    Thanks for the great video. I'm in the process of replacing several muntin bars and it is one of the most complex things I've ever done ( I spent 5 years building blueprinted air cooled Porsche engines for a motorsports team, have masters in microbiology, am a certified PA). My brain just doesn't work this way so my hat is off to you!

    Pocket should be held in by parting and staff beads. I drill a 1'' hole in the back half the depth of the board at the end of the saw cut and the centre of the parting bead groove. Gives you somewhere to saw into

    Hard to...it is a sash pocket. Use a backsaw. Sash pocket chisel. Or, just cut a top and bottom splayed joint.

    The parting bead holds the door in place. Thats why you cut half way on the parting bead groove. Been in this tread for 44 years

    Excellent. I want to make a glazing bar to fit slim double-glazing units in a traditional house. Can you show how to do that, please? How different would it be to this video?

    Well, somebody's got to start the comments; may as well be me. I started woodworking bout a decade ago with some machines I collected from Felder and Martin and have been learning eversince. Just because you have machines does not mean you know how to work them. I made a cherry 3 shelf cabinet for a bath and plan on making twin facing doors with glazed 6 piece windows using muntins of 14.5MM X 17.6MM cross section for each arc top door. It took me four days of hand work self schooling to learn the fitting of cross piece muntins. I plan to create a router bit that will cut the cope where muntin meets the outside frame rail/style profile. Like watching you do your thing. A bit of history; we came over from Wiltshire in 1635 landing north of Boston. Been good over here in the US. Good luck to you for 2023.

    Nice work Good to see someone showing people how to do stuff with hand tools. When I'm replacing cords I sometimes see dates written on the back of doors and you can see how some of the joinery was done quite roughly with the minimum use of hand tools and everything was nailed with small cut nails. Also ive never seen the scupe before.

    Remarkable! Regarding the coping saw, I have now seen a couple of guys put the blade of the coping saw into a kerf and then turn it ninety degrees and begin creating a perpendicular kerf without the saw binding, or the blade running off of the intended line. Is there a blade with an unusually small cross-section you use for that purpose?

    Very good old school technique, but speaking as a lazy sod would it not be quicker and easier to machine scribe and profile them afterwards? Or do you not have sliding table/tenoner? No criticism on your work intended by the way as your results are excellent 👍

    • @listerjoinery
      @listerjoinery 2 ปีที่แล้ว
