    I absolutely loved the talk on “Optimising Monitoring and Conservation of Threatened Mammals in Tropical Forests”! It was inspiring to hear about the latest innovations and how local communities are making a real difference. It left me feeling hopeful for the future of conservation.

    None, absolutely ZERO of these Primatologists and Rescue groups can even agree on how many there are in the wild. Best case scenario of all of them is 150,000 give or take. I would be willing to be there are more than a million. That jungle in Sumatra and Borneo are both dense as hell. On an Immense scope. For Christ sakes they’ve only recently discovered a third subspecies of Orangutan in Sumatra in 2017. Yet somehow, miraculously, an animal science was not even aware of the existence of are known to be about 800 in population. Now how the hell would they know this if they just now found the nasty thing? They don’t. That’s how. It’s a fucking guess with lowballed numbers to garner contributions.
