Bitesize Wargaming
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 ก.ค. 2020
Bitesize Wargaming was originally a podcast "40K Bitesize”, which sadly ended after only a few episodes. I kept it up as a Facebook hobby blog, renaming it to "Bitesized Wargaming"...keeping part of it's original name, and alluding to the small chunks of hobby focus on different gaming. Always miniatures wargaming, but ranging from my first love of Historical wargaming models, through to GW's fantasy & sci-fi offerings.
That's a rather long-winded way of saying this is the video blogging bit of my Facebook hobby page...toy soldiers and stuff. Enjoy!

My AWI Project (Part 2)
FINALLY, another horse and musket video - apologies for the delay! Rounding off (for now!) my AWI project, here's what I've put together for it.
Some Hessians, militia, cavalry and artillery...plus some hints of what may be to come in the future.
A few more Horse an musket bits and bobs to come before the end of the month, then I'll be cracking on with some Spanish Medievals I'm painting for a friend.

Napoleonic Hanoverian Militia for Black Powder
มุมมอง 1576 หลายเดือนก่อน
A quick vid to show off some Hanoverian militia for Black Powder that I've painted recently as my contribution to a club effort for a multi-player game to recreate D'Erlon's attack on the left at Waterloo. All Connoisseur / Hinchliffe minis, painted with a grey undercoat, contrast paints and then vallejo acrylics to highlight & detail. Big thanks to Athena Games of Norwich, whose promt mail ord...
My AWI Project (Part 1)
มุมมอง 4526 หลายเดือนก่อน
Theming of months is back, as June becomes 'Horse and Musket' month here on Bitesized Wargaming! I will have AWI, Napoleonics and possibly Marlburians for you this month...and am hoping to squeeze in another couple of odds and ends too. Starting this all off is a quick look at the beginnings of my AWI project, with some British infantry and commanders. I bought these from a friend, tarted up / ...
Lion Rampant Campaign & Arthurian Showcase
มุมมอง 4357 หลายเดือนก่อน
Finally - a video on the channel! Apologies for the radio silence...both gaming and work has been very busy. The themed months will be back asap, but meanwhile here's a peak at something that's been occupying my time - a Lion Rampant campaign with my Arthurians vs @emperorbaz100 's Late Romans. It was great fun, and this video features a chat with Barry about it, a slideshow of pics from our ga...
15mm February Conclusion
มุมมอง 26410 หลายเดือนก่อน
So "15mm February" has come to and end, and with it so has a (temporary) end to my theming of months...due to projects for games going on that take priority. This will only be the case until April however, when I have a theme in mind! Back to Feb however, and here's how I got on. Not as much as I would have liked but some pleasing progress and nice models nonetheless. Comments, requests, questi...

February is 15mm Month here at Bitesized Wargaming!
มุมมอง 20311 หลายเดือนก่อน
So in a continuing effort to focus my hobby, for both channel content and productivity reasons, I'm focussing on 15mm models this month! Amongst the projects are 15mm Pike & Shotte, Napoleonics & Landsknechts - and I may tray and manager some fantasy too. Look out for more videos coming soon...comments, questions and suggestions welcomed as always!
Medieval Month painting: Conclusion!
มุมมอง 32311 หลายเดือนก่อน
So here's what I got up to painting wise on my medieval themed painting month. Knights for Lion Rampant and my Crusader TtS army, command stands for Scots and Crusaders, Spearmen and crossbows...quite a bit really! Questions or comments will all be most welcome. Thanks for watching! Next month (Feb 2024) - 15mm models & Fantasy models
Medieval Month Jan 2024
มุมมอง 48811 หลายเดือนก่อน
So in an effort to boost productivity on the hobby and the video posting fronts, I've decided to theme my painting / modelling (and thus my YT channel output) each month. January 2024 is medieval month! It's my favourite period...and to be honest I had several projects on the go that I wanted to finish off. So, this month I'll be (mostly) chipping away at my medieval stuff - most notably, my cr...
Painting Victrix Arthurians with Contrast Paints
มุมมอง 1.8Kปีที่แล้ว
Apologies for the gaps between videos - crazy busy with work at the moment! So here's a quick experiment that will become a bit of a slow burn / in the background project for Hail Caesar for me (and possibly To the Strongest as well) - Arthurians / Romano-British. Using the excellent Victrix Late Romans (unarmoured) set, along with some Little Big Men Studios transfers, I've painted some up. I ...
Ancient Greek Archers - painted with contrast paints
มุมมอง 297ปีที่แล้ว
About time I sorted another video out! This time, a small skirmishing unit of Greek archers for my Hail Caesar / To the Strongest armies. These are Wargames Foundry models, and were an absolute pleasure to paint...and a breeze to do so using (mostly) Citadel/ Contrast paints. They'll be in use soon as veteran Cretan archers in my Spartan army! #wargaming #wargames #wargamespainting #wargamesfou...

Star Wars: Shatterpoint - Painting Mandalorians
มุมมอง 86ปีที่แล้ว
I recently purchased the starter box set for Star Wars Shatterpoint, after a buddy of mine and me had had an intro game at The Games Bunker in Weston-super-Mare. My buddy Nick had never played ANY form of tabletop miniatures game before, and it soon clicked with him and he really enjoyed it. I'm working my way through the painting of the models so we can enjoy a game or three at home or down at...

Hi is the foundry hoplites scale compatible with the warlord games hoplites plastic range?
Height wise yes, but the warlord games stuff is thinner / more spindly and poses not so good. Victrix are better plastics
I love those beards!
Yay dwarves get some!
Perfect, cheap and straight to the point excellent job 👌🏼
Thanks!
Fix the Limp Turret! Looks mighty Fine!
Long since fixed…but there’s two more in the queue to build!
@@BitesizeWargaming 2 Tigers?
@@dariostabletopminatures yup! Painting them to sell…or may just sell the kits
@@BitesizeWargaming can relate to that! I got a few Tanks. But thinking about selling them to paint new ones.
The Hessians are Redoubt Enterprises. I bought some in about 1992.
Thank you! Much appreciated. That said, they don’t appear on the Redoubt site anymore. Ah well…
Splendid additions, I do like the militia...and the forest floor!
Thank you very much! Wish I knew the manufacturer of the militia models…
They look beautiful my friend!
Thanks Nik - appreciate that!
Force is looking excellent
Thank you. It’s one of my favourite periods and one I have long wanted to game regularly
Would you recommend Matt Varnishing before or after applying netting?
Depends on the varnish…but as a rule, yes…as pva, whilst drying clear, can have a satin finish. A good matte finish varnish will do the trick once all else has dried
Really appreciated this video, many thanks
You are most welcome
They look great!
Thank you!
cool stuff
Thanks….glad you liked it
These are looking very nice. Yep they were lovely figures that have not dated much. Nicely painted.
Thanks Leslie!
Really lovely work my dude
Thanks very much!
Good work!👍
Thank you! 👍
Nice painting and basing on these troops, well done!
Thanks bud! Enjoyed it.
Looking good..
Thank you! Cheers!
Great looking redcoats!
Thanks!
Troops are looking good my friend
Thanks man! More to come soon…
I think the Light Infantry figures are early Redoubt figures. I remember buying some around 1992 and was a bit disappointed when compared to the Front Rank ones I had. Good luck with your project
Quite like the dynamic poses on those summer dress I formed infantry…makes for a nice contrast.
Beautiful work my friend they look amazing!
Thanks Nik…more to come too!
Superb units and command stands, well done!
Thank you! Looking forward to using them
A nice looking game (after the radio silence!😊😊) with superb miniatures!👍👍
Thanks for watching fella. Can’t recommend it enough as a game!
Really good tutorial, thanks!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching
Could you make one video(late Roman army) from the beginning to the end, I am new and i would like to learn unfortunately😪 there is not to many late Roman army painting tutorial, I will appreciate a lot.🙏🏻😅
Hi and thanks for watching. Sadly late Roman is not something on my list but never say never I suppose!
How many washes did you use and you us any oil paints
No oil pants… and just one wash of Agrax Earthshade
Army Painter Primer what color? Didn't See the Label! Thank you! ahhh in the Description! Thank you!
Thanks for watching - hope you found it useful
Very nice! Is there also a story behind the standart bearer whos standart is a riders lance? ;) :)
No…it was just an arm that fitted and did the job. Doesn’t bother me at that scale
Nice work! Unit looks great. The contrast are such a cheat code they’re great. I just ordered my first foundry pack, some armored Spartans. Curious to see them in person.
Thank you! I have rebased (again!) some of my Greeks as I mostly play To the Strongest with them now
@@BitesizeWargaming I will check that video out, I’m wondering how to base mine and may go single based with movement trays slotted for them. Is To The Strongest the grid based movement game ? I always see that in the top 3 best ancient rule sets! I would be interested in a smaller scale skirmish game since I just will never have enough for large battles lol.
@@legiox217 yes that’s right…the grid based game. Immensely fun. I’m also a big fan of Lion Rampant if playing skirmish games
@@BitesizeWargaming Lion Rampant looks fairly brilliant , I have the book :) Never played unfortunately. Have been collecting in plans to play Saga, and luckily the model count to lion rampant is a close equivalent
Interesting update 👍👍
Thanks for watching…I’ve not quite totally fallen (back) down the 15mm rabbit hole but it’s close! Enjoying the games some friends are showing me!
A wargamer distracted by another project? Surely that never happens! Good progress
Lol...absolutely right Dom! Although to be honest, the distraction in this case was the 15mm stuff, and what intervened was what I actually needed to do!!
Evening Simon, distracted by Barons War with Nic!! The Swedes look good. Your Essex naps for GdA2?
Hi Leslie…yes Nics Barons War is looking good. No, Napoleonics not for GdA2. As I said in the video, for Lasalle (and maybe BP). Thanks for watching…hope you’re well
Great work my friend! All look amazing!
Thanks mate… kind of you to say so.
Alot of excellent stuff painted
Cheers…thanks for watching
Hey love your work! What terrain and terrain paint do you use ? Would love to emulate
Thank you. In this particular instance I think it was a combination of cork to simulate rocks, Vallejo texture paste and baked dirt from my garden that’s been baked in the over for a hour at high temp then sieved (cheap!).
Excellent!
Many thanks!
😍
Cheers!
They look superb
Thank you!
Be interesting to hear how you get on with the various 15mm ECW and Napoleonic rules.
Hi Leslie…I’m a bit awful at learning rules but that’s because I either play sporadically or play too many diff games. Have focussed around just a few now…and am enjoying LaSalle and For King and Parliament with 15mm
Hobby-butterfly keeps flying. Very nice update.
Yes it does! Focussing on one particular period and / or scale helps me be productive! Thanks for watching…
Excellent update
Thank you! More to come!
ohhhhhhhh the butterfly syndrome took over again..;) Beautifully painted Napoleonic French and some great periods there! Love 15mm my first armies.
Oh I shall come back around to painting medievals don’t you worry, but focussing on something like a period or scale helps me be productive…and this month it’s my 15mm projects
Superb medieval units (ans banners) here, cracking job!!
Thank you kindly!
This is really a lot of stuff.
Well…the spearmen were (mostly) the month before. However, it shows the advantage of focussing on a particular period or project for a while !
Awesome update mate
Thanks 👍
Thank goodness you are back on track!😂😂😂 Amazing work my friend as usual!
Thanks 😆
Great work! Particularly like the posing and basing of the Knights Hospitaler - very effective method there
Thanks a lot!
hi, stumbled across your channel and loving the content.. i too, am painting hyw scots, for lion rampant and eventually, saga... how have they played using LR? i have posted a few games on my channel. please view and give any tips, on how i can them playing better. cheers Graham.
Thanks for watching! Sadly I got distracted away from this project and have since used them in hail Caesar and To the Strongest. About to try them in LR v2…will take a look at your channel !
@@BitesizeWargamingahh ok, I have posted quite a bit of LR v2, hope it helps….. I will look at you the strongest, not sure I have enough figures for it thou.
Hi I'm looking to build an army for the Scottish wars against England, can you help with books on the period for flags and colours of each retanue if that's how you spell it.
The best person to ask is Nic on the Medieval Warrior channel…but I’ll look some info up for you
