hello i just need to replace the top of the antenna if you know what i mean? like the long stick xd. could you like maybe tell me how? or it cant be removed and i would need to buy whole new one?
I’ve been on that train😮
Same!
@@kirkcoatsccc594I just subbed to you
Thank you for making the video. Made the job a snap.
Very good. Just to add whenever working with interior cloth (especially light colours), as soon as you have the *slightest* amount of dirt on your fingers, go and thoroughly wash them. It's a real PITA but I promise you if you don't it will find its way onto your roof lining etc.
Thanks for the video, sure helps me get this done and with good guidance. 😎👍🏼
Thank you, looks easy enough, and a new one online was $15 bucks, Aloha
I had to replace my rubber seal under the antenna base and had to go though the same process. Thanks.
Thanks! The shop near my house quoted me like $700 for this...said the parts were expensive and that it would take 3 hours of labor. Just did it myself in 15 minutes and all the parts together came to like roughly $100 . I have a 2008 beetle and my antenna base has a second cord...was yellow and the plugs were square. Didn’t rly know what purpose it served and the base I ordered didn’t have that anyways, but it works just fine without it. I’m satisfied!
Square connector was probably for XM or OnStar. I'm about to do the same though, new antenna with XM is like $230!?
Can you tell me which base will work on my 08 beetle? Just snapped my wife’s antenna and I need to do this too now!
@@williamwright6258 Hey there! I took a peek in my old online orders. I bought the base and base nut from VW Part World (Part number for Base: 1J0-035-501-F Nut: 1J0-035-437), and a shorter antenna from Craven Speed (www.cravenspeed.com/the-original-stubby-antenna-for-1998-2010-volkswagen-beetle/) . There are sellers on amazon with bases, I don't remember why I chose VW part world in the end. Most sellers will probably list the makes and models that fit. Also the base doesn't %100 look like the original (long time since '08, might have been updated), but works the same and fits just fine :)
My 2008 New Beetle had an extra layer of sheet metal between the antenna nut and the cover. Had to bend it to get it out of the way!
Thanks for sharing that. Any more details or photos? Was this easy or tricky to bend back?
wow , amazing
Great video, thanks for the help. Worked just you shown.
Nice video. I like the music and your wee bit of encouragement.
