, just over half way in. Playing all instruments on my Roland Fantom, using a software VST for the sax part.
Baby Maybe
มุมมอง 1412 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is "Baby Maybe", a fun smooth jazz piece originally by the Allen Carman Project. I'm using some (silent) snips from their original video. I'm playing all the instruments you hear on my Roland Fantom 8, including trumpets, trombone, saxophones, flute, vibraphone, electric guitars, bass guitar, background strings, organ, bongos, and drums. Enjoy!
A Fantom Amadeus

This is "A Fantom Amadeus", which is my modern take on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's Symphony #40 in G Minor. With some ideas and silent video from the German heavy metal band "Accept". The song builds in the latter half. I'm playing all instruments on my Roland Fantom 8. You'll hear lots of strings and rock guitars, bass guitar, organ, clavinet, various synth sounds, and drums. Crank up the volume...
A Fantom Fugue
มุมมอง 1805 หลายเดือนก่อน
I'm calling this "A Fantom Fugue", as it is my modern and upbeat take on the famous "Toccata & Fugue in D Minor" by J.S. Bach. I'm playing all instruments and sounds you hear on my Roland Fantom 8, including an electric guitar coming in to bring home the ending. Crank up the volume and enjoy. (will sound best with headphones) Mark
After the Love Has Gone

Here's another song from my favorite live group, Leonid & Friends: "After the Love has Gone" (originally by Earth, Wind, & Fire). I've always liked the instrumentation and harmonies in this song. I'm playing all the instruments and sounds you hear on my Roland Fantom 8. You'll hear piano, electric piano, bass, brass horns, strings, synth lead, and drums. Then added the vocals on top from Leonid...
Boogie Wonderland

My favorite group to see in concert is "Leonid & Friends". They added a new song for this year's tour: "Boogie Wonderland", originally recorded by Earth, Wind, & Fire. It's a really fun song and I wanted to try playing it. I'm playing all instruments and sounds you hear on my Roland Fantom 8, then added the vocals on top from Leonid & Friends. And sync'd my music with a silent version of their ...
Toccata on Ode to Joy
มุมมอง 3737 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my version of "Toccata on Ode to Joy". It is based on an organ composition by Paul Fey (based on Beethoven's). I then created additional parts for two trumpets, violin, other strings, timpani drums, and cymbals & cymbal rolls. I'm playing all instruments on my Roland Fantom 8. The organ is actually a VST (Royal Albert Hall Organ) running on my Mac, played on the Fantom. Enjoy.
Psalm XIX
มุมมอง 567 หลายเดือนก่อน
A bit of a classical departure. This is "Psalm XIX" by Benedetto Marcello. I heard it Easter morning and wanted to play a version myself. It's just a short little 2:14 minute piece. It provides an opportunity to exercise the pipe organ, brass, strings, and timpani drums in my Roland Fantom 8. Enjoy.
Emmanuel Overture
มุมมอง 598 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my version of "Emmanuel Overture", which I stumbled upon quite by accident. But I loved it and wanted to play it on my Roland Fantom 8. It was composed by Michael W. Smith. This is a very energetic and upbeat orchestral piece, with a gentle piano interlude in the middle. The video includes nature and outdoor adventures, with the middle scenes during the piano interlude being pictures/vi...

This is my version of Supertramp's "Dreamer", their smash hit from back in 1974. I've always liked this song. I'm playing all the instruments and sounds you hear on my Roland Fantom 8, then added a vocal track on top from Supertramp. You'll hear: electric piano (Wurlitzer), organ, bass, drums, celesta (bells), and synth / effects. I'm using silent video snips from a few Supertramp videos, sync'...

A return to the past for "It Keeps You Runnin' ", made popular by the Doobie Brothers back in 1976. I'm playing all the instruments and sounds you hear on my Roland Fantom 8, then added a vocal track from the Doobie Brothers on top. You'll hear: clavinet, electric piano, bass, guitars, brass, drums & other percussion, various effects.. Decided to create a more light-hearted video interpretation...
Moon Over Gotham

This is my version of "Moon Over Gotham", composed by Keiko Matsui. I found a fun video of Keiko and her band members playing this song, each in their respective home studios, since it was created during the pandemic. These are the same band members that I saw in Cincinnati (Ludlow Garage) recently. It was nice that she let me sit in with her band for the video! :) I sync'd my playing with a si...

Thanks for the kind words! And very observant of you. Indeed, we did an Alaska cruise recently (and also about 12 years ago) and one of the stops was Juneau. We did the helicopter ride to the glacier and then did some glacier trekking. It was one of the most awesome experiences we've ever had. And the scenery was breathtaking. Thanks for mentioning it and I hope you enjoy your Fantom 8 up there!

Thanks. I was pretty new to making videos at the time, and this was extremely tedious. I took about 250 still captures of the original video and stitched them together to create a pseudo video of my own. Today I know of much better and easier methods that would yield better results with a whole lot less work. Oh well, learning by doing! :)

Thanks! I use a website at: lalal.ai Their software works as well as any I've tried and is very reasonably priced. You can extract vocals, or piano, or ... It's not perfect, but seems to work well for projects like this and when the extracted track is added on top of a full mix, it actually sounds quite good in most cases.
