I've teamed up with Corona Canada as a consultant for its Accessing Paradise Pledge, a commitment to make select beaches more accessible for people with mobility challenges, starting with six beaches in 2024.
Beach access is being improved with accessibility measures, which include Mobi-Mats, Mobi-Chairs, and Mobi-Decks.
Through my nationwide and global fieldwork since 2017 as Canada's Mobility Facilitator, Accessibility Consultant, and Accessibility Problem Solver, including many cross-Canada accessibility Tours, I estimate that of the more than 2,500 beaches in Canada, approximately 15% are accessible - the majority of these with my help, solutions and products.
When Corona approached me to consult on its Accessing Paradise Pledge and informed me of its long-standing commitment to helping people reconnect with nature, I knew we could make a meaningful impact in select paradises together.
I have worked with Corona to identify the first four beaches to receive transformations:
1) Wellington Beach, Ontario, completed May 10, 2024
2) Plaige Saint-Zotique Beach in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Quebec - Installation May 22, opening June 10, 2024
3) Sudbury Beach in Penticton, British Columbia May 10, 2024, Installation and opening
4) Parksville, Vancouver Island, BC June 17, 2024, installation and opening.
