thank you very much, it was very useful. but what i dont like about the corridor way of working is that it couldnt take the whole ramp width because it was not in 90 degress to it so didnt have all the ramp moduled.

I cant seem to use point clouds like this in Civil but it would great. The program just freezes up while rotating the cloud. How do you keep yours running so smooth? Our computer has plenty of power.

    • @starlordjameslord49

You can select points in Recap --> create "Region" --> name the region --> Save. The regions you create in Recap you can turn off and on in AutoCAD. The more points you turn off the better AutoCAD will perform. You could also just divide the cloud into chunks. Here is a image that might help communicate what I am talking about: www.dropbox.com/s/rq67z9m7vacr926/Recap_Regions.png?dl=0

Does your corridor say it is out of date constantly once this feature line is targeted? Mine appears to be building correctly but says it is out of date as the featureline updates after the surface is built then is targeted again which is triggering it to say it is out of date.

What about the extensions of the sag curve? The curve end points did not get trimmed from the tangent lines, thus, they are hanging out in space?

Mid ordinate distance is not the distance between two points. It's the distance from the center of the arc to the center of the chord.

Yes, but feature lines with curves and multiple elevation points get reduced to the first elevation point along the curve, ignoring the rest of the points along the curve. Do you know of a work around?

It depends on where you live and what your goals are. If Civil 3D is your primary focus then try Googling "civil 3d training 'your city name'". Their are lots of books on Amazon, the Autodesk website can also direct you to training. Scroll to the bottom of any page and click on "Training and Resources", on the left side of the page click on "Authorized Training Centers", again on the left side click on "Locate an ATC", then use the either the within the USA or outside the USA search tools.

You need to have the bridge extension in Revit, it came out in 2011 as a Bonus Extension and I believe it is now included inside Revit Structure 2014. I will send you a link to download instruction on this.

Great video, James. We have had the same realizations in implementing Civil 3D for sitework ourselves. I agree, I look forward to and think Civil 3D will slowly start to become more parametric, at least some elements can be simplified, but there is still a big difference with the needs and constraints of site vs. building worlds (we can't do our work in a factory!). But for now the critical collaboration breakthrough is in shared coordinates. Getting that through to people is the challenge....
