All you new hams out there technician class you think you can’t do some HF go to 10 Meters worldwide communications never know who will come through and it’s gonna get better from here. Simple dipole will do it.

One of my co workers found out that I was a ham. He told me had a bunch of stuff back home out of state and today after his vacation he gave me one of these

Hi there, I'm a complete newbie about radios, but I kind of remember watching a video saying that most of the frequencies nowadays are digital. This receiver is not digital, right? So, it would be fair to say this model of scanner is not that worthy anymore. Am I correct? What could I still do with this kind of model? Thanks in advance.
@@aldo3ortiz Hello welcome to the world of radio. Well, the frequencies are still the same just equipment digital and depends what modes you want to operate determines if you go digital or not. Of course, certain frequencies are allotted for digital operations.

It looks like someone broke the volume knob off, and this is a very handy item, which allows you to listen to the signal being displayed. I notice that it doesn't have the tracking generator, and you don't need it like many claims. Use a VNA in its place, like the NanoVNA, and you'll have everything.

S-meter not operational?? Or RF gain too high??
Meter worked I was using short wire inside, and RF gain was down a little. When I put outside antenna meter was working fine. I Sold this unit awhile back

Only problem i have with mine is , you set it up in lots of greenery, and you can spot the tent from a mile away
@@kuzinit2374 you have to add some local greenery and possibly other camo covering
I have one that I picked up and has sat under the desk for 3 months. So now I won't panic if when I power it up next it throws a fault. Thanks for the tip! Happy Holidays. and 73
I bought my Drake R-8 in 1991. The RF gain pot got fouled up after all these years and stopped working. After I bought a replacement on Ebay, she works like champ again. Drakes rock!
😂 they’re asking full retail that’s one of the big reasons why I stopped going to ham fests They are just absolutely ridiculous with their pricing.😂
Hello there, yes in some cases I find good deals, but I look under the tables I like the swap area. Depends what you looking for. Seems like a lot of things are crazy far as price so I just pick and choose. I mostly go to Hamfest for the fellowship. 73 Phil KM4OP
