Hi there, will you share your camel technique? I like your camel. :)
Thank you 🤩 Yes, I will soon!
Good segment on the shape of the mind of a coach❤ Bravo
TY!! 🤗🤩
love these videos!
Why do they call it the Camel spin😮?
I think it's b/c your body can look like an actual camel sometimes 😂
do you have a video for forward stroking?
Just posted one, check it out in my Shorts playlist 🤩
@ thanks! im on backward crossovers now! will look at your shorts
I really enjoy your channel and tips helpful. Do you have video tutorials for each skating element?
Yes! Check out my come skate with me series ⛸️
@@akcstyle Thank you! I'll check them out.
Thank you so much for this
More tips like this pls, or tutorials for each element. I like your methods
Thank you so much!! 😊
I love practising my spins but I still cant get the hook edgy enough, so I keep travelling 🥲
Spins are difficult to practice for sure. Try keeping your shoulders square in your spin position 😉
I always had trouble with my balance on skates 😮 thanks
🩷🩷🩷
Your amazing 🎉
🤗🤗🤗
Good pep talk for All to reset when you feel stuck in life❤
🩷 very true, everyone can use a reset from time to time
Does it make a difference which foot you push off😮?
Which foot depends on if you're a "righty" spinner or a "lefty" spinner. The best way to tell is by having someone call your name as your back is turned. Whichever way you turn your head first, indicates if you'll be a "righty" or "lefty" skater.
@@akcstyleI’ve never heard of that before but it’s so clever lol 😂
😂keep your chin up. Nice points to stretch first
That's so important!! 😄
Great job I'm packing my go bag today 😅❤
TY! Glad you enjoyed it 😄
This is very helpful! I will def be trying this at my next practice session
That's awesome, I hope these tips help! 😉
Thank you. I really enjoyed your insight and it made total sense. I’m taking the ice after 25 years at the age of 50 and the fear of falling is tremendous. I fell twice 2 weeks ago and bruised my tailbone and I am still recovering. I learned I don’t “bounce” like I used to. LOL.
Congrats for getting back on the ice again 🤩 That's not easy & even more difficult after having an injury. Those falls that used to feel like nothing when we were teenagers, leave quite the impact as we age. Wishing you all best in your recovery!
This is such an insightful pep talk, I’ve had many of these thoughts and enjoyed your introspections
I'm so glad you enjoyed this one 😄
Hi there! Adult skater from Massachusetts
Welcome!! Thanks for tuning in 😄
Adult skater here also from Massachusetts! Just wanted to say hi and thanks for sharing your story.
TY for listening! Will be sharing more in the next few videos.
The loop looks SO good so does your salchow your edge jumps and just fantastic, they look effortless (although im sure you put tons of work into them)
Thank you so much! 🤗 The Loop jump has always been my favorite & the Salchow was the first single jump I could execute as a kid.
Those hedgehog mittens are so cute!!! Where did you get them from? Thank you! Beautiful skating! :)
Thank you so much! 🤗 They were a gift from another coach at my rink a few years ago.
@@akcstyle found them online, thanks! :)
“let me tell you I’m so dizzy but I’m gonna try again” - every figure skater ever 😂
Are you left handed? I spin the same direction you do. Your spins look very nice. God bless.
P.S. I always found back spins easier to do than forward spins.
I spin counter-clockwise actually (right handed), the camera just flips everything so it looks like I'm a lefty spinner 😉
your jumps are gorgeous! love the flow, your waltz loop is effortless
TY!! Waltz loop if one of my favorite warm-up jumps 😊
Suggestions: on Forward stroking: try keeping your arms steady (pretend you've got weights on them), plus bend your skating leg while pushing off from your free leg, turn that free leg out. You're kicking your free leg back when stroking forwards. Forward Cross Rolls: Bend your knees a little more (literally sink into your boots) and really swing your free leg out. Good speed and positioning on your spins otherwise.
I love Cross Rolls- 😄 forward & backwards-- for warm ups! So good for getting a quality knee bend on your take offs & landings for jumps.
❤ great video! I didn’t know you have to go to your tie pick in the camel and then back to the rocker, I’m going to try that
Hope this helps!!
What is the difference between LTS and ISI membership?
LTS is a beginner skating program (Learn-to-Skate). ISI is a recreational skating organization for skaters (US & international). Hope that helps! 😊
Ty so much 4 this video.💯⛸️ I'm currently working on edges right now and this is a tremendous help😊
So glad this is helpful for you!! 😄
HOW. My backspins are fighting me like their life depends on it😭
Keep working at them & I know they'll only get better!! Look out for a new video about back spins coming shortly 🤗
Gorgeous flow and soft knees! My favorite part is “and the tigers come at night, with their voices soft as thunder” where you timed your back spin just before “and they tear your dreams apart” when you exit the back spin and your arms open to stop the rotation as if you’re tearing the dreams apart. Just lovely!
Thank you so much 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Whys the ice so orange 😮 It looks so pretty
Haha, I'm so used to seeing the orange everyday I never really paid attention to it. But, now that you mention, it is pretty 🤩
For swizzles, bend your knees and only then move your legs out. Like… bend them a lot.
Love swizzles for jump warm-ups 🤗 Hopefully this video helps inspire you to keep skating!!
You need to do your cross rolls and really hold your edges more. You only hold your edges for a few seconds, hold them for longer to really feel the edge. Your single jumps are nice and smooth, good speed as well. I'm sure you could do an axel. You know you can do it, just let yourself go through with it. I'm an adult skater and half the problem is the confidence and letting your head know that you can do the jumps. If you've done them before, like me, it's getting your brain to tell you that you can do them. It's very hard, but just try it. Do an axel next time you go. Be positive and do one. You'll surprise yourself 😊😊
As a long time skater & coach I can agree that getting over those mental blocks is one of the hardest things for figure skaters at any level. 80% mindset, 20% physical 👍🏾
Hey Steve, I'm a visual learner. Since you've been doing this for so long could you post a video of what you are talking about? Also, throw in an axel too, that would be great!
@@akcstyle That's half the battle, your brain, but when you let go and land your jumps you feel great.
@@tylerdodge4809 Tbh I've not been on the ice for 23 years but have just bought some trousers specifically to get back on the ice again. I shall indeed get back into it and do some practice. You never know, a video clip may come along too 😉
Whoa I think this is framingham massachusetts ?thr ceiling wooden arches looks familiar. Your video popped up randomly . From 0:05 - 0:12 forward inside ? I'm curious what element executing here
Lol, yes! I always love starting my warm-up with forward stroking ⛸️
I also like to rotate both ways. Would have better mastery over it if one of my learn to skate coaches didn't say "not in my class" 🙄🙄🙄. Have had some muscle imbalances too I think from one way jumping.
So true, it's difficult to re-train your brain to jump & spin in both directions after years of going one way. I like to think about it the same way dancers do, training both sides 🤗
so effortless and easy for you. Would have faceplanted at least twice lol
Making it look easy is the goal, but I was out of breath at the end 🤣
Good job. 10s across the boards.
Thank you!
lovely
🤗🤗🤗
To the average person, this seems easier than it is. Add skates on ice ... 😮😅
I am a gymnast and ever since I fell and broke my arm I've been scared of beam. Seeing this video helped me a lot
So glad this helped & sorry you experienced that fall 🩵
Wish I saw this months ago. Still, super helpful now. 👏🏽
I'm glad you found this & hope it continues being helpful for you 🤗
Soo helpful! Thank u
🎉 Yayy!! So glad it was helpful!
