Not really. You need at least two players for it to work as intended, one to be a slayer and the other as narrator/game master. If you're looking for a solo roleplaying game, I suggest you check out Ironsworn.

That's a good question! I have only played through the game's introduction, having not received the entire game from the publisher, so this isn't a proper review. However, this is not a "legacy" game, in that nothing is physically changed apart from what you write on the character sheet, and there will be multiple such sheets in the box, so you could certainly bring out a new sheet and play the whole thing over from the beginning. I have been told by the designer that there is, in fact, multiple solutions to many of the puzzles and other challenges, so it may be fun to play through multiple times and explore different options. Even in the process of recording this video, I found myself trying things I hadn't thought to try on my earlier playthroughs, so I think there will be some replay value in trying different approaches. Aside from that, it is expected to take 30+ hours over multiple sessions to play through the entire story, so I think there is a lot of value there.

Excellent question! You are correct that he could have moved along the arrow. There is no rule prohibiting that. Doing so, he could have moved farther away from his starting position, such as into the bottom-right corner of the map. However, those spaces would have actually been closer to the raptors in terms of movement-spaces-away than the space where I actually moved him to (4 spaces away from the raptor on the left vs 5 spaces away where I moved him). And his goal isn't to move the greatest distance possible but to end up as far away as possible from the player's fighters.

Yeah, that's a weird ruling. I would start the hunters on K25 in that case. Or, maybe start them on L24, but place a starting barrier on L10-M10. I haven't played on this map with 4 players myself, so I can't say which solution might work best.

I don't think so, personally. The solo mode is OK, and it is nice that they provided it for free. However, the game is really much better with other players, and there are many better games for solo play.

@@niceatdice Many FPS you mean? The only that get close was gears of war and fireteam.zero but both has too luck involved

@@henriqueribeiro4954 I just meant better games in general for solo play. If you're looking specifically for a solo game with that FPS theme then this might be the one. I haven't played any other FPS-style board games to be able to compare.

Yeah, I would definitely be onboard with that. Hopefully going forward they will do that with any new expansions they might release. I think the fact they included a conclave card for the cards in this mini-expansion is a good sign that they recognize that fans want that.

@@niceatdice I just downloaded all the conclave cards and it seems with the newer expansions (twilight, harmony, nemesis) the conclaves don't include anything but itself. So, thats interesting.

@@sincitysir1 I noticed that, too. It's a little less interesting than earlier conclaves, but I guess they're trying to make it more friendly towards people who might not choose to/be able to buy all of the expansions.

And the conclave cards included here have the SAME size of the advancements/valleys, can't be used as dividers... genius!

Thanks! I agree with you on Cryptek Override. It's really messed me up a couple of times. Doesn't bother me too much, because at least it's the first level of the campaign, so it doesn't set you back too far if you have to start over after a loss. But, I really like you're suggestion of making sure it stays in the top half of the deck. I think that would be a simple and effective way of balancing that card better.

Thanks for watching! You make some good points. I do think there should be a great game that fills the niche you describe. I suppose Adventure Begins does fill this niche, but I still don't think it's a great game. It had the potential to be, but it falls short for me. Also, I have to take into account what the game is marketed to be. Their marketing didn't spell out the niche you described above as the purpose of this game, it described it as an introduction to D&D. And, for all the reasons I mentioned in my review, I don't think it's the game I would want for myself or others as an introduction to D&D. All of this is only my opinions, though, of course. If you and others enjoy the game, then good for you!

It's great! The Mercy path is often underestimated by new players, but it can be just as effective as Cruelty. Lots of replayability in this one. If you haven't heard, there's supposed to be a new expansion on Kickstarter in May.

Yes! Although, I've found that they work pretty well with my overhead camera in video conferencing games. Granted, not everyone has that kind of setup. And some will prefer VTT anyway.
