It seems like we both have the problem of buying more books than we can read. I certainly need to buy bigger shelves because I’m out of space. I like that you wrote the titles on the spines of my books that don’t have text. In reference to The Ecstasy and the Ignominy, I pronounce Ignominy the way that most narrators pronounce it. Some people will place more emphasis on the o sound, which is what you’re doing, but I prefer not to. I pronounce it using more of a u sound, which is more pleasant to the ear. Words aren’t always pronounced the way they are spelled. I meant for Desmond’s cursing to be shocking. It reflects how morally bankrupt his character is. He’s definitely the most modern-sounding character in the book, although he curses less as the book continues. Please don’t think I’m trying to argue. I just had some thoughts on what you said in reference to me. The fact that you own all of my books is quite touching. It’s nice to see them all on someone else’s shelf.
Thank you. I typically pronounce things as I read them, which explains the disparity on our pronunciations of 'ignominy'. I understand the intwnt of Desmond. It just seems to be a problem with me finding characters swearing in period narratives slightly jarring. Glad you enjoyed the tour. I typically write the title and author on books that are print on demand and don't bear that distinction already. Helps for archiving and such. As of now, I have no desire to buy anymore books. I have basically everything I want, plus the big move coming up limits the amount I can physically have. But this is a good assortment. From 2014-24 it took me to grow, and it looks very nice, doesn't it?
@@milesknightestrada3286 It certainly does. When are you moving back to New Zealand? I’ll be sorry to see you leave American soil. You might not be able to purchase physical copies of any of my future books. I’m unsure if print on demand ships internationally. I think it does, but it’s way more expensive. It seems like all the best people that I know are either from Australia or New Zealand. Don’t ask me why. There’s an Australian female author who I communicate with on TikTok that I hold a great amount of affection for. Just the other day, I received an encouraging comment from another Australian. Americans seem to suck in comparison. I’m generalizing, of course.
@batman5224 It all depends on when things fall into place. It's a whole process that is very long and difficult. But hopefully, November or December. I'm not sure. I think N.Z. has since acquired Amazon through Australia, so no worries there.
@@milesknightestrada3286 I’m planning on buying your book as soon as I can. I just have to wait until I have enough money to purchase an order, which may be after Christmas.
@@batman5224 I appreciate it. Though let me say this - it's not very good. I wrote it at 17.
Miles hope you're doing okay!!
Thanks for checking on me, Goontick. I'm doing very well. Just been busy with real life stuff, and haven't had a chance or incentive to return to TH-cam yet. I do have some plans for videos, which should be out very soon, so look forward to those.
Thanks for the mention - and you're right about the reason for the long break! The online teaching thing really hit hard... Fortunately, that seems to have abated somewhat now :)
The Enchantress of Florence is well worth a read, though. And I loved Grimus from the first page - though the next person I gave it to sent it hurtling back in my direction shortly afterwards...
Nice! My very first copy was Jurassic Park and Lost World. But I look to add more classics in my collection.
Hopefully you still have these penguins 🐧
Who’s the lady handling the books? ✋
Congratulations! I’m sorry I didn’t comment sooner, but I didn’t see the notification. The story sounds somewhat similar to Of Human Bondage. Why did you decide to use a pseudonym? Also, whose photo is on the book? I’ve placed the book in my Amazon cart. Whenever I can order again, I will purchase it, although it might not be until after Christmas. The Ecstasy and the Ignominy is fully completed, but I’m still waiting on my father to finish the cover. We’ve been somewhat delayed because of Covid. Hopefully, it will be out in August or September.
Every reason you can think of. But primarily because it doesn't represent my current self.
Also, the picture is of an uncle.
@@milesknightestrada3286 I see. I used to go by the name JL Reaper. I’m still known as that on Booksie. By the way, is there a reason you haven’t been posting as much lately?
@batman5224 Been very busy these past few months, and will continue to be. I'm also trying to focus more on writing and reading.

Terrific! But I must forewarn you: it's not very good.
congrats for publishing it! :) good luck for the sales!!
Thank you, Michael. Now, I can rest and focus on my other projects.
My Seawolf Press books arrived from Amazon in a soaked thin paper package with nothing in between. The Books were wet and warped before they even reached the door...
That's unfortunate. Have you tried returning or replacing them?
Hello Miles been a while hope you have been doing good lately. Happy summer just started up here. Might post a bit tomorrow but will be graduating tomorrow officially
I like Canterbury classics leatherboud edtion of Poe (aside from the fact the Raven on it is sticker).
Welllll, give it up to TH-cam for never letting me know about this one. THANKS, TH-cam (read: sarcasm). P.S. can't live in a world where Miles is not on TH-cam...just saying.
I know. Don't worry. I will be back this weekend with an update on the book, Lord willing.
Miles Knight! Calling Miles Knight!!! Wherefore art thou Miles???
Right here! There will be an update on the book come this weekend. Stay tuned.
When do you think your book will be published? Unless it’s published in the next two or three days, I don’t think I can wait any longer to include it in my Amazon order. I’ve been holding off hoping that you would publish it. Of course, I’m not trying to rush you. You should only publish when you feel ready. If I don’t include it, I’ll be sure to whenever I can order from Amazon again, which may not be until Christmas, unfortunately.
I will address this issue on Friday. Thank you.
I believe they are the Sirens.
cool i too have the shout factory dvd collection set but its not a truly complete collection for some reason its missing the rare original un-aired pilot you can only get it on the old alf lions gate season 1 set on disc 4
I keep re-reading the Sherlock Holmes stories in one form or another. Time to commit to that lovely edition you presented here!
I have a plethora of thoughts here. The earlier episodes of SpongeBob were better. One episode that stands out in my mind is when Bubble Bass accuses SpongeBob of forgetting to put the pickles on his sandwich, but it is then revealed that he was hiding the pickles under his tongue, along with a woman’s car keys. My grandfather laughed so hard at that joke, which is why I remember it. You kind of have to take shows like SpongeBob for what they are. They’re not high art. They’re meant to provide escapism. In terms of child shows, I always preferred Hey Arnold myself. It was a little more mature and taught moral lessons. We all have our guilty pleasures. I like the Austin Powers movies, even though they’re stupid. One can be stupid in a clever way and stupid in an insulting way. That’s the difference. I personally didn’t read a lot as a child, but discovered my love for literature in high school. With maturity, comes wisdom, although some people never grow out of a juvenile phase. When it comes to Shaw, I personally have mixed feelings about the man. He was certainly very witty, but he was also a eugenicist who advocated for genocide. You should watch many of the videos of him that are online. In many ways, he was a very wicked and evil man, but he often tried to avoid criticism by telling jokes. I based the villain in The Ecstasy and the Ignominy on Shaw. In the story, he’s called Bertrand Shaw. He’s a combination of George Bernard Shaw and Bertrand Russel. His dialogue is often based on direct quotes from Shaw. The only difference is my character has more of a conscience. George had none. He was all wit with no feeling. The egalitarian views he expressed in plays like Pygmalion were often undermined by his own eugenicist philosophy. He was, in many ways, a massive hypocrite, but he was still an eloquent writer and speaker. I’ve always wanted to write a play, but I don’t know what I would do with it. Who would produce it? I don’t like artistic mediums where I don’t have complete control, although I may attempt it one day. I hope your book comes out soon.
Thank you for your thoughts, Joseph. I agree that such forms of media do not generally rank alongside the highest art: my biggest guilty pleasure is the comedian Larry The Cable Guy. But some are more attuned to teach morals to young minds, which is always good. Regarding Shaw, I am aware he is a vexing character. He is without question a great writer. But when it comes to his 'evil' beliefs, I am somewhat sceptical. From what I have read and seen, it was something of an act, his mission to shock people, which occasions the utterance of some quite incendiary remarks. While he seemed to praise dictators before the Second World War, his sentiments were observed to change upon a bomb from the blitz being flung into his window. I do not claim to be defending the man, as I am so new to him - his rival, G.K. Chesterton, seems more savoury a human being. But I suppose he is a prime example of separating the art from the artist. My book Why Am I For Ever Unloved? should be out next week. All the necessary edits and formatting issues have been sorted. Just need to press 'Publish'.
@@milesknightestrada3286 I don’t want to argue, but I’ve read quite a lot about Shaw. Shaw liked to make people think he wasn’t being serious by being somewhat flamboyant in his remarks. That’s often how he avoided criticism, but he uttered similar statements in private and in letters. He appealed to chemists to find a gas that would be lethal but painless to exterminate undesirables. He initially defended Hitler. He only turned on Hitler when he found out he was executing people based on race, not class. Shaw wanted to overthrow capitalism, but believed certain people were unfit to live in the new order. Admittedly, Shaw was a coward at heart. He probably wouldn’t have been able to go through with his plans had he been capable. That’s why I decided to satirize him in my book. There’s so much material to work with. One can be fascinated and repulsed by Shaw at the same. I also prefer G. K. Chesterton.
@@batman5224 In either case, I look forward to seeing how you parody him in your coming book.
@@milesknightestrada3286 It’s going to be great! I don’t want to give too much away, but let’s just say he says certain things that I wish Shaw would have said.
@@batman5224 Wonderful!
Probably a weird comment but you have an awesome voice and you’re very well spoken. Keep up the videos👍
Much appreciated.
Totally agree! Your voice is well suited to commentary and perhaps narration. Just found your channel (well the algorithm sent me here) look forward to trawling through your video backlist. ✌️
I'm gonna listen to this tomorrow whilst doing my morning routine but, in the meantime, I'll tell you that i saw the theatrical cut and thoroughly enjoyed it. Have yet to see this cut, so i can't wait to hear what you think of it. Further thoughts tomorrow.
Glad to see you are a fellow Dominionite. I eagerly await your response tomorrow. My apologies for the length; I have a tendency to go off into tangents.
Hello, I am a PW collector for more than 30 years.I can tell you that there isn't such a thing as a standard glass size. So if you want a fitting crystal, you need a specialist who fits in the properly shaped glass (there are different forms, like domed, lentille, straight, angeled...) in the proper size (we are talking of 1/100 mm tolerances). TEven if you measure your lunette with a micrometric gauge, it will not fit properly. You need to have the case front present to fit it in.
Hell yeah
It will be out next week, Lord willing.
We were wondering where our boy Miles was at. As predicted, still working on the revisions...and rolling down hills.
It's not so much revisions as it is formatting. I'll put out a video here soon about the issue. It will be out soon, though. I promise.
Good thing unlike my last video no eggs were harmed in the production of this video
No. Only eggheads.
Wherever you are, it looks beautiful!
Dana Point, CA.
When do you expect to have it out? I know I said I was going to include the book in my Amazon order, but I thought you were on the verge of publishing it. I’m going to make the order pretty soon. If I don’t include your book in the order, I promise it will be the first thing I purchase whenever I have the ability to order online again. I currently don’t have a credit card. I use a debit, which can be risky to use online. I mainly buy through Amazon with gift cards. I purchase proof copies of my books on my sister’s card, but I don’t dare use it for anything else. I don’t want you to think I’m going back on a promise. I hate it when people do that, but if I don’t purchase it right away, you know why.
Hopefully in the next week. I have done so much to it in terms of formatting already, and any further modifications played havoc with it. I was able to include page numbers. A video will be out soon regarding this issue before you buy. I am sorry for the inconvenience. It's my first, and probably my last, time doing this.
@@milesknightestrada3286 I can wait another week. I’m mainly purchasing books and movies, but I haven’t been able to read or watch anything because my new puppy has been a handful. By the way, it’s best to save your book file as a PDF. If you do not, the format will change every time you make corrections to it. I didn’t figure that out until I did Silent Reckoning.
@@batman5224I did that. It's just some other, more technical issues I can't get around which have delayed publication. Soon, though.
Any updates??
You made a few good points about the book which resonated with me, but wish you had avoided that rambling and cavalier demeanor during the review. And for starters, you could have adjusted the camera straight unless you deliberately wanted to avoid showing your face. Hope my candor does make your next review better
When is your book going to be available?
Hopefully by the middle of the month.
Seawolf Press also carries London’s “The Iron Heel”, a forgotten dystopian classic in the vein of Orwell. You should check it out. And I agree completely that Seawolf makes beautiful editions. I’ve got “A Princess of Mars” by Edgar Rice Burroughs, a really gorgeous book
I have several of London's books in Seawolf editions, and plan to get many more. Should probably look into the Burroughs, as A Princess of Mars is near impossible to find in bookshops.
“Miles Knight!”
I love these! I want all of them!
Well you're quite lucky because I have subscribed to your channel today! I've been looking to collect pocket watches but I don't know where to start. I used to purchase quartz movement ones from my local Walmart a few years ago but they contninuously quit working after only a few weeks which is disappointing to me but I will keep trying to find one to start my journey with this hobby thanks to your video
Hi Miles, I’m an author working on a my third manuscript right now. I just found your channel. Are you traditionally published or self published ?
In the next week or so, I will be self-published. It is my goal one day to be traditionally published.
@@milesknightestrada3286 How many manuscripts have you written? I find the most helpful TH-cam for writing has been Ellen Brook.
@Justpassingby204 Countless manuscripts, though this is the only one that is finished and ready for publication. Have not heard of Miss Brook, but will check her out at some point.
@@milesknightestrada3286 countless manuscripts? I respect the hustle
@@Justpassingby204 Thank you. Keep in mind that I've been at it for about ten years.
Looks fantastic mate !! Greetings from Australia. I can’t wait to buy myself a copy.
Cheers! Should be out this week!
I am relatively new to your channel and I must say it has been inspiring watching and listening to your ideas. It is refreshing to come across a hard working writer with such a refined taste. Not many writers in your generation-that I have come across, at least-take on such responsibilities. I can see you are very well read and don’t let yourself off the hook in your pursuit of greatness. All I can say is I am already a fan and from the few excerpts I have heard of your work I am sure I will enjoy your book.
@@lasmluclasm3781 I appreciate that. Just keep in mind that this particular volume was penned over seven years ago by a teenager, and so may not reflect the present state of my work. Hope you enjoy it otherwise.
@@milesknightestrada3286 that’s fine mate I am more than happy to show support either way !! Besides I’m sure it is better than the stuff I was writing in my early twenties let alone as a teenager.
@@lasmluclasm3781Thanks again.
the new cover looks somehow more "vivid", good choice!
Thanks. The separation between the text doesn't look too weird to you?
@@milesknightestrada3286no, it looks like a normal title - you find many books in the german part of the world using exactly these separations. cover looking perfect, tbh!
@michaelkeller5008 Thanks. Still thinking about it, though. We'll see when the time comes.
The time is nigh...
Should be out sometime next week. Just have to read it a final time, and potentially do one more thing with the cover, and we're as good as gold.
For the love of God, clip your nails.
Amen!
Wonder whatever happened to Milkmerz
I hope you cleaned up that streamer looking stuff up off the floor in the four years since this video has been here, lol. Nice watches too by the way.
What is with the long fingernails that any woman would be envious of? Are you an intact male?
Well, you can't judge a book by its cover, but I suspect the answer within the novel is in the title itself. Perhaps you should write a sequel to this book titled "Why I want to be unloved" or "Please stop loving me so much." I think you will find that the eternal lack of love is more beautiful than love itself, and besides, hatred is a much stronger and more meaningful emotion. Nobody gets out of bed and goes to work in the morning out of love. They do it out of hatred and to spite their Creator.
Funnily enough, the story to this particular book, based on true events, isn't finished. So much more has gone on that is far and away more tumultuous and would make for compelling material - legality even got involved at one stage. It's just that the notebook I was working in was only so big, and I ran out of pages. I am, in a small way, detailing those events in my current project, albeit through the eyes of a different character and amounting to a greater purpose. Part of me also doesn't wish to venture back into this particular avenue of my life. It was one in which I dealt with a great amount of stress and near madness, and I have moved on to bugger and better things. As for the title's meaning...you'll have to read the book to find out. But I can assure you that it doesn't mean what you think it might.
One thing that you’ve figured out that I haven’t been able to figure out is how to change the color of the spine. I haven’t been able to make it anything other than black. Of course, I’m planning on making the spine of my new book black, but I would like the option of changing it depending on what the cover looks like. My father designs the cover, but I still do the spine and back. I’m not very good with technology. I’m trying to complete a rough edit of my book before Saturday, after which I will be busy spending time with my new puppy. Of course, I’m worried about getting sick because my sister has covid. That would throw a wrench in all of my plans.
Now that is one area where I can of service. On the KDP cover creator, it gives you the option to select colours once you have chosen a design. Just click the icon that looks like a paintbrush, and you should be able to have any colour you wish. Good luck ro you.
@@milesknightestrada3286 I hope that works should I require it. I usually have to deal with some kind of technical issue every time I make a new cover.
@@batman5224 On the subject of covers, do you think the replacement font is not too dissimilar from the original, and should I amend the author name to include 'Knight', or leave it as it is?
@@milesknightestrada3286I personally don’t notice a difference. I honestly think you should include Knight. It has a nice ring to it, but it’s not that big of a deal if you don’t.
@@batman5224 I thought about it for days on end, but considering this was written when I was a teenager, and I didn't accept the 'Knight' moniker until I was 21, I have no idea at this stage. I guess we'll see when it's put to print.
As for the questionmark: why not leaving the image as is and DRAW a questionmark? You know, like a "shadow in the background" or something? (edit2: eg as a "litte road" the ladybugs are walking on, or something) (also - for the next book: send the "definitive draft" out to people you trust for a preliminary edit; reduces the work, may lead to valuable inputs before you send the "version 1.0" out) My opinion for the authors name: you said in the other video that this is a novel you've written when you were not using your full name; to honor your own work, i'd suggest leaving the author-name as is, and use the difference later via "personal development" or something... BUT: it is YOUR book, Miles, and you are the one who has to decide what to do with it. Bc once printed, it will be what it is, and you have to be able to live with it, without constant anger for the "what/why did i not change xyz" aso... (edit: and why is it taking YT more than 40sec to finally show the comment? i never know if the comment was accepted by AI or not (happening on all channels))
I'm not so skilled when it comes to photography editing, so I may just end up typing up the font from scratch with added question mark instead of trying to draw one in myself. My purpose for this edit was to preserve the original voice of the work, whilst making it understandable to the actual reader, and so more intense scrutiny was required. I may consider shipping out my next book to others to speed up the editing process, but what more could they do if you edit as you go, and most of what is written, save the stray word, is as close to finished as one is likely to get? Thanks for your thoughts, Michael. Hoping to have this out by next week. Will keep you posted.
Also, I feel that the final pass of anything should be overseen by the writer, as it is his work, and he knows it more than anyone else.
@@milesknightestrada3286 i ment send the word/libre/openoffice (whichever you use for writing the book)-file out first before sending one to print... as for the picture long time i did, not sure i could do it today... but as said: it is your book and you have to live with it, so: only do what YOU want to do with it :)
@@michaelkeller5008Will do.
