I Made so many friends during the practice session for this, and playing in this concert was the best band experience of my life! I can never forget the chills I got while playing, the incredible feeling of being in the chapel, and how this performance inspired me to work harder and harder to become a great trumpet player. I am now in 8th grade and I hope I can be a part of this wonderful life changing experience again! Thank you OWU for providing this band performance!!!

These pieces were performed in March of 2014, basically right after the annexation of Crimea. I will admit I wasn't super aware of what was going on--I was preparing for this, I think I had a term paper going on, and I wasn't regularly watching the news at the time. Still, I remember that when the conductor said that they would be including "The Great Gate of Kiev" from Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky as a tribute to Ukraine, I teared up a bit. Yesterday from when I am writing this comment, Ukraine was invaded by Russia in a stunning and intolerable act of war. I just want to say that we remember, and this time, I'm watching and hoping that The Ode To Joy will apply once this is all over.

Thanks,I found this lecture very interesting and enjoyable.It encompasses two Subjects that have a great interest to myself. WW2 History and Propaganda.Id like to mention I'm not American but English,so the previous knowledge about Axis Sally is from You tube and what's been available on the Internet.Prior to watching this lecture I believed she was purely an Actress reading a Script,trapped in Germany through Love and latterly no Passport.Having the advantage of the Script on screen as she spoke being able to fully understand what was Spoken has changed my opinion ,there's little chance she didn't have a degree of input,For example using Americanisms like "Gee" and constant use of the Phrase "The Boys"Phrases that would of been used typically by a native American.Also the anti British rhetoric which would have come from her Irish background.The subject of receiving her degree,which was explained She worked for.and not an honoury one.So why people were annoyed I can only assume Propaganda comes in to play ,The Media purporting it was an Honoury?Thanks again ,an excellent lecture.
