Rod's Locost 5.0 - Cold Start MSII w/IAC
Cold start, about 40F. Its getting there, but still a lot of tuning to do. Need to turn down the idle air control a notch. Its using a Jeep IAC stepper motor mounted below the fuel regulator.

Huge tree being cut down, those are giant sequoias next to it. Incredibly loud in real life! If you look at the base of the tree you can see little dots, the lumberjacks running away. Sounds better with headphones!

Drive from Visalia to Giant Forest in Sequoia National Park, central California. Lotus 7 Replica or Locost, built from scratch, 350Hp 302,T5, 1600lbs.
Was this a Haynes style chassis or what plans did you work off of?
Like that sway bar orientation. ... just did an interview with Gary Sanders (CXS Designs). ... they have upped the ante by also adding continuous camber adjustment.
what tires are you running?
What kind of engine installed
What engine v8
I have the Procomp EFI eight stack with individual throttle bodies. just about to put the engine in and need to know if you've heard of a good ECM
Hey..how do you like the Megasquirt system for ECM? i've got to buy something for engine management but they are all sooooo expensive
Are you from Visalia ca I just got into locost 7's and it would be cool to meet someone local who built one
That's sad, that tree has probably been there for centuries
Hey Rod, did you ever finish your wonderful Seven? I would love to see the finished product , maybe some action vid as well :-)
I was their!
it's a dead pine not a sequoia tree (sugar pine) I was there
Nice... Checkout my tiger supercat 0-60 3.5 sec
The steering looks very heavy?
What steering rack did you go with?
I'll fix this for you "fuck knowing about cars. when's american idol on?"
very nice sound!!
If you pay attention there is a fuel rail present, meaning its fuel injected. The individual air filters and throttle bodies are most likely to give the appearance of carbs. just so you know.
I’ intend on setting, my carbs set up with fuel rails . It’s Been done before
Any detailed photos or videos on how you placed the injectors? I assume you placed them in the manifold below the carb mounting points? Also, just curious why you chose to mount outside instead of inside. I am looking to do the same thing with 48 IDAs. Any tips you can give would be great.
I'm workin on a twin turbo 400 SBC powered locost at the moment, oughta make right around 800hp conservatively...i wanted to build somethin scary ;)
@b4stealth00 Probably a Tremec-T5
@regularflavor It's got very low profile tyres for a Locost too so my guess is it's more than a little bit twitchy when it lets go.
This is a wonderful machine. Great job on the build!
IS IT A SMOOTH RIDE WITH THAT SUSPENSION?!
how does that thing handle with a "heavy " v8 in it?
why is it that beards are synonymous with kit cars?
That is what death looks like ! :D :D :D
@reddryer hopefully this isnt a stupid question but is it an aluminum block to help achieve that?
How much did this cost? And how much would it cost for a really simple, basic, like 100hp one?
iv always wanted to know how pushrods worked
what a beast !!! mine only has a 1600 pinto with twin webbers and that goes like stink, cant begin to imagine what this is like :o nice one man !
ITS MAD BUT LOVE IT
Nice Nitto NT05s
I love the Lady at the Booth!!! Is it Legal!!!! LMAO!!!
That's too crazy.. Too much muscle too little car.. Not for me.....
Nice Beard! Sounds beastly.
There's an idea that would be both nuts and fun at the same time; Lotus-7-type roadster with a 5 litre V8. Either an all-time burnout champion, a ball-tearer of a drag car, or a real handful as a track car
The only thing I would do differently would be an I6, but that's just preference. AMAZING build.
Was that belt squeal or something else?
@PaulGreenleaf F1 cars are weighing 1200lbs and are safest of all :D
I would like to see all details in your car, is a beutiful baby,,
Does she ask " Is that legal?" lol. bad ass.
Ha! Looks like Walnut out to the airport. ;-)
Lotus 7 replica, scratch built, 347cid SBF, 8 stack efi with Megasquirt II 3.0 ecu, T-5 transmission, 8.8 rear 3-link with mumford link.
hey you would mind sending me an old MSQ file and corresponding data log? being toying with the idea of MS for a project, but i cant wrap my head around the software just yet. id like to get to know the process of editing a VE table before jumping in head first :)
Great scenery and music man.
@3593893 Mainly 1.25" .065 wall
Very Nice 7, what size tubing ??
Baby Monster right there !!
lol i wanna see some crazy drivin'..!!
