Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth vs. Remake: Did It Offer the Closure I Was Looking For?
Hey everyone, I'm glad to be back and posting again! I hope you are all well. I have been wanting to make this video for some time. I was really digging the Persona Content that I had been making and do still plan on making more but there isn't a whole bunch going on currently. I love Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth but it left me with more questions than answers. This only makes me more excited for Part 3 but who knows when we will end up seeing that lol. I hope you all did enjoY!

I felt the same after Remake. I thought they ruined FF7 forever. But after watching all the theories for the years after and before, I was totally open to the timelines and everything. Max dood kept my hopes up. Even though I hate timelines. But after rebirth I was floored, positively. The whole Cloud being insane, smiling at nothing, seeing Aerith there. That was insane and terrific. I did all the side content first play through and yes it destroyed the pacing. But I just finished my second play through and did none of the side content, and I’m happy to say, the pacing is good. Kinda feels like the original in a way.
I feel pretty much 1:1 with you, I had a hard time with everything at first but I’m actually excited to see where we are going with it at this point! I’m just hoping Part 3 makes sense as I’m a huge remake pusher and now totally okay with the timeline and so forth just at first was not very happy. I’m happy and a huge fan now though!
I dunno how the algorithm blessed me with an obscure channel that shows me a video with the same thoughts about these games. I was excited to see the later additions to ff7 be intergrated into a remake of the original but the strange plot twisting ideas that Nomura adds to the table felt like confusion for the sake of confusion despite there being so much to enjoy with the polish of the original experience.
@@Skibidiligma47578 Thank you for such an awesome comment! I was wondering how people would take this video to be honest lol! I’m glad to see there are others out there as well!!
Awesome
I don’t think it needs one but that doesn’t mean ATLUS ain’t gonna make one
Whatever fixes the random ass rng crashes is fine by me
In like the year 2030 it should get a remake
Yes. Me too i actually felt an odd depression after persona 3 reload. Something i havent experienced in a long time if ever from a game. Its crazy.
Have a happy new year SagaXL
I hope you do as well! Thank you! Ill have a new video hopefully end of this week!
It's been more than a year since Persona 3 Reload.
Not yet...
I would much rather see a new game firsr. P4G still holds up very well imo so there isnt any need for a remake as yet.
Personally I think that, while the original trilogy of the Persona games need a remake asap, a Persona 4 Remake is probably what we are gonna get first because it makes way more sense financially for Atlus. Something about Persona 3 and 4 is that the both of these had their launch dates separated by only 2 years. This was because Atlus reused lots of assets between these 2, which is why they look and play so similar and why they have the very same models for Shadows. All of this is something that will probably translate into the Persona 4 Remake too now that they have Unreal worked out and already have a bunch of models and systems from Persona 3 Reload which will definitely help with the development time and cost. which is also why that, unless they are going full throttle for Persona 6, we may see the Persona 4 Remake release way before than we may think. Also, people are more familiar with the modern trilogy, so that's another incentive for Atlus to release the Persona 4 Remake before the remakes of the OG trilogy lol.
Looking back, it seems like 2006 was the year that FF handed over the RPG crown to Persona. FF12 was the last completely awesome experience before the series ran into years of issues. Persona 3 was when Persona really started getting good.
I see you’re a cultured person not only for playing persona, but for that pfp ;)
So strange persona 5 was also my first persona game AND I played it and stopped playing it multiple times like you AND persona 3 reload was the first persona game I finished to its entirety and it’s also my favorite at least based off what I’ve seen of 4 and i played 1 however I still need to finish persona 5
I just really don't want Persona 4 Golden's original voice cast to be replaced. What makes me depressed as hell is that I know most of them will be if it does get remake. They already replaced Chie's voice actor for 4. They're 100% going to do it if 4 ever gets remade.
I live with MDD and the Persona games made a big impact on me as well, and I wouldn't say it's hyperbolic to say they've changed my life. My first game was P4G and that game was just what I needed at the time, and going on to play the other games in the series were similarly impactful. I do recommend giving P4G another shot. It's special in its own way, as all the Persona games are.
While i liked P3 Reloaded a LOT more then I thought I was going to, I think a Persona 1 or 2 remake would be better at this point then a Persona 4 remake (although I REALLY would prefer P6 instead). Despite graphical differences and QoL updates, P3, P4 and P5 are similar but still far different then the playstyles of P1 or P2. While I like the Persona series, I have had trouble going back to P1 and P2. I think updating P1 and P2 to the style of P3-P5 would make the games far more enjoyable and accessible to the general public which I think would be good as P5 seems to be introducing new people to the series and P3 Reloaded seems to be doing a decent job of that as well.
I want a P1 and P2 remake over P4. Thats definitely coming whether we like it or not. Although the bigger question is are Persona 1 and 2 popular enough? Just how many people are genuinely interested? I know i am, but it still feels niche. If they did another survey for which game should get remade next i feel most people would go for Persona 4 since you don't have to build anything from the ground up. Persona 1 and 2 have COMPLETELY different feel and no social links which is a major draw for P3 4 and 5.
I just finished P5R a week ago and then started P4G, and it holds up pretty well. I don't think the gameplay is nearly as fun as P5R, but it seems way better than P3P. Not being a visual novel, skill inheritance, etc just give it so much better quality of life. I hope it gets remade eventually, but I'd rather Atlus makes P6 first.
Persona 3 Reload has managed to spin my entire out look of life. I’m a junior in hs who has lost faith in Christianity and picked up a love for philosophy which helped me answers questions in life which at first seemed to not be answerable without god in the picture, until I kept thinking about the shortness of my life. Persona 3 reload gave me an answer on how I should live my life, made me realize that life isn’t just about our eventual deaths but what happens before then. It’s about the people you are with because you matter to them and all you have to do is venture life and burn your dread.
Yes
I remember a couple of months ago I was going through some grief and wasnt handling it very well due to my already existing depression. In an attempt to distract myself I picked up persona 3 reload because i'd heard it was a good game from a friend (who at this point im pretty sure he knew exactly what i was gonna go through and im incredibly thankful to the man). I remember playing through the game and connecting with the characters, and it did a really good job at distracting me and engrossing me in the story Then i reached october 4th and shinji died, and it really struck me, I genuinely cried at that point in the game and turned the game off for the night afterwards The next day i picked the game back up and genuinely grieved with the characters, akihiko specifically because i felt i could relate to him the most, i think the game genuinely helped me deal with my own grief through the characters helping each other grieve for shinji in game. Then i beat the game a couple days later and it put my own mortality into perspective for me, made me realise just how precious every moment actually is, how short my life actually was, and it actually helped me enjoy my life again By no means am i saying this game cured my depression, but it definitely helped me an immense amount in discovering how to really enjoy my life again and im eternally thankful to this game
After watching your video I've purchased the game even knowing how it ends i know i will still cry this story is about to be personal for me i need something like this right now
I love this!!
@SagaXL wanna know what's crazy... I put 35 hours into it in a week. THIS GAME IS AMAZING! I know I'm not even close to being done with it, but wow, the best purchase of my life so far.
@ The game does have some hang time here and there but push through it! It has such an amazing ending that the slow times don't matter too much! I'm glad you are enjoying it!
@SagaXL oh the filler stuff I'm going to be honest I prefer that over the story I love the character writing it's insane how in depth they go in for side characters I still need to increase my stats to get to the main party social link, but that's what I'm grinding tartarus for so I don't have to worry about going in it for a while and I can fully focus on social activities 😎
Heeeey
Nah I am
I definitely want a Persona 4 remake, but there will always be some aspects I'll be a little anxious over. The voice actors and music are great points like you said, but there's some other stuff too. The one major flaw I'd say I have with Persona 3 Reload is that while it does have a new and interesting water-inspired UI design and colour palette, it completely fails to capture the mid 2000s grunge/emo type of vibe that the original was going for. The most obvious example is probably how much "cleaner" they made the music and how bright the dorm is. They also changed the anxiety-inducing editing style of the intro sequence among other things. P3R is still one of my favourite games ever, but I'm worried that they might let some of Persona 4's original charm slip through their fingers. Persona 3's new style is not bad, just different. Still a masterpiece. That being said though, Persona 4's vibe is definitely more "palatable" than og Persona 3's is, so maybe they'll be more willing to stick closer to that original vision. There's also the stuff with Kanji and Naoto. I love both of those characters and while I won't get into any spoilers, I'm worried that they might change parts of them due to how controversial they are to certain people. I'm gonna hope my gut feeling is right that they wouldn't do that, but we'll see. It's pretty much a done deal that Persona 4 will get a remake, considering how well P3R did. It doesn't need one, but if they go about it the right way they could send P4 into the stratosphere. That game is peak
yeah persona ruined the world
Yes it is next question
LMAOO god this fandom is so corny

"I really do think that the mechanics that the Persona 5 era gave to Persona 3 really helped it grow" Yes...but also no. Granted most of my problems came from the aesthetics of the remake rather than the gameplay itself, but I think the gameplay, while easier, did erase that part of its identity from the original. I was like, sweet I can transfer my skills from Persona 5 to Reload and then later on I was like, why aren't I playing Persona 5 instead of this game? Cause at times it felt like I was playing a better than average Persona 5 Royal mod from Game Banana. And I was advocating for a Persona 3 Remake but when it finally came out it didn't change any views I had from the original, IN FACT it made me praise the original Persona 3 a little more. I really don't think Persona 4 needs a remake at all. Just like you I came in from Persona 5 and then worked my way down to 4 and 3 (I first played 3 FES on PS3 and 4 on PlayStation 2) and had no problem adjusting from 5 to 4. And then when Golden came to PC it was fresher and made it stand out more than its original PS2 version. Golden (while I have my problems with it over the original 4) I feel fits the quota for a remake of 4 and it's not drastically outdated like Persona 3 FES or Portable. And yeah I DO NOT trust Atlus to keep the soundtrack or the voice cast the same. Another thing about Persona 3 Reload is how some of the new renditions of older tracks are pretty bad and I don't want that to happen to any of the tracks from 4.
Beat Persona 3 Reload + Episode Aigis last week. It’s actually given me a lot to think about, whether its my interpersonal relationships or where I am in life. I haven’t really played a game that has made me question so much since I beat Final Fastasy X for the first time in my youth
yes lets regurgitate the same things over and over and over again reliving the glory days until we've totally forgotten what an original idea feels like
They should really go the naughty dog route and remaster/remake the game 4 different times and making it worse with each remake instead of making p6
Depends on the budget of the remake. P3R does a lot I suspect with a relatively little budget, they didn't really change much, even things that could've added to the experience. After Metaphor, P5R, the mono-dungeon showed it's age. In the more recent games the dungeons express more of the stories and themes in addition to adding some variety to the gameplay. I'd love P1 + 2 remakes, especially 2 because I think it is the most important to the overall story/theories.
A remake would be nice, but I'd rather either have a persona 1 and 2 remake, or even better would be persona 6
I would love to see a Persona 4 remake someday. I think it would be nice but i would rather wait a bit, i feel like there are quite a few things in the game that didnt age so well, story and gameplay so the upgrade in graphics and the small changes to it would definitely be nice. I would love to experience 4 in a new coat of paint and a few touch ups. I love ps2 style games so ill love the og regardless of what they would do to persona 4 in the future. Im just excited to see what atlus does in the future when it comes to the persona series
Would like a remake with dungeons being redone but do disagree with the "modernization". I wish the exhaustion system was kept for P3R but fine tuned and thought adding the shift ability (P5 baton passing) as well as theurgy made the game too unbalanced. I do fear future title will just keep stacking new mechanics that make the game easier without making the adjustments for balance. Aside from this subjective disagreement great video.
You played red dead 2? After finishing it I can compare both of them story wise as both peak cinema tbh.
I have not! I have been told many times though to play through it! I will for sure have too!
@ yeah I can’t help but compare them, they both kinda effect whoever plays them to think about life in a different way, at least it did for me
no
I def agree with you because despite SMT heads heralding their series, I really feel that Persona hooks me more because it gets to spend way more time building things up over the course of the game with the calander aspects. At least in terms of 3-5 and their spinoffs, I tried playing P2 and while it holds the same writing quality, the overall gameplay experiences suffers as a whole. I will say that Royal and Reload's new writing flavor have really been a treat and it's the sort of care I want to keep seeing from Atlus and Metaphor was so goddamn good because of their new writing style. While Persona's still in my top 10, I'm waiting for the day this series can really scratch the same itch that the Trails series does for me. I've also started finally playing Final Fantasy 2 years ago and have been loving every entry because of how creative every title is as well as their mechanics. Happy New Year and I can't wait to see what you have in store in the future!
If Atlus does do a remake for P4 in the future, I do agree on the dungeons being changed. They're quite a slog to fight through. I'd prefer if they were more personalized like Palaces (since most of them are designed based off of a person's mindset). It wouldn't make sense if the TV Channel remains as a reskinned Tartarus.
I won’t lie, I was a really annoying self-pitying guy before P3R, I was always so negative and just wanted to stay sad, it then I played persona 3 reload as I was attracted by the music. By the time I had finished the game my attitude towards people and mainly towards life had completely changed; I realized there’s no reason why I acted how I did and i deeply regret the years I spent like that, persona 3 reload and namely Makoto’s (technically mine since I named him after me lol) ending brought me to tears, and I came to the realization that life is a gift, just being alive was worth being joyous and afterwards I very quickly became far more optimistic far more positive and over the last few months I’ve stopped holding pity for myself rather working to improve what I don’t like and propagating what I do. Persona 3 reload was the push I needed to improve myself, to improve my attitude and to truly learn how to appreciate everything in life. What I’m trying to say is persona 3 taught me that life is precious, but it’s also short there isn’t enough time for us to just keep moping and crying over ourselves, and instead we should learn to better ourselves and learn to appreciate everything in our lives whether it be something as small and fleeting as a nice view or something as important as the fact of being alive itself. We are all truly blessed to be alive and I will always treasure persona 3 reload for teaching me that
it's not really a game-y game but witch on the holy night, and fate stay night, are definitely these for me
You need to find social links with people in real life. It’s not healthy for grown men to be so invested in cartoons. Good luck.
I'm so grateful for P3R. I've started playing in a really complicated moment of my life, in which I was facing major issues regarding human connection in general. Just finished P4G now and although to me P3R hits deeper, still carries the message of how precious human contact can be. Now I'm just facing issues to find people that I can really connect with. Not easy but at least I'm not 100% avoiding it as I was when I first played. Baby steps I guess hauhasus
Fellow Persona Fan here. Mitsuru and Makoto best girls? oh yeah my man here knows what's good.
Yes
I also started with p3r! finishing it while being hooked onto ffxiv (I cannot get over endwalker) really destroyed any ounce of nihilism I had hahaha, but personally my favourite is persona 4!! I've always struggled accepting myself and couldn't see the connections I had with friends and family due to doubt and lack of self. But seeing all those characters accept themselves pushed me to do the same, and my uneasy feelings I've had for years disappeared. Suddenly my world was a lot brighter and I'm smiling a lot more. And I can never thank Atlus enough for making such a life changing game.
90% of JRPGs are either in a sci-fi or fantasy setting with worlds and characters that don't tackle real life problems, Persona on the other hand has characters that are 100% human with real human problems just like us, so it's easier to connect with the characters, and the characters that are not human such as Aigis or Morgana or spin off character such as Labrys or Sophia tackle what it is to be human and the meaning of life
You really need to play more jrpgs then
@@joop-from-hedel-shadow blud forgot abt twewy 😭😭🙏
Its already perfect but the messages of the game and the challenge to decipher the complexity within is something the world needs. It is insane how many consistently fail to understand the characters and their story in favor of "I want to see what I think" which is just perfect if you know Persona 4.
I legitimately thought I was the only person that struggled with persona 5. For some strange reason I couldn't get into it as quickly or as easily as persona 3. I would want to get back to persona 5 at some point but I think persona 3 just is my comfort game
