Welcome to The Center for Ballet Research!
I’m Rebekah JoAnn Guerra, a passionate ballet educator with an MFA in Ballet from the University of Utah. My mission is to make ballet accessible, enjoyable, and effective for everyone, regardless of body type, experience level, or background.
On this channel, I blend somatic movement practices with classical ballet to create an approach that feels nourishing, sustainable, and deeply connected to the body. My teaching draws from various somatic techniques such as the Alexander Technique, Feldenkrais, Mind Body Centering, The Franklin Method, Pilates, and Yoga-all of which inform my contemporary approach to ballet training.
I’m deeply committed to making dance education inclusive for dancers of all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds, especially bodies of color, because I truly believe that dance is for all.

Welcome to Level I Ballet Technique: Lesson 4 Center Practice without Intros or Talking | Ballet for All Ages
Join me for the very fourth lesson of this Level I Ballet Technique series! In this course, I blend the rich traditions of Vaganova and Balanchine training, drawing from my years of experience working with world-class teachers in Southern California. These techniques provide the foundation of our training, while I also incorporate somatic learning and inclusive teaching practices to ensure ballet is accessible to all.
Whether you're a complete beginner or returning to dance, this series is designed with YOU in mind. I approach teaching adult learners with the same care, detail, and patience I would give to a young student. No step is skipped, and I'm dedicated to making sure you gain a strong understanding of ballet, no matter your age or experience.

This was a very helpful video. I'm 61 and just got back to taking ballet class 3 months ago. I had a 15 year hiatus so everything is feeling really hard but I'm loving it!

If you’re really gonna go for it and teach the levels seriously, I’d request a really good camera and lighting quality so we get a very real and clear experience! Also, it’s hard to see your body, legs, your posture, and even your feet in the clothes. Maybe leotards and shorts or a skirt? Ballet shoes too so we know what our feet should look like.
