The photo at 32:23 was pretty sad. Nothing lasts forever.
Great film footage! I'd guess most of this was taken with 8mm film cameras of the day. Those things were strictly mechanical and pretty bulky. Not the easiest things to handle on a bike, even for a passenger. (No auto-stabilization back then! 😆) But because these riders took the time and effort, we can watch them today. Marvelous.
@@m.f.m.67 Mom holding that camera looking over dad’s shoulder for the most part, the opening sequence at the lake is all her. Thanks for watching, appreciate the feedback.
Thanks so much You should be very proud of yourself. Great job on the commentary and the music !!!. I was born in 1956 the year of Elvis and the Interstate hyw syst. In SoCal. I was surprised there were not more Indians also did not think that I would see so many BMWs and One Yamaha. Hard to believe that Harley went 10sec in the 1/4 thats fast. I like the line that you used." The more you know the faster you go" It was also cool to see the 841 Indian. Nice job thanks so much.
This is so cool my dad n mom rode about the same time in Illinois n mo on Harleys n bsa dad was a contender. At drags marathons n endures dad died in 2000 mom 2004
@@WilliamMiller-v5c cheers to our folks the trailblazers, happy new year. Please share a pic if you can.
This was better than watching the Browns attempt to play football.
@@jimfeldhouse4038 hilarious, and it’s mislabeled to boot, just a clip I was sharing for identification purposes. It’s this place in ‘56 www.petersenrockgarden.org
I'm a Dolphins fan ironically~
???
@@matthewmatt5285 these are test clips I’m sharing to a few people for identification purposes… www.petersenrockgarden.org
I just can't figure out where this first part is. There are flowers etc but it might not even be in Oregon. The wikipedia article on Jantzen Beach is really good and glad that they saved the carousel. My mom told me that she rode that crazy roller coaster many times back in the day.
That is Peterson's Rock Garden around Redmond area. I remember going there a few times. There were quite a few peacocks that roamed the grounds there and you would hope to see one of them spread its tail to see that huge fan. Too bad it had to close. The Wikipedia article on it is quite interesting and worth reading.
It is Jantzen Beach Amusement Park because of that huge roller coaster that was made out of wood. It was a famous one for a long time.
Nobody in my family were truck drivers or ever had a motorcycle. I was and had both. Still riding my motorcycle at 72.
The best films . Thanks
Great finished product Jamie, proud to have been in your dad's garage more than once back in the day. You should also consider a possible side gig as a radio DJ.
great old footage
I just shared this a couple days ago…your comments touch my heart, like I said, I’m proud to be part of the biker family. Please keep sharing your stories.
No yuppies back then real men and women
I’m not a computer person. My grandson just showed me your movie. I’m in my 70s now and your movies made my heart sink. One spot was when you said somebody wanted to buy your dad’s drag bike for the frame. It shows you the progression of thought. The other was The crawler in front of your dad’s demolished building … just made my heart sink… I still have my 55 pan that I built from scratch in 1970… Bad back too many broken Old bones to start it, but I still have it… your dad and I would have gotten along fine… I might have even bought parts off him… just can’t recall… I hope that same feeling is in you. I
Steve, I absolutely share your feelings, I’m really glad that came across in the film. I tried really hard to make this upbeat, it was hard to maintain. Yes, those two moments are heartbreaking. But all the other things of seeing my folks live their dreams and the example they set for me is priceless. Thanks so much for connecting.
@ always remember, the positive times, and it seems your folks had plenty. I’m just an old Fart but your film had me reminiscing but I still can’t get over the fact, it’s somebody wanted to take a piece of history, the drag bike, apart to build Something else. I think about things like that often. That’s why I just can’t bring myself to sell my pan head.
I took those two shots the day it sold…even at 14 it made me shudder when he said that. Right this minute I don’t like imagining how Dad felt… That Buco purse of my Moms is priceless to me. That one piece of letterhead from the shop was in a box of toys, I think we kept score of some game on the back of it. Was a really lucky find. Don’t ever sell that panhead. Get your grandson to post a picture of it on here.
my parents were in a motorcycle club the nite hawk riders in the 50s dad was a stae champ hillcimber also rode flatfrack with a cast on he would have been 92 yesterday my mom 90 she died tuesday thanks for sharing grand rapids mi

I wear a helmet in a non mandatory state ... Pennsylvania and alot of others

And they say the good ol' days werent always so good, things are better today--what BS!
Super cool film. Thank you. I bought my first Harley in 1971 and still have it and a few more including Ol John Martinolichs hill climbers.
This is great Jamie. My parents were bikers too as they are in this great video that you have put together. Glad you made connections with Denny and I on putting some of this together. Thanks again. My dad's bike belongs to his son now and is a cherished part of history for him.
Nice job Jamie! I told your Dad I wanted to buy the Drag Bike, hey laughed and said Bobby you would not know what to do with that thing! Your parents were Awesome!
Woowww! I miss these days!
Do you have anymore videos of my grandfather?
@@TheChurchofAdamandEve oh man, sorry, I don’t. It was a fluke that I found this, so glad I filmed him that day, it wasn’t my habit to film many clients, we hit it off immediately and he could sing really good. If I do happen to find another clip I’ll post it in this comment thread. Nice to meet you-Jamie
Nice mix. Tight!
Thanks, good old 8 track days! Was great meeting and fun talking, love the small world.
Nice! We both miss the golden 80s. Check us out too... Thanks. Cheers!
you should have panned left at the funeral home... you missed Dick's man!
Thanks for sharing. I would have been 3 years old, and living right by Sicks’ Stadium and the Macdonald's on Rainier Ave. You guys probably drove passed my old house. There use to be a Remo Borrachinnis backery in that area, that we would go to, to get donuts.
@@JDBACKUP-nx1sg The go to place for wedding cakes for decades, I too loved going in and grabbing a variety of goodies, great memories, sad ending. Glad you liked watching, it’s a great look back.
I like it !
Wow. That might be where I actually saw "Terms of Endearment" the first time.
Speaking of that. "Fukn'a-man" is a term not often heard anymore.
Ahhhhhhh.... Bob Dylan ! 😍😍
Ah, this just showed up on my feed. This is incredibly unnerving to watch for me. Good!
Are you a family member?Sorry for any confusion, this is my family in the ‘50s. Was sharing for my cousins.
Seattle population has never been over 800,000. He must have meant king county.
Fantastic!!
Back when you could rent a studio apartment on Queen Anne for $150/month.
Before Seattle died
😭

Thank you, thank you, thank you Jamie!! 🙏🏻❤️
Nice song ! :)
Thanks Jamie !
"Terms of Endearment" was released on November 23, 1983, so this is definitely late 1983.
Was cool to actually get a quick glance at Ernie Steele's restaurant and Keeg's furniture.
I'm in the same age bracket as these guys; I'm viewing this through my own experience with those roads, and I know exactly where they're driving! Amazing archival video!
As for me, a much better era of America.
This is fun!
This is wild. When this was filmed, I was living in Seattle - came in 1976 and left in 1985 (the good old days of Seattle - and for me...). At this time I lived on 16th E and I drove a bookmobile for the Seattle Public Library Mobile branch, located off of Broadway behind Fred Meyers. I covered the entire city every month and probably took the route you do here many times. Someone commented on Ernie Steele's - my cronies from the library and I would go there for lunch on occasion for a soul burger - one of the best burgers I ever had. In fact, Broadway had some places to go for lunch that have never been surpassed to me for what they provided - the best omelet (Bernie's Best) at Bernie's Tavern, and the best nachos at La Cocina as well as the best hot and sour soup at a Chinese restaurant both on the row of stores across from Fred Meyer's. A special place that I still visit when I return to visit friends. Most of the restaurants are gone although I'm amazed that La Cocina still seems to be there! So sad what Seattle has become...
The book mobile✊ To think there are people who have no idea that ever existed. I live here now and want to bail, just don't know where to.
Seattle hasn't become anything lol lay off the conservative news there's less crime here than the late 80's during the crack epidemic and spread of LA based gangs
