Picos De Europa N261 towards Potes. My most favourite road yet.
Just a taste of what to expect if you are going. Relatively traffic free, well surfaced and flowy as you like. No need to go mad as the Armco will always win. Beware of cattle (usually a hint or two on the road as to where they are).

Mountain roads a bit unpredictable. Also good to watch out for polished granite surface with surface joins, even in the dry!
I saw that KM at the beginning and thought, another one broken down!😉😉 Ah mate, what a fantastic road that is. Looks scabby in places but seemed to ride well. That fox shat himself😁😁 And yes, I did make it to the end of what was a great video. Get saluting!
5 of us there last May into June, not great surface in places but lovely to ride
Im not a fan of mud either give me rock and stone any day. Enjoyed the vid 👍
Love it 👍😁
No one like grass or mud - especially around this time of year.
Class, thanks. I’ve been by, on N625. Good to capture all, even 3 fails 😊 th-cam.com/video/asU74eTQ-WM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ZkpXDfWMJNd8diCv
Your trip to Picos De Europa looked amazing do you still have the route you took as I won't to do it next next year
@phillipwright1812 check out o75 he has some good gpx files attached to his description. From there, you will be able to mix and match. Picos is easy enough. It's basically a triangle with lots of off chutes. Go and explore.
Thank you your quick reply is appreciated
Which road is it off please really want to add it to next months tour
If you google Casielles Asturias, that should give you a map answer some info. Enjoy. I hope you get clear views.
Would you be able to tell me exactly where the stelvio of the austrias is please? Much appreciated
Your opening lines regarding it feeling like a toy, exactly the same as my thoughts 😂 Cracking machine 👍🏻
@@MrSTAdventures I love it now just as much as the big bike.
Any chance of a roadmap of your route? Or a breakdown of the road numbers in order? Going there next year and still fine tuning our route.....
Google Route des cols de Pyrenees. You should be able to find the gpx.
Beacons are my local roads, I do realize how lucky I am- what camera nd mic set up do you have and blame Welsh Labour for the stupid 20mph limits
@@georgefirth09 lucky man George. Great area. I use a gopro 10 with a cheap laptop lav mic. Cheers.
Bet that felt good getting back on her again/ Crackin place to ride mate, lovely bloody scenery.
@tojj29 it hasn't been the best weather for it this year has it? To be fair, I'm more about the push rod at the moment 🚲 got a big one planned for next year. Hope the shoulders on the mend.
@@outoftheshed8407 nah, still buggered even after the op🙄
Maybe use local restaurants, rather than munching on biscuits - in France between 12:00 and 14:00, a bit later in Spain. Set meals provide excellent valve. Note that it's a legal requirement to wear gloves in France - I sometimes ride without, but just be aware. Good attitude. Don't make hotel bookings in advance because it enables flexibility.
What bike is that? feeling a bit nervous going on my own but I'd rather that than have someone along I have to watch out for all the time. Rudyard Kipling springs to mind' Down to Gehenna or Up to the Throne, He travels fastest who travels alone.😄
@@roadwarrior8560 it's a bmw s1000xr. Nervousness is good. Complacency is not so good. Enjoy making memories.

Epic ride, great vid 👍
Thanks 👍
I thought you'd changed ya mic at first cos you sounded so different😂😂😂 then it wasn't you. 😂 Well , Ian/Shaun, that was Fuckin brilliant. Fair play to you both, super human 👏👏👏👏👏
Well done!!!
Wow.
El Stelvio de Casielles ?
What do you think about going to the top with a GS 1250 adv, panniers and pillion? I’m a little scared to try 🧐
Sure. It is steep but if you have managed to get there, then it won't be a problem.
Thx for sharing
nice vid! Im hoping to do similar route. I ride with 1 hand too 🙂
When things go wrong. One after another lol.
You need to be fit for that . Good luck with the challenge I'm sure you will do well. I won't be partaking I have a puncture.
The Fed Whitton Challenge is a pretty good motorcycle route as well.
Well done gents! That ain't no easy task, I know.👏👏👏
Good training for the Fred, I must give it a try on my new bike one day.
Brilliant...this is England.... Im gonna count to 13...... 13 ? 😅😅 We live local to Mow.. Beast of an Hill... 👌
Well done Ian, good effort 👍
Cheers stu
Nice wheels bud. I spent a fortune getting a carbon Orbea. For what I spent on that, I coulda totally replaced everything on my Specialized that needing doing for less than half the cost. I never really rode that carbon bike, felt too rigid even if it was light as a feather. That's good going with three rides of that size in that time. I could only ever take hills slow and steady, and having ridden a 25% hill I know how it makes ya feel. I thought my lungs were gonna jump out my chest. That was great watching that, brought back many memories of when I was as daft as you doing this kinda stuff. Brilliant stuff, stay safe mukka
Do you not fancy an e-bike then Toj?
@@outoftheshed8407 Well, we've looked at them, but that's a far as it's gone. My Mrs keeps on saying to get one each so we can go out together riding. I rest my case your honor !
@tojjer29 haha. Try renting first. They are a game changer, still nowhere near as good as a motorcycle, though.
Mr Itchy Boots! It looks like a perfect bike for those lanes 👌
Oh heck
It's an unbelievably stunning area. I visited the same areas by car back in 2018 and met the free roaming cows. Did you not go up to the lakes at Covadonga? Si thi from another Yorkshireman.
The road up to the lake is now closed at certain times of day. I seem to recall you could go up before 9 AM. I need to go back at some stage. There are just too many places to visit.
Sure you’ve figured it out by now but just tap the button on the bottom right and the map will move with you and save all that tapping on the screen. 👍
No, I hadn't figured it out, but thanks for the tip. I didn't mind so much moving it by hand as it made me concentrate on it. I'll be trying your way next time for sure. Cheers.
You probably won't believe what I'm gonna tell you now. To look at me now at 23 stone and a lazy bustard, hard to believe that my highest mileage for cycling in a day is 118 miles on a training ride. That was cos we got lost and took a wrong turn. In 2013, at 17 stone in weight, we decided to do a charity cycle ride from John O'Groats to Lands End. Well, I did it !!! Rode every hill it threw at me and enjoyed every minute of it. I used to get to 60 miles and felt I'd just warmed up. I'm a weirdo like that. Hills killed me but on the flat I was like a BP supertanker and took some stopping.😁😁 There's a video on my channel of it. Get y'self a handlebar bag and a pack of fig rolls, keeps ya energy levels up and you can eat on the go. I ate 2 packs a day on that trip and we did 80-90 mile days for 12 days on the trot. I just shit like a goodun. Great vid, apart from the punctures, I bet that felt great.👏👏👏👏👏👏
I've always cycled, I just fall in and out of love with it from time to time. Just a shame you can't buy time, eh? I use dried figs in my flapjack, a great energy source. Looking to do caernarfon to cardiff soon as a warm down from the Fred Whitton.
Great series of video's, im off on my own in July, and I can't wait.
Where are you heading?
@outoftheshed8407 I'm visiting a mate who lives near La Rochelle and then heading to Bayonne, Pamplona, Andorra and Perpignan over 5 days before heading back to Dieppe. Should take in some great roads and cols.

Like the way you got ahead of the traffic, nice move. You caught a bad day for weather, but that looks a nice twisty road with some great views thrown in. Would be great on a hot summers day. as long as the traffic is light. Thanks for sharing the alternative to Winnats Pass
Id love to get in touch with you and discuss your journey and raft of experience. 2 of us have a ferry booked for Santander in June. We are only near Preston.

@@johnboyers2467 www.dangerousroads.org/europe/france/8587-route-des-cols-des-pyrenees.html
Bastard indeed! I had that on a charity cycle ride from JOG to Lands End. Went to put my foot on the cleat to clip in and it spun and my shin slid down the thing. Ouch moment also.
I enjoyed your technical review and judgement on the tyres. Especially at 10:04. Very funny, this is my kind of commentary. By the way, I've got the CRF300L and I changed to Trackers which are pretty good, but even they can find themselves going sideways when it gets slippery.
It's the uneducated review🤣 I'm giving the trackers a bash next.
@@outoftheshed8407 To save you sodding about looking at which size fits etc..... I've got 80/100 R 21 FRONT 120/90 R 18 REAR The rear fits absolutely fine. They're a bit shit on the road, but personally I want them to perform off road and I'll put up with any on-road limitations.

@@outoftheshed8407 😂😂😂 classic
That looked steep even on camera. I expect you've ben reminded how tiring it is riding off road. As kids we used to have Bultaco bikes in the quarries and tracks on Portland. Used to ache all over after a day on the bike. Got quite used to falling off😁😁 Fly tippers...scumbags. Do many people moan at you for riding the trails? Funny things, people, but then I would imagine some off roaders have just blasted past them in the past so they tar everyone with the same brush. That geek squad you passed looked "special" Feckin hate deep puddles, ya never know what's lurking in there to throw you off.🤔🤔 I did consider another GoPro but then remembered all the problems I had with the Hero 7. Why thhese manufacturers don't make a camera with bluetooth record straight to the camera I'll never know. I get that these adapters make them money, but the customers soon get pissed off with them and will look for alternatives. Glad you got through that without binning it before ya holiday.
No one moans. They just look at you like you are shite. The thing is they can walk anywhere and we are limited, so those that go off piste give us a bad name whilst the rest have to battle with the hikers. In my opinion, the trails should be open to all, and everyone should be more tolerant. That would be too easy eh?
I`m going to sound like a total newb here but I had no idea such routes, allowing motorbikes, existed in the Uk.
Sure is. Check out Trail Riders Fellowship (TRF) or Green Lane Association (GLASS)
