Snakehead Bow Fishing Northern Virginia
Welcome back to the channel. Today I had the opportunity to go up to northern Virginia and target Snakehead. We saw a lot of fish and ended up with three Snakeheads and a few Gar in the cooler. Overall it as an amazing day. These fish were at one time invasive but are now becoming part of the natural ecosystem. They are a very fun fish to target and taste even better. Good morning, I was doing some research and ran across your video. As a Professional Fisherman and a Surf Fishing Guide I wanted to give you a few tips to try. I know the video is a few years old so you may have done this already, but if not I highly recommend you try using rigs without so much terminal tackle, take a look at Salty's Pompano Rigs, they are great I have won several tournaments with them, or find a local gear maker that makes some. You mention tackle shy and that is 100% what I am talking about. Tight Lines my friend

    I see all the guys who make these do the same fatal design mistake. Please don’t do this design because it will kill you if you don’t plumb fresh air directly to your air pump. All these same design makes you breath the same air the battery is in . So if it off gases you get a chemical mix of whatever batteries you are using and then you breath the fumes. 😤

    Ive done some preliminary testing with this pump and honestly i would just use two of them WITH an activated charcoal filter at the very least. Also, i feel as though any video talking about DIY underwater breathing should emphasize the enormous risk of lung over-expansion, because a lot of people building these things have never recieved any scuba training.

    Are professional pumps certified in some way that the air is 100% clean and not harmful. Please be careful with your child breathing from that pump. Why not buy any low cost pump from Harbor Freight then and using it for this purpose? How does an inline filter get out all the potential harmful things from entering your body? Not saying this is not a good idea just asking logical questions.

    • @us_angler1845

    I just watched this and you explained very well..I will see if I can buy a pump like you use with 160 -180 out put..adding a good air filter at end of regulator hose seems great...just not sure what filter,type etc to buy..also is the clear hose 3/8 inside diameter? Thanks

    • @us_angler1845
      @us_angler1845 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don’t remember at the moment if it was 3/8 ID. It would depend on what barb fitting you add to the pump. Definitely 160-180 pump. A basic inline air filter should do the job. Thanks again for watching

      @@us_angler1845 I went with 3/8 inside diameter..do you have any idea of your psi to your reg...I ordered cheap reg,but I hear they can be adjusted..I am thinking around 60 psi to reg 10 to 15 feet should be good...th as thanks

    So it keeps running constantly ? The ones I am considering shut off when pressure is right and go back o n when more air is needed..thanks for sharing

      Hello thanks for watching. I’m not 100 percent sure but I believe a pressure switch could be add. The way this is set up there is no tank for air. It’s a direct feed from the pump to the regulator. I have thought about adding a 3” pvc tube as an air chamber. That would give the ability to add a pressure switch. Appreciate the comment thanks again

      @@us_angler1845 so how long have you ran pump at one time? Ever try it at a depth of 10 feet or more...? The key is finding a great motor.the rest seems pretty simple...thanks

    How long does that battery last ?

    • @us_angler1845
      @us_angler1845 ปีที่แล้ว

      On average about a hour per battery is what it get. I will say using led acid batteries. They do degrade because my son likes to run them completely dead. It’s hard on the battery to drop that low and be recharged multiple times.

    Hello, I have a scuba gear that I made myself, but it is a bit heavy. I liked your project, could you tell me what volume of air your compressor delivers? And what depth can you reach with it. Thanks!

      Hello thanks for watching. The pump I’m using is a 120lpm. If I was to build it again I would definitely use a 160 or 180lpm pump. I currently have 20’ of hose and I’m more than comfortable going 20’ deep. All that being said if you use a bigger pump it will reduce battery life. Also I would like to add a small floating air bladder just for safety reasons. Should the pump die or something happens that extra few breaths would definitely help. I am scuba certified but this is in now way an approved system. Build at your own risk. Thank again for watching

      Hello thanks for watching. I believe in this one I had the weight pretty far up the line. I tend to change it up though out the day depending on the area I’m fishing in a pond. When using power bait the bait will float and putting the weight about 24” from the hook allows the bait to be suspended in the water. Hope that helps. Definitely change it until you find how deep or shallow the fish are. Thanks again for watching

    • @us_angler1845

      Thanks for watching. I would probably say power bait and rooster tails are your best bet. If you are there on stocking day or anytime shortly after plan for close quarters fishing. It gets fished hard during stocking. Make sure to have a few different colors of power bait. If you plan to fly fish and can get your hands on the imitation trout pellet fly you should hammer some fish. Thank again for watching. Best of luck hope it’s a good time.

    Hello, I am going to pack my Hero 8 for return because it only lights the red front led, they asked me to only send the case without accessories, without battery, without the cover, without the sd card, do I have to remove the folding fingers that are below?

      Hello thanks for watching much appreciated. If you are talking about the folding mount parts, no they stay on the camera. I sent basically just the camera and the door. They will send you a new camera with a door and that is it. Don’t send anything extra you will not get it back. Thanks again for watching
