I'm a Shipley boy myself, though living in New Mexuco, USA these days.

While I do use the paid version, I don't think there's anything it's doing here that needs 4.0o features so I think it should work. All I'm doing is typing in all the information about what's happening and having it make decisions. Very labor intensive, but not particularly difficult skill or feature wise.

Thanks for the advice. I think this run is near its end actually, as you'll see a few episodes from here. I won't say more right now, but yeah, things aren't great.

You seem to have a lot more experience than me, so for plays going forwards I wanted to check on some of the things you said... First, how would I play differently by acting as if the players know the stake? I'm not sure what you're saying I would change. Second, if I change the formation every time I don't outperform opponents in one or more areas, won't the team just get confused? I'm thinking of the fact that practicing/playing a formation builds up familiarity with it and so competence in playing it. Also, is it possible to outperform every team in every area of the game? I'm not sure how to achieve this. Finally, I'm not sure what you mean by slowing the game down and having the players take a breather. Do you mean slow down the speed of simulation? Or do you mean reduce the tempo? I was thinking if I slow the tempo that would be more likely to lead to losses. Maybe I'm wrong. Sorry, if I seem dense, but I appreciate your feedback. As i say, you seem to have a lot more knowledge than me.

I would have kept him on the field longer. In games like these, players get hyped up. At least the team i built from scratch does. Plus your team doesn't have many players with good on field chemistry. Only your midfielders have. Yes you should try to build a team that is comfortable and flexible enough to changes in formation. In the first leg of the game you had good possession but still lost the game due to their attackers not getting serious attention. If you want to stick to using the same speed of simulation, i suggest making it a habit to react or pause the game to really soak in what the numbers are saying. And also, make it a habit if you have time to at least not use simulator for one game. Speed the game up if you get bored but it helps you to build a squad. The heat map helps a lot to. You had plenty of shots but only few on target. But seeing how your players keep losing the ball, i think it would have been a good idea to aim for the extra time while letting them take a breather. I mean i know my team would never lose the ball if i slow down the game or how much during a high stake game and fast game, i can help my players to maintain stamina or their body language. I'm actually several episodes on from here right now and you'll see I have NOT done well this season (partly a bit of burnout from a near 200 episode run). So I'm more than happy to listen to advice. How much I'll remember to incorporate during the heat of the game I'm not sure, I am after all old and crap and senile (joking), but you do raise some interesting points. Thanks, I'm always open to hearing gameplay advice. Even on narratively rich games I stream, I'm happy to hear gameplay advice, just not story spoilers etc. So, again, thanks.

Not sure if that's a question or a statement, ETG? However, both the terms Soccer and Football to describe Association Football are or were used in the UK. Soccer (short for the Association part of the name) fell out of favor a few decades ago but is still commonly used in places like the USA where they have another dominant sport also bearing the name "football" (eg American Football) to distinguish the two. You get some brits getting mad at the use of the name now, but since it WAS used in the UK, and you STILL get some using it occasionally there, it's a bit silly in my opinion. :)

While the attacking play is not great, it has some potential as you say, and the defending is attrocious. However, the way our finances are I really can't afford new signings. All I can really do for this season is hold on and hope... or hope to get sacked and get a fresh start somewhere else.

This is not a "one club" game. I actually started with a club in tier 13. My stint at Cheltenham Town came far into the run. You might notice that the episode number here is 129.

@@oliverwoodcock5307 Nope, I started with Idle FC (tier 13), moved on to Yorkshire Main, Faversham Strike Force, Farnborough, Cheltenham and now am failing hard with Bournemouth after they headhunted me. I don't expect to survive much longer there.
