Having lived in the states for two decades, I would say many Filipinos are not that ambitious in terms of making good Filipino films. Our laidback relaxed island-loving fun culture distracts us from being ambitious. I have suggested good stories to my cousin in Hollywood and he simply ignores it.

*Jennifer is a fantastic singer but ooh, I've never heard her sounding like this.* I didn't even know that she performed at the Oscars because this performance wasn't a highlight & now, I know why. Yes she tends to place many notes in her throat, hence she doesn't support them & thus, they lack resonance however her naturally powerful Spinto Soprano voice gets her through however this was throatier than usual especially that big belt/yell in this case.
