The Stand Easy Podcast shares the stories of the men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present, who have achieved greatness!
PURPOSE THROUGH ADVERSITY with Nick Lavery
In every corner of society, you can find individuals who have faced adversity, those unexpected and often extremely harsh challenges that life throws your way. What truly sets these remarkable individuals apart is not the adversity itself, but the choices they make on the other side of it.
My guest today, Nick Lavery is the true embodiment of resilience and determination. Nick lost his leg as a result of an insider attack while serving as a US Army Green Beret in Afghanistan. But what distinguishes Nick’s story is the unwavering decision he made to forge ahead, not merely as a survivor but as someone who would become the very best version of himself. Instead of succumbing to despair or allowing his circumstances to define him, he chose to rise above the challenges, embrace his new reality, and embark on a remarkable journey of self-mastery.
Today we talk about the challenges he faced in the aftermath of losing his leg, his book Objective Secure and the lessons within it, the importance of discipline, and his plans for when he eventually leaves the Army.

ORDER OF MAN with Ryan Michler
มุมมอง 25ปีที่แล้ว
Due to today's rapidly changing society, traditional masculinity and manhood find themselves at a crossroads. It's a paradoxical situation where, despite its enduring importance, the very essence of what it means to be a man and its traits is regularly questioned and redefined to fit these shifting times. My guest today, Ryan Michler, has dedicated the last eight years of his life tirelessly wo...

Such wise words on democracy from Ian Gardiner, and on every other subject he speaks of, would expect nothing else from thisliving legend, Sir, i salute you
Great episode! I picked up In Service to the Sultan after seeing it referenced in the Oman episode of Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown thouroughly enjoyed it, and am looking forward to reading his other two books. Having been deployed to the middle east twice (us army) I thoight i had a fair grasp on the histories of various campaigns in the middle east, but had not known there had been a war in Oman. It is plain to see that the Dhofar war was an incredibly important theater in the Cold War. Besides that, Ian Gardiner is a wonderful storyteller and I feel as if I could listen to him speak for hours.
Chris Caroe, then a 21-year-old platoon commander in X-Ray Company 45 CDO takes the opposite view of his former company commander Ian Gardiner, saying that the Argentinian conscripts from RI 4 had fought well on Two Sisters thanks to their officers and NCOs, "Despite being a conscript army... the Argentinians were a force to be reckoned with because they were led by skilled regulars." Nick Taylor, then a 20-year old marine in X-Ray Company travelled halfway around the world to meet the Argentinian officer that had largely held up the advance of 45 CDO for nearly 4 hours! Marcelo Llambias-Pravaz and Nick Taylor became good friends and a video of them meeting each other for the very first time on Two sisters is available for all to see on TH-cam. Mark Townsend, a former platoon commander in Kilo Company 42 CDO along with his wife visited Argentina to meet Lautaro Jiménez-Corbalán and his wife. Jiménez-Corbalán, then a young platoon commander in RI 4 had bravely contested the British advance on Mount Harriet. The notion that the Argentine regulars were cowardly brutes that failed to take care and inspire their men is largely wartime British propaganda. They don’t make them like that anymore, great man
"I'm only five foot six" WTF ? The guy's a unit !!
Hoofing podcast guys 👍
Dont listen to any haters that might say that your eyes are screaming benzodiazepine use.
RIP to the lads who didn't make 30yo who Paul hung about with. Incidentally also my friends before, during and after addiction and death. RIP RG 1980-2017 AC 1980-2022
When Yompers came out. I bought a second copy and sent it to Gus Macdonald ex Y Coy 45CdoRM during Corporate. He was Teame Leader of the close support squad for the UK Ambassador to Afghanistan (2012). It took 10 months to get there. After Gus read it twice, it was passed to the ex SBS, SAS and Parss onsite. I also have the Omani book including wit the event of the man who fsrted. From an Fifer and former Royal living in UAE.
Smallworld, Royal - I’m also a Fifer! Born and bred in Dunfermline! 👊🏼💥
My wife and daughter live in Dunfermline and I, went at home. My wife was here 5 months a year until Covid. Not been back here since. She was also in my Aston Martin 5 tmes in 7 years.🙄 In Sept 1979 I carried out a security check at Rosyrh Naval Base. That combined with an oppo from 42 5 months later visited Invincible dressed as an Rear Adm; caused inspection havoc for an hour before he left. At no time did anyone ask for his ID. That is why the MOD Pods are armed and the Royals and 22SAS test regularly. Also why Commanchio Coy was beefed up. Also hit invincible in Dubai in 1998. They failed but good fun. I initiated that same year the Royals taking over the fledgling UAE Marine Corp. 63 ex Royals for 3 years. Some local Yoyos went to CTC. Ar the end of the contract the local general officers started their own military company and hired ex USMC sssholes to carry the training. So such things ss vested interests in the UAE.
Excellent episode
The RM should have linked with the Green Berets when they spun up the new FCF. RM will be dead in 10years. Good podcast 👌
I was in Para Regt Depot with Sulle, also in the same platoon in 3 Para, and was witness to everything he has talked about here and more. I am incredibly proud of his achievements and his resilience to the Bigots; he has proved who the better soldier and man is. Absolutely outstanding career, mate.
I searched your name, and wow, there was a man name paul boggle in the 1800 who was a slave and then a hero, isnt it amasing? I dont know i might be one of those freaky types who is hyped up by coincidence, but wow, and also you matter, some of us are weak as hell, we need to know change is possible, and struggle is ok.
Sulle Alhaji is an inspiration. I will show this to my son, to prove that you can do anything in life, no matter what the odds.
Hi June, I hope this pod cast inspired your son.
Such an impressive man. A genuine hero.
Hey, you work hard to make videos but why don't you upload videos with SEO?
Fantastic listen, what an inspiring man.
Absolutely fantastic podcast Paul Boggie. It was funny, emotional & your just so genuine loyal & say it as it is. Keep doing what your doing. Your a true legend 💚. Thank you for sharing 💚
Just wondering what part of his story makes you say he's "genuine loyal"? I can see why you could be led into thinking he is worthy of several positive descriptors but even someone who follows Paul without a deeper knowledge of his story can see his mask slip in rants telling his own followers who don't make interacting with his daily content a priority in life to leave his community.
I could listen to Ian Gardiner all day. He is an inspirational man, and obviously also was so as an officer in The RMC,clearly well placed in life to give us the benefit of a vast and real-lived experience.
Not gonna lie, I was quite nervous about interviewing him. I’d only ever heard him speak at CTC before so didn’t quite k is what to expect from an old-school officer but I’d say from the offset my nerves washed away and he made me feel right at home on my own podcast!
Great podcast 😁
Write a book🙌
Cheers, Paul! Looking forward to our chat soon! 💪🏼💥
Great podcast guys
Great first episode. But you wouldn't know this is the first. Crash comes across very professional and like he's been at this for years. Very enjoyable, look forward to more. Keep smashing it Royal 💪
