How the hell does your mellophone sound bold and powerful, and mine sounds like a screaming bird?
I would not say I play powerful, but playing with a full tone is more what I aim for. Playing with a relaxed embouchure during long tone and note bending exercises with good dynamics and good air will help. Would it be alright if I used this for my section warmup. I’m a leader at my university and I really like the efficient, concise nature of this warmup as we are usually given 10 minutes to warm up

Can you make a trumpet version for the very last excersize
getting to that high f would be nearly impossible without hours upon hours of practice

well i can play high c on trumpet, so i should be able to play the high f, might be a bit harder though
I just hit the f sharp literally the day before I looked at this and now I can’t play the f. I might’ve killed my chops when I did hit it.

After all these years, I do understand how this seems crazy, don’t try to just play it all along with the video, make sure to take breaks between each section so you don’t screw up your chops, but you got this!!

@@Kryptopunk2007 I’ve been doing a lot of things that just have gotten in the way, I don’t have a PC or anything atm either to make anything sadly. I’ve also been just kind of not been feeling it when I try to make something, like I just won’t enjoy what I’m making and just stop. But I should and probably will come back sometime. I am in a corps now so who knows how much time I’ll have if that’s rebooted
I want a mellophone
i’m a junior in high school. i switched from the trumpet to the mellophone my sophomore year. is this too challenging to start with lol because by the looks of it, it most definitely is.
Nah this shouldn’t be too bad to play. There are some parts of course that are pretty hard like the chromatic exercise that’s towards the end, but by then you’re pretty warmed up. What parts seem the most challenging.

i like it, but some of the fingerings would only work for horn, not mello. for example, the first one e natural can only be played 12. good though!!
Lindsay d Yes I am aware of this, this was originally a trumpet exercise and it’s just simply going through the harmonic series

amgoro wattimena just remember that it takes time to hit these tones and that you will have trouble figuring out how to play them, just remember to drop your jaw a little bit to help to hit those tones use A LOT of air to help support.

Daniel Rekow yes sir, you just need a lot of air and practice to do petal tones. I really like them because they help me get better for high range and help me loosen my lips if they ever feel stiff
