"Both of us thought you were an idiot" Both of us as in him and Eurus, oh I get it!
How my bro talks to me lol
Hey u dont be so iver smart...
To my Mycroft: you're the smart one, but you certainly always required me to be an utter jackass to get shit done. Well, my turn to be a pirate now.
Did they benefit from their IQ/or intuition? Did Sherlock feel part of society? Did Mycroft have many likeminded people to talk with?
I seriously miss their brotherly bantering. Suffering withdrawals in fact.
The big fair came from small spark
Those uniforms look sharp. like the Sam Brown belts.
What a great film
Wolfit and his damn obsession with principles. See Beckett lol
Average sibling dynamic
Lawrence of zion was planning it all back then too.
Still fresh, still a complete delight.
I’m as British as Queen Victoria. So your father’s German; you’re half German and you married a German!
Those scenes -- and others later in the film -- were filmed at the Plaza de España in Seville, Spain, not Cairo. Ahhh... a brilliant film. I saw the restored version in 1989 on the wide screen at the Century City (Los Angeles) theater in all its magnificence. A masterpiece of a film. Great actors in all key roles. In my life, I've had the good luck to spend visit Seville and where some of the action took place in the movie and real life Jordan: Wadi Rum and Aqaba. Glad I spent that summer of 1977 in southern Jordan before the tourists arrived. Was on an archeology project dig in Petra. In those days, it wasn't a touristy park at all, just a quiet archeological wonder visited only be a few hardy tourists. We had more visits from the Jordanian army, which was patrolling the area up to the border with Israel.
The general . . . PERFECT example of a Colonel Blimp!
The general does have a point at the end.
In many ways this is the funniest scene in the whole movie, which is full of subtle humor. Just brilliant in every way.
Claude’s hand signals are so great, while, “Shut up, and get out” cracks me up every time. O’Toole’s expressions are hilarious, too.
Can’t believe people used to think the writing in this show was anything other than GOD AWFUL
I get what you did there 😂
Nothing better than two highly intelligent sociopath regretting meeting people.
You expect them to be playing chess or something lmaooo
Why do I have this scene memorized
I could listen to them bantering for hours! :)
good writing
OMG…it’s that Doctor Who writer!! Love that guy!!
That is sweet of Mycroft to say that both of them had nothing to go on until they met other children. So Mycroft did change his mind about Sherlock's intelligence. 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
The moment Mycroft's face immediately lightens up when Sherlock said said "I used to think I was an idiot" is hilarious,
The fact that they're playing Operation will never not be funny to me
Thinking back I just realized how casually mycroft mentioned other kids and friends. I did never realise he might check if sherlock remembers.
I love their banter.
Every single line of this exchange is 24k gold
What sticks out to me is it notes intelligence is actually relevant. Being the smartest person in a room full of idiots could mean you’re just a slightly clever idiot. Being the dumbest in a family of geniuses could mean you’re still one of the top smartest in the world. Also situation. Albert Einstein lost in the woods could die looking like a moron but a back wood raised country boy white little education would look like the master of the woods. What to eat what not to eat and how to prepare things.
David
This scene shows the other side of Mycroft
That last comment by Murray, "How can I fight a bloody war without bloody Artillery?" is very foreshadowing because later Murray's replacement General Allenby when asked by Lawrence for "field artillery" denied his request and later demonstrated the restrictions the Arabs' abilities had in fighting the Turks in Arabia, here the Egyptian Expeditionary force is limited in its operations against the Turks at first. But also that artillery was the deciding factor of victory in WW1.
Sort of brilliant
# 2:05 bad manners or half witted
I love these two bickering!
There is a scene in Lawrence of Arabia at the Well. Where Lawrence meets Omar Shariff …for the first time. Peter O’Toole said that David Lean needed to do some reshoots during that scene. Peter said that when he seen the film of Lawrence of Arabia..that scene is where u can see him at the age of 28 and also 30 Years old…Remember it took Director David Lean to film Lawrence of Arabia over two years to film. The Close UPS are Peter at 30 Years old and long shots at when Peter was around 28 years old. Amazing
No film of the 1960's can do justice to Lawrence and the Arab people. At least this one is beautiful to look at.
The other film which had no female speaking roles was ‘Khartoum’, starring Sir Laurence Olivier, & Charlton Heston……great movie!
Themistocles was not a philosopher, he was a general (strategos) and a statesman (Politikos).
Microft-Both of us thought you were a idiot sherlock, we had nothing else to go off till we met other children, sherlock-oh yeah Microft-so that was a mistake, ghastly, what were we thinking? Sherlock-probably something about trying to make friends, Microft-oh yes, friends This is the most brotherly converstation we ever see them have...
Mycroft Holmes: Baka 😢 0:06
"oopsie :) <3"
How did mycroft end up as my favourite character......how did this happen.......
Haha same
The Drydens of this world; discreet, erudite and urbane, hold all the power.
a movie is a movie and I own this one ..however, Lawrence was Britain's premier resource in the Middle East from the start, providing information for successful Russian offences, negotiating of British prisoners in (present day Iraq) etc etc ...no novice
