A Vote for Change: What the 2024 Election Reveals About Higher Education
In 2024, Donald Trump ran on a platform called "Make America Great Again," which resulted in an 8% increase in the number of non-degreed adults voting for him compared to the 2020 election. This change was a key reason that he won the election and shows how a large disenfranchised group of people can change the results of an election.
This video discusses how the university system in the United States has failed to address the needs of this group because of its high costs and admissions requirements. Universities are also failing because of effectiveness, efficiency, and credibility issues.
But there are solutions that will help to build the skills of a much larger number of people. The first solution is to make universities more competitive by enacting a law that requires all universities to apply credits for graduation for any course in which any student can show competence-no matter where they learned or developed those skills.
The second solution is to create new career paths to become professionals through industry-driven institutes. These institutes would utilize industry professionals to develop the criteria and course content for critical skills. These courses would be high-quality but low-cost and available to anyone who wants to build their skills to be more successful.
By breaking down the barriers to high quality education, more people will be successful, but so will our companies, country, and society as a whole be more successful.

Rise to the Occasion - Lessons from the Bingham Canyon Manefay Slide is a book about the largest landslide in mining history. At 144 million tons falling nearly 2,000 feet, the Manefay slide was massive, nearly the size of 20 Dallas Cowboy stadiums being filled with rock and dropped from the top of a 120-story building - all in 90 seconds. The Manefay destroyed huge mining equipment and damaged...
