5 Reasons why I love my cheap GSXR 600 K3
มุมมอง 2.6K5 หลายเดือนก่อน
5 Reasons why I love my cheap GSXR 600 K3 - and a few reasons why I don't. In 2023 I bought the cheapest GSXR 600 on eBay. I was planning on using it for a track bike, or a nice project bike as there are so many parts available for the GSXR online. This is a little review on my cheap GSXR 600, what I love and a few reasons why I don't like it. The microphone is now better, thanks to a chin guar...
GSXR 600 K3 Moto Vlog #1
มุมมอง 1876 หลายเดือนก่อน
This is my first vlog on the GSXR, and I'm getting things ready for when I get my R1 back on the road. The wind noise is a bit much, and the microphone needs sorting out, but I will work on it. Using a DJI Osmo Action 3 with a Tascam Mic (not great). The ultrawide view makes it look like I am going much faster than I am.

Come to Germany, hand greetings between riders still seems pretty much the norm. Nice vid, thanks for the insights and ruminations.
Scares me just watching this
Bro it sounds like someting fing wrong with your engine, or its just yama engine sound, rattles like a 90y old going down stairs
great vid man!
did you notice it lost a bunch of top end. I put it on my r1 and it lost power had to put the other one back on.
Yep, was a pain. I did however put on the Dynojet Autotune which has allowed me to regain some of that power. I need to play with the AFR ratios a bit or get it tuned properly but it has helped.
Not sure about the cost saving aspect ;-) Maybe if you buy a bike to commute on and not have a car. As a family Dad I need a few cars for basic family movement. The bikes are toys that I cannot live without and ride as often as I get a chance, but it certainly is not a cheap affair. Add to that the gear required, and my recent obsession with also filming rides... At the end of the day it's all worth if in my case and provides spiritual satisfaction that cannot be valued. Agree with all of the points of a sense of freedom and connection to the bike.
Agreed, I can't do without a motorcycle for all these reasons.
Old man wouldn’t let me have a motorcycle growing up, so as soon as I had enough money saved at 17 I bought a Suzuki GT185. Now at 55 and 30+ motorcycles later, I’ve bonded with my two KTM 1290 SDR’s 🔥 Fantastic machines that continue to make me giggle like a school girl and do naughty things 😂🍻
Swearing should not be allowed on line, you are childish and you are hoping you will come across as a real motorcyclist, I have raced on 600 & 1000s You might grow up a bit after an other few decades
Got a bandit 1250 as my first bike .. 😎
I jumped on a 1000cc GSXR after passing my test. Just gotta respect what you ride. Im now on a ZX-10R with is just completely fucking insane
Yamaha didn't make a V4 R1 - they changed the crank configuration and firing order in 2010 (I think) which makes the engine sound like a V4. It's called the 'Crossplane' or 'Big Bang' engine 😊
When I first rode a 1000cc bike I thought how can this be legal to operate on public roads? Insanity. But it gets quite manageable after a while.
Great fun until you end up in traction 😂😂 but seriously the sense of power is amazing
I bought an R1, brand new one, was going to pick it up in a week or two but I decided I didn’t think I’d like how much power it would have and how bad these bikes are at low speed. Got a 2019 R6 instead (coming from a 2003). Feel like a 600 is the sweet spot for shitty English roads lol
The r1 would have been mental but you will have more fun on the R6 being able to get to the redline and still have a license. Not like that 19 R6 is slow by any means, it'll still rip your arms off.
Hell yeah man. Never had a boring ride on my R6 so I’m very much looking forward to the new model, looks so much prettier and very excited to have a quickshifter 😂
The title is funny to me because the first time I took my bike to the race track back in '87 I got scared when I hit turn 8 at Willow Springs wide open on my 600. The first time you truly open up any bike can scare you.
I've been riding bikes for over 30years,I have several machines, speed triples,a fireblade,Daytona 955i,great what you're saying but it looks like from your video you're encouraging new rider's to ride like tool's like yourself...I'm not impressed...
Sorry but I’m not sure I can trust the word or opinion of anyone who has those awful Chineseium blade mirrors on their bike 🤦♂️😂 I’m assuming that’s a 4c8 ? It looks and sounds like one and tbf they are probably one of the worst 1000cc bikes for a newbie , I had a ex iom TT trackbike one and they are like a 2 stroke flat as a fart like a 600 until they get to 8-9k then they try to murder u to death 😂 amazing chassis tho , probably one of the best handling bikes I’ve ridden . Most modern 1000cc bikes are pussy cats in comparison, just turn all the electronics on and put it in a soft map and they are easy to ride . Old school stuff is far more challenging
They are terrible and the originals are going on at the weekend. I really didn't know what I was expecting when I got it. I didn't think it could be that different from my GSXR 600. I would have got one with the electronics if I could afford it. I couldn't imagine what an ex TT bike would be like, must have been an experience.
You are riding the 4C8 that was great bike bit to top end really why they went cross plane Had yamahas for 30 years I've ridden most of them unfortunately they became weak low down and to rev related for racing.. my last R1 was the cross plane 14B very fast however on the road gearing wasn't great ran hot loved it I now have an MT10 much better in the real world for road riding Sport bikes are now not so popular and hyper naked make a lot more sense in many respects
I’ve had 2 mt10 mega bikes , stunning engines 😎👌
Especially if you are an idiot and you have no common sense.
After the breakin miles on my H2' SE-SX I discovered time travel' - I'll never go back to a normal ride
Time travel must be the right words for that crazy machine.
I ride zzr1400 is no problem it's self control or its lose your licence or your life . To many happy speed bikers out there thinking there rossi and no where near that level .
It's so easy to run out of talent on powerful bikes.
Jamie we never got a picture once of the bike bruv !GATE13SW6CREW cfc
I know, silly me, should of started with that. I will make sure the next one shows the bike.
Purchased a Ducati panigale v2 straight from a 125 worst and best decision ever. Remember after my first ride my legs and arms felt like jelly
125cc to a Panigale V2 is crazy haha but awesome.
Had a bunch of Superbikes over the last 36 years, starting in 87 on an FZR1000 - that was my awakening… My standouts were the FZR, a Busa gen 1 and of the 4 R1’s I’ve been lucky enough to have the Big Bang R1 was a peach of a motor. Nice vid 😎
I love the 80's sports bike. I had a look around at my local dealership and they had an FZR1000, might have been an 86 model, looks incredible. The Big Bang motor sounds special.
I ride a 1300 Hyabusa, I wonder if a liter sports bikes weight and ergonomics makes it more scarier than a Busa. I only ever rode 600 super sports. (R6 currently)
Hmmmmm, im not sure, the raw power and torque of that busa probably makes up for the weight, probably easier to put it down as well.
Totally agree m8 having just got my 1st 1000cc bike its bloody mental !!! Brilliant fun.. but gotta be sensible ish.... recognise those roads well, am in the same neck of the woods so may well see you about 👍👍
What litre bike did you go with? I think the main thing is knowing the roads and knowing your own limits.
Danke dass ich mit fahren durfte!🤣🤣🤣
"You will fucking shit your pants" yep I did the first time I took a 1000cc sports bike out. 😂😂😂😂👍🏻💩💩💩
😂 what did you take out?
@@JamieThomas1000 R1!
Even though I think the Akras on mine are a tad too quiet, even with a decat, given my sensitive hearing after 20 years of riding, I'd find the exhaust a bit too much and all too easy for plod in Wales to pick fault with everything on the bike. How much did you lose low down or in the midrange with that on, since you're effectively shortening the exhaust pulses for scavenging.
I cut my teeth with IL4 sportsbikes back in 2005 when I had that 18500Rpm screamer of a ZXR250. It taught you to expect the top end rush of an IL4 powerband. Going onto a 1997 ZX6R 2 years after that, it felt like there was more of everything. You had the quick acceleration, the powerband, the first time the clocks saw 150mph. Following that, I had a 929 FireBlade which just felt like a torquier 600. The step change came when I went onto my 4C8 R1, as per your vid. It was like an R6 with more meatier power delivery, power band included. Despite the fact that you can use it as a 6th gear twist and go or launch it in first everywhere until the shift light comes on past 80mph, it just felt at home on track. The point is, if you know how to react to the power delivery and respect that the laws of physics and energy conservation are still applicable and are more consequential on something that capable, then you'll enjoy it. Sadly, UK track days are getting more expensive with more prohibitive noise restrictions, and the roads are full of self entitled non-attentive road users, it's not worth the risk to go out for a moment of frenzy. Still have the R1 and still have my Gen 1 Fazer Thou. Would rather ride the Fazer on the road since the chassis is more suited to poor surfaces compared to my R1, with suspension set up for track. Still somewhat prefer the riding position and mad power delivery of the R1, only if it wasn't illegal to do the latter.
been on a 125 for 6 years, just done my direct access and bought a brand new mt09, not sure if its too much of a jump but it hasnt scared me too much yet which probably not a good thing. no funny business for me just yet
As long as you know your own limits I think it is okay. The MT09 sounds amazing, what exhaust is on it?
Mate you fucking ride that bike 😂 nice vid
Comes to mind those crazy skylines that destroys liter bikes on the highway 😮💨
1320video is a good channel for those 👌
A comparable car must be in the hypercar class!
Carwow has done some cars Vs bikes videos, worth a watch.
Effortless
Been on my r1 for 6 months and I don’t think I’ll ever get used to the speed 😂
Same 🤣
Got the same bike. 08 yzf r1. Very nasty bike
I love it, what colour is yours?
I remember when I went from my 600 motard to the Honda CB1000, man the smile on my face felling and hearing those inline 4s screaming and pumping. But yeah, I never push beyond 130\140 because after that you just become a bullet and you don't have control anymore. Now just got an S1000r and I love it, you just have to ride with head knowing that the bike will constantly try to kill you if you allow it to scream and be free
I was a novice 600 racer and jumped on a GSXR 1000 RACE BIKE! It was a bit of insanity. Just trying to keep that front wheel down was mind blowing.😵💫 (and yeah, about 5 races later it savaged me good)😵 The liter bike just waits to catch you napping. She has no tolerance for the disrespectful and she demands 100% attention.😈
I used to race an '86 FZ600 and my buddy had an FZ750. I actually had faster lap times on my 600 than he did because I was not afraid of going fast in the fast corners. That was the only way I could make up for lack of top speed in the straights and anyone can go fast in slow corners. However, when I got on his 750 not even on the track I thought the bike was going to rip my arms off trying to stay on it.
@@RedBud315 truth told, I learned so much more about racing when I transitioned into lightweight bikes. (500 twin, 250 GP 2 stroke) When I didn’t have the crutch of point and shoot, I had to learn the mystical arts of the corner. Once I had unlocked the secrets of corners, my skill level in general increased exponentially! Cornering really does separate the men from the boys.
@@Daddy53751 You have to commit to using the entire road from entrance to exit to get the best exit drive. I rode Willow long before they had curbing and one time exiting turn 2 at full tilt I knew I was late on apex and at the last few inches of road I had to decide to pick it up and ride it off and back on the track and a wake up moment for sure. The first few laps at Riverside I was a good 5-10 feet away from the wall exiting the banked turn 9 but, by end of 1st day I could touch the wall with my fingers if I wanted to. I owed all that to Kenny Roberts interviews back then, lol.
@@RedBud315 hey small world! I rode the big track a Willow Springs a bunch.
@@RedBud315 it took me forever to master that turn 9 at big willow. Always turned in way too early for the longest time.
i stepped up from my 125 to a new cb750 hornet, it'll do 0-60 in something like 3.5 seconds. The accelleration gives me a real kick in the ass and i still get the 'jeezus' moment when i hit the throttle hard, i think it will always be enough fun for me, & can't really imagine more on a litre sports bike, and i'm not sure i want to play around on something looking to 'get me' anyway lol, but im still a youngster at only 62, maybe when i'm older i'll grow a bigger pair of cahoonas & try one. GL
Liter bikes are like legalized drugs
100%
I had a '06 R1. After having six 1000cc bikes - a 1988 Kawasaki ZX10, a 1993 Yamaha FZR 1000, a 1996 Yamaha YZF 1000R Thunderace, a 1998 Yamaha R1, a 2000 Yamaha R1 and a 2003 Yamaha R1 - you'd think that I'd be used to them but riding the '06 R1 felt like going back to a 600cc: lighter and more agile than the previous ones but deceivingly powerful and quick. Just a little below 6000 rpm and it was already doing 160km/h (~99mph), and it still had another 8000 rpm left until the redline! Not to mention being capable of doing 165km/h (~103mph) in 1st gear! Out of the six, it was the best litre bike I've ever owned, closely followed by the Thunderace. 🙂
I know that area!
A nice place to ride a bike.
I have to agree 🤣 I traded my second trusty VFR800 for a 1k cc - in fact it was also supercharged too and wtf happened in the blink of an eye was brain shattering- into warp drive mr spock omg . Welcome to the world of the H2. The scene from James Bind in Moonraker where he’s on that simulator is what I experienced and this is coming from a very seasoned biker. Freighting at first then hilarious 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Warp drive is the right fit 🤣 those H2's are ridiculous. Must be an amazing feeling on one of those, ride safe.
Currently riding a GSXR 1000 K1,with some mods and it's just incredible and, thankfully, isn't spoiled by the electronics that infest current litre bikes.Prior to the GSXR,I had a Honda VTR 1000F,and the difference between the two is just incredible, the VTR wasn't exactly slow, but the GSXR is just at another level.
Wait till you ride a powerful 1000cc bike. There’s a reason the 4c8 was only made for 2 years cause they’re crap. It’s only got about 175 bhp
What would you recommend as a good 1000cc for under 8k? I've read a lot of good things about the BMW S1000rr.
@@JamieThomas1000 yes a BMW S1000rr 2nd generation. I’ve raced R1’s and BMW’s for years and the BMW is miles faster
Man the video quality is looking so crisp. Going to have to look into DJI action cameras now.
The DJI cameras are great quality. The main reason I got one was for the battery life, roughly 160 minutes, about over an hour more than a GoPro.
feel 4k revs in your gooch hahahaha
🤣
WilI really though? A long time rider of 500 2-stroke dirtbikes and a few high-strung 2 stroke drag bikes? It will have to be really damn impressive o surprise me.
Maybe not yourself having experience on a 500cc 2-stroke, those are crazy. I'm sure the modern 1000cc will get close.
