I tried both in many matches even switching from the 4-2-4 to the 4-2-3-1 during the same match to see how they work and my advice is to use the 4-2-3-1 away or against stronger team and the 4-2--4 at home or against weaker teams. You can also switch to the 4-2-3-1 during the same match when you see you struggle against the opponent

hi, I don't use any OI because I want to see how the tactic works as it is. If you want to use some Opposition instruction you can select tight marking on the opponent's strongest player but be careful, players like Mbappe, Haaland, etc are unmarkable and your defenders following them will leave spaces behind for the other forwards

inside forwards are more strikers than inwerted wingers, more direct and aggressive and cut inside more compared to iw. If I play with 2 strikers it can be more useful to play with 2 IW because the Inside forward's movement will be probably stopped by one of the two central defenders who will mark one of our strikers too. But with 1 striker like in this 4-2-3-1, , the inside forward has more space to cut inside and also move into the box

@@Level3231bryan. the simple full back (de) with sit narrower instruction was the perfect way to replicate inverted full backs roles before Football Manager introduced it this year so technically yes, you can. It is also more editable role

Well in the more defensive tactic I was thinking about setting Amrabat as volante instead of Fred because in the game he suits this role better than the Brazilian player. About the wing-backs, yes for Osayi Samuel on the right as a full back attack (or a wing back attack) instructed to stay wider, the simple full back role is more editable than the wing back or complete wing back who have more preset instructions. But then you should instruct him to go further forward dribble more and take more risks too. For the left wing back no he can’t be inverted because Kartal wants his two wing backs to stay wider to provide width and up forward you have Tadic who is already an inverted winger and will sit narrower and cut inside so the left flank will not be used at all if you use an inverted wing back too
