Pure Floyd - The Candy red 'Pulse' Strat - a bit of maintenance!
This is the strat I built for the 'Sound Of Thunder tour' with Pure Floyd. It's not quite the same specs as the original from the Momentary Lapse of reason and Division Bell tours, but is built to help me over the problems I have with my hands and my own inadequacies as a player.

    I am between the PRS hollowbody II and the Michael Kelly hybrid. I mostly care about the acoustic guitar sound because I strum chords in every single song that I play, while I don't play solos in every song. At this moment, I do it with Martin grand performance body guitar. It's full, bassy, and allows percussive sounds and bass guitar simulation. For the electric solos I just use a cabinet simulator, which is decent... This guitar or the PRS will provide a fuller acoustic tone? The PRS doesn't have a switch for the piezo... This guitar seems to have grounding issues.

    Hey Tony, beautiful instrument. I am converting a cheap tele to a reso style. To find the center of the cone location i plan to measure from 12th fret 1/2 of scale lenght then find the center of the lower bout side to side. I am going to remove a lot of material with as Forstner bit and clean up with a router. Does this sound correct? Thanks, john

    Awesome! First of all, you did NOT Play the Bohemian Rhapsody solo horribly! It was really, really good! Secondly, your guitar sounds much, MUCH BETTER then the cheap red special! I've heard one of them, and the closest comparison I can make to the original is that it's like the difference between a Gibson Les Paul and an Epiphone Les Paul! The tone is good, but the sustain... NOT REALLY THERE!... And there's the whole tremolo thing, of course!

    So polymer plastics are the only extant plastics, good to know. I was under the impression that acrylic and vinyl and... Idk celluloid nitrate or something... That those were also plastics...

    • @mikkabrightheart2268
      @mikkabrightheart2268 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Apparently cellulose is actually a polymer, I didn't realize, but frankly that suits my point even more because my point is this : it's absurd to say that polyurethane is the only plastic and you're not presenting evidence that fullerplast is urethane. You're spouting off the same hearsay as everyone else on every forum. I can say a couple things for certain on the subject. I've seen vinyl used as a wood sealer. Fender was forever using DuPont acrylics for custom colors. If the point of switching to urethane was to make a more durable finish it would be very backwards to start with the sealer or undercoat. I've seen 60s guitars naturally worn thru to bare wood and have never seen a verifiably urethane finished guitar wear thru. Urethane cracks and splits and peels. I have urethane guitars that are doing that right this second. It doesn't really bond to the wood per se, it bonds to itself and whatever it is underneath the 60s fender top coats that's opaque chips more like nitrocellulose chips than it does like urethane chips and it very much appears to be bonded to the wood. My money is on vinyl.

    A T Top has around 7.6k+/- The DCR tells us NOTHING about output. A 7k vs 13k pickup...Which is louder? Which has more treble?.. Neither can be answered..Why do manufacturers disclose the DCR?...Its simply because guitarists ask for it..Its a complete nonsensical circle of ignorance at the end of the day.

    I heard the string creak at the nut. If it is indeed a Stetsbar problem, and there is friction, read the direction, use a proper lubrication on the roller bearing ribbons. If the plates are touching one another, use a shim… or better yet- contact Stetsbar. Wonderful customer service. I’ve been using Stetsbar for decades

    I've used a 6800 microfarad Cap in my bass. Which has been the biggest capacitor I've used. I mainly use a 2200 microfarad capacitor. I don't like the way they sound with anything smaller. I've bought a 10000 microfarad capacitor. Just to install in my bass. Except it wouldn't fit in the cavity.

    Not sure i have ever hadf a Guitar dry out in the UK, its always the other way around for me, becomes too highdrated

    • @TonyEdwardsGuitars
      @TonyEdwardsGuitars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That would be exactly what I'd expect to see with a real Fender, made in sunny dry California, or any high end guitar from the USA. Humidity is generally high in the UK What I tend to find here is that the necks that are made in some of the far eastern factories seem not to be particularly well dried wood, so they still mature even though they are finished. The other problem I have is that some of my customers will have modern homes with underfloor heating and are much dryer than my workshop - and that really sucks the moisture out of a guitar quick. I do loads of fret end dresses on almost new guitars, so much that it surprised me too when I first started out.

    I thought the wireless was the tone secret, a secret that was solved with the SoloDallas Storm shaffer replica? I need custom pickups as well? Edit, I guess I should have watched the entire video before opening my mouth, thanks for the info! Edit 2, yep sounds spot on to me, if I went to a concert with a acdc tribute band and this was the tone of the guitar, I would be happy.

    • @TonyEdwardsGuitars
      @TonyEdwardsGuitars 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You know, I totally get the initial cynicism about custom pickups - and it's entirely correct to be a bit sceptical. I mean, there's so many off the shelf pickups out there, surely there's something out there that already does the job. The problem with pickups is not the quality of what's out there from Seymour or Dimarzio etc, it is that the process of finding the right one is difficult. You're relying on someone to accurately describe what is likely to be the result of putting the pickup in your guitar, through your rig. That's why I started doing what I do - not to have a whole range of off the shelf pickups but to wind specific custom jobs for specific customers. Sometimes I make those available because I think they will fulfil a good role for a lot of players, but most of them remain custom winds, never to be fully repeated. Often, the process of getting the custom pickup right requires more than one wind - and I rewind for the customer to taste or alter the magnet strength using my first design as a starting point.

    • @TonyEdwardsGuitars
      @TonyEdwardsGuitars 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@kaptkrunchfpv There's no specific reason not to, but just be careful that you know what you want for tone and strength in both positions before you put down a lot of cash on anything.

    I bought one of these last week. It's absolutely amazing, I've played many different types of guitar and couldn't find a guitar that fit me. The closest I liked was a prs and I've had 2 custom 24 se. One hollow body one regular. Both of them I sold due to the frets not being level and one had a huge dent in after a week. It feels perfect in my hands which are I'd say slightly smaller than an average man with thin fingers. If you struggle finding a comfy guitar try this (13.78) radius. Thease have them and also Chapman guitars amongst lots of others. Just FYI mines made in Indonesia in paridise flame and has stainless frets.
