Korczak Ziolkowski was honored by Chief Standing Bear to begin the project Crazyhorse. This is still the largest Mountain carving still in progress. Crazyhorse never surrendered and was one of the bravest Indian. He also killed General Custer during the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Mount Rushmore was started by Borglum in the 1930's. They used dynamites, jack hammers and other tools to carve the mountain. After, Borglum died, his son took over. The early 1940's, Mount Rushmore was completed. Mount Rushmore features the presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham, Lincoln.
