My city in Australia was gifted a set of bells that are referred to in the Oranges And Lemons song. At the time we were so proud of this that we built a modern belltower to house them, and it became one of the symbols of the city that stands out on the foreshore. The belltower is no longer a symbol and it is overshadowed by the nearby quay development, but we still have the Bells of St Martins.

The problem with having such great "breakdown" music is that it acts as an incentive to sabotage your local BBC transmitter.

Funny how they refer to themselves as Special Effects guys, not Visual Effects, which is closer to what they do... DT genius none the less...

They managed to make an AI-generated video decades before the invention of AI.

This is a fascinating video. So much wooden acting you could fill IKEA.

Wow i remember having a load of travellers cheques when I went Inter railing through Europe.

The older I get the more I recognise how much tat gets sold under the banner of 'collectables' - as 'The Times Prestige Stamp Book' cost £5 when new, and you can buy a fairly mint edition for less than £10 now in 2024. Thanks for doing this Mat - much appreciated and an important bit of digital archeology!

Perhaps this is the perfect video to play on repeat for the nice people of the Post Office that thought they could do math better on a computer than the good people behind those bars... You know who you are.

One thing that really bugged me the most is the frame-rate. The video had dropped A LOT OF FRAMES, because... well... 25 FPS for PAL! Not good. This SHOULD'VE BEEN in the NTSC frame-rate of 29.97 FPS! So, you might redo the capture with a PROPER FRAME-RATE for that NTSC standard thing.
