Getting the Scrambler out of a muddy rut and more sandy trails
First real ride of 2022, joined my buddy with his Honda Africa Twin to ride some sand. Ended up getting stuck in a muddy rut. Tires are TKC80 up front and Motoz Tractionator Adventure in the rear.

Going on an adventure with friends. They're on a Honda CRF450L and a Kawasaki KLX250. Still have the stock rear tire on so was extra cautious riding plus I'm new to off-road.

Curious which gear did the bike wheelie in?
This is a 1st gear power wheelie, no clutch
Yesterday I was lucky to try an 1200 XE. 1st gear is too much power for wheelies. I did some decent one in 2nd gear with pure power (without clutch) and with clutch as well. I like doing wheelies witch clutch because of the softer throttle response but I think it is really up to the biker. Long story short, If you can do balance point wheelie this bike is truly a wheelie machine😂
@akospasztor4336 I'm not good at wheelies at all, but I'm more comfortable powering up in 1st. Did one in 2nd gear by mistake once 😅
Looks like poos but sounds nice
😅
What is that white thing strapped to your left side handlebar?
That's my ezpass tag, for paying tolls.
@@mototrini a motor cop friend of mine told me to ride at the edge of my lane. The cameras can’t read my plates to mail me the bill. Haven’t paid since lol.
Damn, single track with the XE! Nice! Wish I was taller lol. I think I’ll be staying to the fire roads. Subbed, keep the dirty vids coming.
Thanks for watching! I wish I was taller too😅
@@mototrini 😂😂😂
Still dig the 2x2 not 2x1 but it sounds amazing bro! Waiting for my scrambler 1200 xe arrives next month
Thank you. It still sounds amazing to this day. What color did you get? Do you plan on changing the exhaust?
@@mototrini the Green one! I just came back from the shop, try to copy the link here so you can check the result!

Congrats! Where did you get the luggage rack from?
It's oem Triumph but it's only rated for about 5lbs 😂
Really want to learn to do this!
Go for it!
Awesome that you have the same Barkbusters I want. Now I know I don't need new bars.
Curious, what slip on exhaust do you have?
I used a TEC 2-1 exhaust but changed out the end can with one from ebay.
@@mototrini : did you remove the cat? if not, do they sell aftermarket exhaust for that bike without the cat ?
@Gino Asci yes, I bought straight headers ( no cat) "Free spirits H pipe"
On the newer scramblers the cat is in the exhaust itself so no need for new headers
Cool vid and nice bike. Im 5'10 do u think it would be too big for me?
Not at all I'm only 5'8" but it is too heavy for me to pick up alone on anything but flat ground though. So I don't ride anything gnarly by myself
احلى مسا عليكو 🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
nice bike. nice mods. enjoy and ride safe.
Thank you. I have to do a follow-up video as I've added/changed a few things. Ride safe
hell yeah what tires are you rocking?
Tkc80 front and Motoz tractionator adventure rear
@@mototrini How are you liking them? I have the stock metzlers and they only have 2k km on them, Im doing research as to the best upgrade for me I do a lot of on-road to travel, however I do go offroading anytime I see a trail that looks OK to take. I want to start doing more "sketchy" offroading with the scrambler like single track but I really think I need better tires for it
@@HolysMoly I don't really have issues or complaints about them for on road use, they are a bit noisy under 40mph but it's too be expected with knobbies. Not crazy noticeable, I only really hear it sometimes when slowing down (I ride with ear plugs in road). I always ride in sport mode on the street even in the rain. They've been doing good so far with mileage as I also commute to work with the bike or even just cruising on the weekends. They're very good offroad too, I might just experiment with something more aggressive on the front. But I'd say this is a pretty good 50/50 and will be my go to set up
nice! bet some better off tires would make a huge difference.
They sure do! Currently I have the motoz tractionator adventure on the rear and I would recommend it. It's performed really well so far and will get another once it wears out but I'll probably go more aggressive upfront.
Looks like some fun single track...your getting stuck excepted. Single track where I live in the mountains is often a bit too gnarly for the big ol' Scrambler.
Definitely want a smaller and more manageable bike for single track
Can you order just the splitter or Y from TEC? No need to spend the $325 for their pipe if it’s not needed.
Honestly when I got mine they just came out with it so not sure if they give that option now. Plus I wasn't sure if the exhaust I chose would work so the TEC one would've been back up.
Nice video 📹...Scrambler looks and sounds great 👍
Thanks
Nice Nice.👌 Enjoy the cleaning of the front sprocket :-) It is always a big surprise behind those covers...
Yes and under the swingarm and rear fender
@@mototrini yes . I had last week so much on top of the swingarm. Had to stop and remove it. Thinking now to make a mudflap in the back like I did in the front
@@ScramblerTales yes I've seen other owners make their own mud flaps or longer front fenders
I think reduction of tire pressure would have helped a little…
You are probably right, I usually just run street pressures but I should try airing down a bit
A real biker would've wheelied outta that mud, #justsayin lol

Git-r-done
The XE is so good looking I’d be apprehensive about dropping it, lol. What kind of protection do you have for it?
Just upgraded the hand guards to Barkbusters and the oem engine guards. The handlebars are pretty wide so it's usually the first part to contact the ground. The skinny profile and lack of fairings means the only other part that really comes in contact is the engine guards. Unfortunately I've dropped it quite a few times already and it's kept on going.
meh, what's going next!?
Not sure what you mean
@@mototrini wanna see - how did you get it out from the mud ~_~ ≈230kg it's a thing, you know
@@chiboreache got it, will include it in the next video
Nice single trail! Where is it located?
sand is pure evil
It's still fun though
Nice video...Scrambler is doing well 👏 👌
I'm still amazed by the scrambler
Hi Stephan. The world is small on TH-cam . Scrambler Community is growing.
Hi very very good choice for the front tire. I ride my XE now since 3 years. and tried different fronts. TKC80 holds it in front and catches it very fast when you slip. Awesome tire for the XE. Had the motoz adventure on it as well on the back. lasted 8000km, on and offroad. Now having on the back the motoz gps like it as well should last longer. But needs more power when getting into and out of mud. Best is you can run them very low on pressure during offroad.
I'm pretty happy with the motoz tractionator adventure on the rear but I may go more aggressive in the front when the tkc80 wears out. In sand and mud it tends to give out
Scrambler Tales, how are you liking the GPS tires? I’m currently running Motoz RallZ which are great in the sand here in Arizona but are wearing pretty hard on daily on road riding. Thinking about switching to the GPS.
@@jeffhammer2406 I Like them a lot for the offroad I do. I am now 14.500km with them and still have 3 mm left in the middle. Unreal. I had before the Motoz Adventure also a great tire, which gave me 8000km. Extremely great great grip on muddy conditions and sand. The street ride is okay. Of course, with the GPS you need to work the throttle more offroad. If you put the pressure down to 1.8 bar it sits flat. Perfect. Just was on a trip in France 90% offroad. Friend on his KTM with TKC80 on the back. Sure he had it easier in some parts. But he needs so to change the tire soon. My next tire is the Motoz GPS again or the Motoz Adventure. The problem here in Europe almost impossible to get them at the moment. If I do not get them I will try the new Heidi Ranger. Take care and ride save, btw I was riding the GPS regularly you can also put them on reverse, which gives more grip. I will do that if I get the tire again and see if it works even better.
Congratulations on your video. For me the Street Scrambler 1200 XE is the best there is, but only in a dream because here in Brazil, in addition to being very expensive, salaries are very low and in my case, since I have been unemployed for more than 6 years, it becomes dream of owning a Street Scrambler 1200 XE.
Well done. Taking the Scrambler on muddy tracks. How did it handle the tracks? Would not be easy, the weight of the bike & power delivery would be challenging. Love the Scrambler style, don’t own one, but like the bike. Aussie Fan🇦🇺
Thanks. It's still a great bike even if you don't plan to go off-road. It did pretty good and could do even more with a better pilot. I only have a 31" inseam so it is not the easiest bike to take on the trails but it's doable. Definitely ride with friends if you do anything gnarly as you'd need the help picking it up. The narrowness of the tank and seat helps with my confidence as it feels easier to ride. The scrambler looks and feels smaller and a lot less intimidating than other ADV bikes like say the Africa Twin or GS.
Could do with dropping the music and speaking up 🙄
Appreciate the feedback, gopro and mic wasn't cooperating that day. Also I have a lot to learn
@@mototrini great video just the audio was quiet and the music made it harder, very close to buying the XE so keep watching Scramber videos 👍
Gorgeous sound what are you using to capture the sound?
In this clip it's just the built-in gopro hero 7 mic. Have to keep the camera waterproof when going off-road
Great looking bike...some good mods too. The screen and the Barkbusters suit it well 👌
Thanks. Still thinking about getting the high fender 🤔
@@mototrini I've fitted Rottweiler mirrors to my T7..they would probably be good on your bike as they are a bar end mirror tha folds in when you go off road.
@@stepheneldridge6998 that's for the tip. I'll take a look at them
This is a trail for a plastic bike like the KLX, the Triumph is too nice a bike
True. Although extremely challenging it's still fun on the triumph.
I like the official triumph dettatchable side bag idea
I have some saddle bags I might be able to use when the time comes. Should work with the exhaust that I have
Sounds great and looks good too! Cheers, Steve
Thanks
Gotta love that blue. I've almost got myself talked into trading my tiger 800xc for one of those, the extra torque would come in handy where I ride, and that sound ripping though the trails, got to love it. What trail system where yall riding?
I actually traded in a Tiger 800xc for the scram, had it for about a year before I did. Lots of torque on the scram, power wheelies in 1st and some say 2nd but I haven't tried 2nd yet. Still a noob at off-road riding but I do feel like the scram is easier to ride even though it's taller. It might be the narrower tank and maybe the COG is a bit lower and all that torque it maybe is just me. We're riding a short unmaintained road in jersey, not much trails if any at all around here.
Sounds mean, bro.
Thanks man!

Did you have to remap after the decat? Any change in performance? Did the dacat help with heat reduction?
I did not remap yet but I have plans to get the DNK tune which should make a noticeable change in rideability from what I've read. No noticeable change in performance as far as I could tell and yes the decat helps a lot with reducing the heat.
@@mototrini awesome! Thanks a lot for the reply…had been reading a lot about the heat issues…glad to know the decat helps
@@MrFelipe8686 yeah the exhaust and seat height were my main reservations in getting the scrambler. Decat and triumph low seat fixed that for me.
