👏🏻 Amazing! Yes being a LPN is hard work, I also took this course and was a LPN as well!! It's a huge achievement and especially huge for the certian ones in this class that broke the cycle! Congrats Girl, you did it, you overcame everything and created a new life. The you in highschool would love to see you now as you was a child. You did that!!

Momma always said to keep your mouth shut if you can't say anything nice, but in the best internet tradition, I'm going to offer this criticism anyway-as a designer and magazine editor of 20 years, and a Southwest Virginia citizen for a whole lot more. Here goes. While I can appreciate the desire to freshen things up, that many folks may have worked hard on the college's new branding, and that it may have even cost the taxpayers a bundle, I sincerely hope it did not. The color choice is fresh, and it works equally well in both full-color and key, but that’s about the only positives I have for you. I see a number of problems right away. First, the colors and the typeface are generic. The unique ascender on the lower-case t in “mountain” is the only mildly interesting feature. I said the logo works equally well in full color and in black and white, but that’s not to say it works well, per se. In color, I see the mountains, the road, and the grassy hills. In grayscale, the distinction between these elements starts to fall apart, particularly between the road and the grassy areas because they are so close to the same color value. The choice of blue for the mountains is not ideal because it reinforces a misconception. Many people incorrectly think that the mountains of Wise County are part of the Blue Ridge, when that is definitively not the case. Perpetuating such a misconception is the very antithesis of what higher learning is all about. A different color green or purple would be more appropriate. Another major problem with your new branding is that the logo without the logotype is meaningless. That fails the first test of what a good logo should be. It should stand on its own. Also, the shield motif conflicts visually when viewed with a circle mask, as is almost exclusively the case in online profiles. TH-cam is a prime example, but Facebook and X, also use circle masks. This is exacerbated when these sites are viewed with a dark browser theme. The old logo was old. It was also iconic and instantly recognizable. In short, I think this new identity throws the baby out with the bathwater. It doesn't evoke anything special in my mind at all. I see yet another generic corporate identity. It is certainly possible to interpret the old identity in a new way, and I would love to be see that. Mountain Empire Community College is a valuable asset to our community, and I think the college's branding should reflect that. Unfortunately, I think this new example doesn't pass muster in that department. I mean this criticism constructively, and I hope it helps you in your future endeavors. Best of luck to you.
